    Available!

For the first time in a decade, you can buy a copy of Twilight's List again! And it's got a softcover option too! And and since it's Lulu, if you aren't in North America, the shipping won't kill you! I'm celebrating!

    Small Writing Thing

I participated in another group writing project. You can find it Over here.

I was feeling very cross at the government when I gave Rainbow a metal pipe. I actually love her here though.

    Clang.

    A thing to read

    Hi!

I commissioned a short fic from Monochromatic. You can read it over on Hollow Shades.

It’s rarity and rainbow and twilight being pals.

Second Printing of List · 7:26am Aug 31st, 2013

Well, I underestimated the number of people who didn't do the first print run or who just plain want hardcopies of fandom works. I've been convinced to try for a second run. So I am.

Here's the deal: It's going to be $50 + S&H. That's $5 for USPS inside the US and $20 to most of Europe. These are based on shipping from the first round. Called US right, fucked up and undercharged for EU. Oh well.

Second Edition: You're getting a second edition copy. So far, no one has emailed me with any further errors, so the only differences are as follows: The "copyright" page will say "Second Edition" on it, and the cloth cover is going to be red instead of blue. Same dust jacket, same text.

What to do: Same as last time: email kitsuneymg+twilightslist@gmail.com (the +twilightslist just helps me sort things. If your client doesn't like it, don't worry) and say how many copies you want. You'll also need to let me know where I'm sending it, and if you want a signature/small personal message. You can also email me if you just have questions.

I don't think I left anything out. :P

Edit: Dammit

Time Frame: The only upcoming event that I can think of is Christmas/winter holiday of choice. So this order series will run until, say, October 6th. After that, if I have 20 or more orders, I can collect the payments, contact my printer, and send the go order. If I end this on the 6th, I should have money by the next week (13th) and be able to place the order on the 14th (Monday). That has them sending out the books on the 28th. So you should get them early/mid November. Maybe later if you're not in the USA. Because who doesn't want horse words for the $WINTER_FESTIVAL?

Pictures of the first edition Book

I will be trying to make a coherent post on "how to self publish a book" at some point, as I've been asked that more than once now.

Sorry this post isn't "I finished another story", but I'm so buried in work and kids that I've hardly thought about actually writing lately.

Books, books, books!! Can't get enough of em!!

If I had 50+ bucks to spare I totally would (saving for a car ATM so I can actually get to work easily) but since money doesn't magically float into my hands I can't really right now. Maybe next edition?

Yeah.

I kinda wish that the 12-14 people who signed my little waiting list had done the preorder originally. With that much, IU could have had plates made and gotten the cost down significantly.

It's "only" $2k to print 500 or so copies sans dusk jacket and stamping. Of course, selling them becomes the issue.

FWIW, I don't mind people taking the pdfs I made or the story text and going to a cheaper printer for their own copies. Blurb does a passible job for a bit less, but I'm told the quality is not as nice. /shrug

As for future issues, as long as there's interest, I don't mind doing it, but it is super expensive to do small runs. Last one cost me around $1250 for printing and shipping, not to mention four months of editing, formatting, and vectoring on a story I'd already finished. It's exhausting. That's something no one really tells you.

1319357 Yesh this pleases meh

I already got the first edition, and I LOVE it. It came on the best possible day for me. I had just gotten home from getting my wisdom teeth pulled, so I go get the mail. Low and behold, the book is there! Turned that day from utter crap into one of the best days of the summer.

AW YEAH

EVEN THOUGH I CANNOT BENEFIT FROM THIS

Just to double check, you need an email to the indicated address even if we previously sent an email to that address about the second printing, and this time it needs to contain a mailing address? Want to make sure I don't screw this up/creepily send you my home address uninvited.

1319775 I have yours already, I think, but another one won't hurt. Mailing address is for obvious reasons, lol. But yeah, I won't think it's creepy just because I get extra email. Only if like people start flirting or trying to get me to send pics of my coccyx or ship applejack and rainbow dash together. Weird stuff like that.

1319659
That's awesome. The fact it helped turn a shit day into an awesome one make me feel good about myself.

So does that mean that there will be cheaper editions in the future?

1320296
Probably not. Unless something incredible happens like 50 people all deciding to get it this time. Plates aren't affordable until you get into 50's and 60's for copies. And even then, it's only affordable because people are paying the higher cost. If I knew I could sell 500 copies at $30, I'd do that. But I doubt I could.

Again, people can take the text of the story and print personal copies for themselves if they want.

I was telling a friend of mine about how you're publishing Twilight's List, and she asked me how it's legal to make money off of this. I genuinely could not answer her question. It seems to me like it WOULD be illegal to make money off of Hasbro's licensed characters and things. If you said it before, I am sorry but I missed it. Could you possibly say it again?

1321546
e.e
If I were selling prints or shot glasses or art commissions, no one would bother asking this question.

1322011 Uh, sorry. I was just curious. To be honest, I don't know how all those things are legal too. I never really thought about it before. I'll drop it though.

All right! I can get my way on the second round.

Also, the payment is due on the 13th, right? Or is that just when you EXPECT to have the money?

1322534
That's when I expect to have the money in paypal. So I can just pay the printer from there.
