Hmm...I've noticed that the response I'm getting on this story isn't quite what I expected =/. Maybe it's due to the inclusion of a certain alicorn princess, a perceived similarity to another work of human/pony crossover fiction, or something else. Either way, I was not prepared for the response thus far. So I think I will try doing something...
One lesson I learned from good storytelling is that it an interesting story often begins in the middle of an action. The best example of this that I know is in Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses, in which the first chapter begins with two Indian film actors falling out of sky after their plane explodes in midair. Captivating, right? I know. What I have in mind isn't something quite like that, but I think it will serve well in creating a better hook as well as familiarizing the reader better with the themes of my story. I will make the prologue and first chapter into the first and second chapters, then begin the story with an alternate prologue. This new passage will be a "flash-forward," which will take place on Earth probably six months to a year after the time in which my story first began. It will also involve a fan-favorite pony...and I think I'll leave it at that.
