What's your opinion on Chapter 1: Listless Wings?

I've heard some thoughts by people mentioning it's the worst of the story, since it's rather hard to get through. Boring. Snoozefest. Zzz.

Others say it gives good characterization on Novell and Whisper, establishing their relationship for later. It introduces the parents of Novell, who are minor characters, but helps with the goodbye in Chapter 3.

So I want to know what the majority think. Maybe both? But regardless, I do think the boringness is a problem, something a lot of people don't want to struggle through to read the rest of the story. So give me your opinions.

Oh, and don't forget to read the last blog I put up. It has a contest of sorts in it with X-COM: Enemy Unknown as the prize (if you have Steam).

Thanks for helping out, guys.

Also, one more thing, I'm already beginning to write the sequel. Prologue is done. Working on Chapter 1. Strive will be finished soon, too.

Fun times.

Just reread it, and I can't say that I found it particularly boring. It's got a lot of fun flying parts, and the initial bit of relationship we get between Novell and Whisper are great.

That said, I am not an editor.

Hmm. Maybe it's just me having wrote it and read it over quite a few times. I tried reading it aloud and I got bored of doing it.

It feels like there's too much description of the background and every little thing. But again, that may be because I was reading it aloud.

I like it. I is anything but boring!
I found Unmarked when it was 8 or so chapters long and read it in one piece during the night.
Also I remember that I had work next day and had strong decision to read two or three pages, decide if it is worth adding to readlater list and go to sleep. And... I simply was not able to tear myself off the story. I ended reading it up to 3 o'clock, and only than I was able to let myself sleep (only to understand that I cannot sleep, get up in an hour and get back to reading till early morning ;)
I think if the first chapter was not good enough I would not have all that troubles. :twilightsheepish:
So definitely not boring. :pinkiehappy:
