I'm back! · 7:58pm Aug 31st, 2013
Finally! It's so good to be home, warm and comfortable, with an internet connection;p
The dig-site was on a mountain called "Ptasznik", which is about 700-800 meters high above the sea level. We were staying in a household in village called "Chwalisław", and it was a real shithole. I mean it, it didn't even had a store! The closest one was in an hour-away town! But anyway, the whole area was located in a natural basin, we were surrounded by smaller mountains... which meant that mornings were rather chilly. We had to wake up on 7am, so we could be ready to leave around 8am, and we hat to get to the dig-site near the top of the mountain by 9am. It took more or less 40-45 minutes to get there, so it wasn't much of a bother... except that it was on a mountain, so naturally, going up is a bit more taxing. And while we could use a road to move around for most of the route, the last 10 minutes we had to make our way through the forest. So, yeah, hello, ticks! Well, not exactly. I happened to be the one out of (I think) three guys that hadn't got any ticks during those three weeks! But back to the subject...
The place we were digging was once a bulwark, although other than that we know (still) nothing. We don't know how old it is, or for what purpose it was build. Our excavation was the first one in that place, so maybe in the next year they will find more. We only manage to find evidences of wooden... walls, I think? Sorry, I might get some names confused, as I am not really sure how that translates. Anyway, we also found several mounds made out of stones, although we don't know if they were barrows. We made documentation of 8 of them, and we dig through one. Haven't found anything there besides a single one animal bone. And while we're at it: overall, out of artifacts, we found only this bone and one piece of pottery, although that one was found in a further away place, if it was found at all. I haven't seen it, we were only told about it by one of the archeologists that was in charge, so I wouldn't be surprised if they made it up to lift our spirits.
Our work day looked like this: from 9 to 12 we worked up there, then we had a half an hour for a break, and then back to work until 3:30pm. Then we returned to our "base", ate dinner that we had to pay for, and waited for showers to be free, praying that there would be still hot water by the time you would get to it. The rest of the day was free.
So... you're probably wondering if I have written anything, right? Well, I wrote one chapter of "The Hero of Altomare", which I already posted, over four chapters of "Rebirth of the Damner", and one more... a chapter for a brand new story, other than that second prequel thing I've mentioned. But relax, this new story will be short, about 6 chapters long... and ponies won't appear until 4th... would that be allowed?
Anyway, I should post chapters one each day, provided my editor will check them in time.
YAY!
Well it is good to see that your back. I am looking forward to the chapters.
