I've been writing and selling stories for longer than a lot of folks reading this have been alive. Check Baal Bunny for more!

As so many are these days:

While sitting in the dentist's office the other morning waiting to have my teeth cleaned and pressed, I heard for the very first time the Katy Perry original of the song. I've gotta say, Pinkie Pie's version has a lot more pep in it.

Two more unrelated items: "Third Century," the next chapter of Calling You is up and ready for perusing, and I finally found a photo on-line of the Nebula Awards' ceremony from a couple weeks back. I'm the guy with the beard, glasses, and semi-discernable Pinkie Pie t-shirt at this end of the line-up.

Everything is better ponified! :pinkiehappy:

I just saw a picture of John Perry the other day. So far, I'm 0 for 2 on crafting mental images of ponyfic authors which have any relationship whatsoever with their actual appearances. A belated congrats, by the way!

Speaking of topics that produced massive flame wars: you're an SFWA member, and seemingly everyone else who's connected to SFWA is commenting on Resnick and Malzberg's recent articles. Do you plan to post about them, or are you staying away from that particular quagmire?

I can only:

Agree with that.

Thanks!

I used to try and figure out what folks on the radio looked like from their voices, but I don't believe I ever came close. Of course, I can rarely recognize the voices of people who are supposed to be my family and friends when I answer the phone, so I guess it works both ways.

If there's one thing I've learned skulking around the edges of SFWA for 20 years, it's to never do more than that. At this Nebula thing, I knew the names of some authors because I'd read stories by them, but this was the first time I'd ever seen any of them in a non-fictional context. And I'd much prefer to keep it that way. Non-fiction in general--in life and in art--is just too hard for me, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Did...

Did you win a Nebula?

No, no:

I got the Service to SFWA award after someone suddenly noticed that I'd been running their Circulating Book Plan for 20 years. I like it that I've gotten a non-writing award from my writing organization...

Oh! Whew. It's good to have your work noticed though, innit? :D
