Honestly, I kind of (not so) secretly hope that Applejack's parents make an appearance in season four; and that they turn out to be annoying, abusive jerks that everypony ends up hating. I would just love to see them in passing, to see the moment of the writers semi-intentionally shooting half the fandom in the foot. That would be funny.

Mmm... but a changeling in the elements of harmony would throw off the whole balance of things they have, 2 of each tribe and whatnot(Screw Twilicorn, until the other 5 ascend atleast. I'm calling that now.)

That, I can see happening. Maybe Pinkie is actually a changeling? Maybe there's really only one of each species in the Elements? (Rarity being a secret diamond dog, while Fluttershy is really a tree. Or some kind of wood nymph or something.)

1119497 Honestly, I'm only hoping that we've finally seen the end of Twilight's character arc. We've seen three seasons of her being meticulously sculpted for royalty, and she's finally got it. We really really don't need to see more of her; not before we see some legitimate character building for the rest. I mean, sure we know a few snippets about their childhoods, but we know NOTHING of how they met before Twilight (Excluding the pegasi), or even how Pinkie Pie wound up in Ponyville, or why Rarity's dress shop is in a tiny town of nudists, etc.
1119499 Agreed, but it seems to focus solely around Twilight. Her friends have had a few episodes, but they need more. We see tons of Pinkie, but it seems like we don't really know her. Rainbow Dash is the same.......

Honestly, if I had half a mind to (as well as several pots of coffee), I'd go on a binge of just writing entire 100k+ epics worth of possible back stories for each of the characters. Just because the show hasn't. Maybe an individual story for each of the five, with possible backstories as individual chapters... Hmm....

Honestly, thats the kind of thing that makes me a fan of the show; the world building has incredible potential, yet they leave it to the fans to speculate it for them... it can be infuriating though.

I know the feeling, it seems to me that all of my favorite stories are the ones that go wildly in depth into a possible canon background...
One such case, being an explanation for how discord/sombra/NMM all happened to occur at the same 'one thousand years ago' mark... Can't remember the details or title, but it was something along the lines of Starswirl and Sombra being Celestia and Luna's students respectively, both eventually going mad from the power they eventually gained, Starswirl ended up shape shifting himself into Discord so he could live with Celestia forever, while Sombra sought immortality through the Crystals, to be with Luna. Of course, they both went insane and both had to be... put down. Luna, having loved Sombra, saw this as the straw that broke the camel's back for the whole NMM thing.
I really wish I could remember what fic that was... it was a good one.

Honestly, I loved it mostly for the idea of two brothers/students of the princesses going insane from having powers no mortal should of ever known of; and all of it was kind of the princess's fault even.

While that would be interesting, I for one like to think that the reason Discord is so insane is that when Starswirl put the pieces together; he included the very essences of all of the beasts he used. While maintaining his unicorn head, he still had the dragon, griffin, etc. in there with him, little voices and opinions on everything. To an immortal being, dealing with that many head voices would drive anything crazy.
Unfochantly, Lauren kind of confirmed that their dead. It's a shame we may never find out how that happened. My guess is that they were killed in the Everfree Forest by some monsters. Luckily that's where Fim fiction comes in. We can right stuff the writers can't.
