Fate/Amicitia: Servant Profiles - Saber *UPDATED FOR CHAPTER 10* · 6:37am Aug 23rd, 2013

As of Chapter 10:

***

Hector of Troy
Class: Saber

STATS

Strength: B+
Agility: B
Endurance: B
Mana: C
Luck: C

CLASS SKILLS

Riding: A+

Known as the Tamer of Horses, Hector was a renowned far and wide for this skill. His mastery led him to believe he could tame Achilles’ immortal steeds, though the interference of Zeus prevented him from capturing them. At this rank, even creatures on the level of Phantasmal and Divine Beasts can be used as mounts. However, that does not apply to members of the Dragon races.

Magic Resistance: B

A protective skill, this blocks magical effects. While having no special talent, Hector’s abilities in this area are above average out of necessity, due to the abundance of skilled magic users that lived in his time. User may cancel spells with a chant below three verses. Even if targeted by High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals, it is difficult for him to be affected.

PERSONAL SKILLS

Charisma: B

The natural talent to command an army. Increases the ability of allies during group battles. B Rank is enough to be the king of a country, and is a marking of his suitability as Crown Prince of Troy.

Projectile (Javelin): C
Expertise for throwing projectile weapons. At C-Rank, the attack is comparable to crossbow bolt. Hector’s ability to pierce shields with thrown spears was renowned; the hero Ajax’s shield stopping one was considered a major feat. Being summoned as Saber has degraded the skill’s rank, maintaining piercing power but reducing range, speed and accuracy.

NEW! - Defender of the State: C
The capacity to mark a region as one’s personal domain by securing the surrounding leylines before battle. While Hector is by no means a mage, this magecraft was passed down from Troy’s founder, his ancestor Ilus. Due to low rank, Hector requires an icon called a palladium to focus the spell. Once active, the item grants impregnability to the walls of any structure within its range. Even after Hector died, Troy’s walls were unbreachable until the heroes Odysseus and Diomedes broke this enchantment.

Protection of the Gods: A

A gift from Divine Spirits, bestowed on those they favor. In this case the spirit is Apollo of the Greek Pantheon. As the prince of Apollo's chosen city, Hector enjoys the benefit of the Sun God's watchful eye despite being a mere mortal. In a dangerous situation, the blessing drastically increases either Endurance or Luck for a short period. Due to Apollo’s link to archery, it also provides protection from all arrows, even without line of sight on the shooter.

NOBLE PHANTASM

Geras Aphthiton (The Glory of Heroic Immortality)
Anti-Unit, Rank B

Legendary armor made by the God of the Forge, Hephaestus. Hector took this suit as a trophy after his greatest triumph, the defeat of the Greek hero Patroclus. Patroclus borrowed the armor from Achilles, but it was originally made as a gift for Achilles’ father Peleus after he captured and married the sea goddess Thetis. In Greek, “Kleos Apthiton” means “Glory Everlasting,” while “Geras,” is the term for a trophy which brings glory. Given that Hephaestus had great affection for Thetis, one could interpret the name as mockery; a slight against a mortal who gained recognition for making Thetis a “trophy,” but would ultimately be a footnote next to her immortality and place as a divine being.

The nature of the armor’s protection is simple but potent: it negates damage by crafted weapons. Regardless of materials or quality, so long as the weapon which strikes the armor has been artificially constructed it can do no harm. Naturally, the armor’s spell is useless against improvised weapons, crafted items which are not “weapons,” and unarmed blows. As a trophy, the armor also has the ability to allure. Once activated, attackers’ blows will be drawn to the armor rather than exposed areas by subconscious influence. This can be resisted by skills which halt mental interference. More importantly, these abilities may be bypassed if one has knowledge of the armor’s weak spot. Attacks to the joint of the right shoulder will override the hypnosis, and weapons may pierce that spot.

While this isn't relevant now, i've the feeling it may be later... Excalibur would probably be able to damage the armor due to it being hope crystallized into the form of a sword by the planet. Of course, Arturia's own charisma, plus magic skills, plus magic resistance and will, would likely enable her to ignore the glamour. She could be a Caster, she's got the power and ability, just not the mindset. Spell craft is not the way of a King or a Knight, after all. Anyways that does explain the effect the armor had on Twilight, which I was wondering about. Once she learns about it, and when she's NOT busy dealing with crippling pain from her shield shattering, she'll likely be able to resist the mental effect. She's an absurdly good mage after all, so, to me at least, I imagine with the knowledge of it, she could resist or counter it.

Your OC servant creation skills are quite good. Given how many mythological creatures there are in Equestria, I hope at some point in the story Saber gets to utilize his riding skill. And anyone who has read Fate Zero should know who that black knight is and why his abilities are going to play merry hell with Hector's noble phantasm. I guessing we haven't seen all of Saber's noble phantasms yet, and I can't wait for the next chapter. Keep up the good work!
