RTX 2013: My Little Panel 2: Electric Scootaloo · 2:40am Jul 10th, 2013
So I went to RTX 2013 (as if my last post didn't make that clear) and since I had nothing else to do at the time, I went to the brony panel (My Little Panel 2: Electric Scootaloo). And apologies in advance for rambling...
Anyway, it's the closest thing I have to a regret about anything I did this past weekend. Per
I suppose I'm a Creative since I am writing a ponyfic (I am, I swear it! I was working on it a bit when I was in panel lines) but as a friend pointed out brony implies a social aspect (hence "bro") which doesn't really mesh up with my type of fandom. Based on some of the rabble I could make out during the panel, my rabid devouring of ponyfic is unusual (and I don't seem to have read the "standards" like Cupcakes, Rainbow Factory, or others like those), my lack of a Mane 6 favorite is next to unique, and I don't really care about the feuds between the who-is-the-best-pony crowd (since they all act OOC at some point or other).
Thinking about it on the drive back from Austin, I sort of realized that I like the universe of ponydom since it provides a colorful (pun intended) template for an entire manifold of worlds explored in fanfics but am not [apparently] as rabid a fan of the show as the Social group seems to be. Hell, I don't even have a favorite amongst the Mane 6 (or Luna 6 either, for those of you who think I prefer alternate universes) or the CMC. I like the side and background characters like Big Mac, Prince Blueblood, guardsponies, and Princess Luna and have adopted lots of headcanon from the fanon for all of them.
So I wouldn't call myself a brony (not like I really did in the first place), but I will continue to read ponyfic, listen to pony music, and consume the rest of the pony media... just, I'll do it my way.
