I'm In the Philippines Now! · 2:45am Aug 10th, 2013
It's my third day here, and it's 10:15. I've had so much fun here so far, and we've only done the bare minimum! My cousins are awesome (even though they're all a couple years older than me), and we've literally just been cracking jokes and saying puns, while doing a bunch of random things like playing this game similar to headbands and roaming around the house. The food is awesome here. I've literally been like "rice, rice, rice rice, rice, rice, mangoes, Asian food, rice, mangoes, a bunch of stuff that's not in America, rice" the entire time thus far (though I may be exaggerating a bit.)
It's been four years since I've last seen anyone here (I was 7), which is probably why I'm so ecstatic. The only thing that's some-what disappointing for me is that there isn't wifi in a lot of the area I'm in and the wifi I have can't do streaming that well. But no matter, I'm still having fun without internet (IMPOSSIBRU!)
Being here makes me realize how much stuff we have that we use like it was nothing. I've seen a bunch of people on the street without much money or a home. It makes me wonder: Why do we do the things we do? What I mean is, children at the age of four or five have their own phone and tablet and laptop and stuff, and then complain that it's not the latest model. And then here, people on the street, children and adults alike, smile if you take the time and give them something, whether it be food or a money donation at the slightest. Another thing here is that nature based scenery isn't completely destroyed with factories and shops. And the shops that are here are pretty big and professional so that there doesn't have to be too many of them.
Also: FAST FOOD HERE LEGITIMATELY TASTES GOOD. And it usually comes with rice xD. RIIIIIIIIICEEEEEEEEE. RICE IS AMAAAAAZINGGGGGGG.
I've also come to realize how fun simple things can be. At home, I'm usually at my computer doing something like gaming or YouTube. Here I'm playing with RC cars and talking with my relatives, with the occasional technology. It's not like my family can't afford it, it's just that we don't want/need it. I feel like I'm just embracing the stereotypes and/or being racist, but no matter.
I think that's it for now, Ina out!
