Relationship
noun
1. the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected
According to Google, having a deep affection towards someone means to like someone a lot. A relationship is where two people are connected, whether they be friends or family or a classmate. Love is not restricted to dating or marriage or any of that. If you like someone a lot, you love them. Though many don’t like using the word ‘love’ outside of those scenarios, it’s true.
Esther Day is a day dedicated to a nerdfighter (someone who watches the YouTube channel “vlogbrothers”) who wanted to spread love to everyone. The holiday is on her birthday. She died of cancer when she was sixteen, and when John (one of the channel owners) asked what she wanted her holiday to be about, she said she wanted it to be a day of affection toward everyone. Though it may sound like Valentine’s Day, Esther’s holiday is about going up to someone or just telling someone somehow that they love them with true affection. Not a day to give each other candy and say “Happy Esther Day!” to everyone you give candy to.
“Why am I telling you this?” you might ask. Today, if you haven’t already guessed, is Esther Day, and if you’re reading this, it means I sent this to you, and I love you. Though I don’t know many nerdfighters or people who’ll recognise the name “vlogbrothers,” today is still Esther Day, and it’s about time I’ve come out and said it. I love you. If you’re reading this, though there’s not many of you, I love you. I love the way you smile, and if I haven’t met you face to face yet, that shouldn’t change my point. If we’ve ever talked, I love you. I think you’re amazing at what you do, whether you play an instrument or dance or do athletic things or play video games or write or do anything else. You’re amazing. I love you for that. In fact, It’s not just your talent, it’s you. Your personality, your looks, you. I love you. And you should know that.
Though this year there’s very few I can send this to (and it’s probably going to be like that for a long time,) I just wanted to remind you how awesome you are, and don’t forget it. Have a great day!
