EQG Trailer

So I finally got around to watching this all the way through, and the only thing I have to say is...
"Meh."
The only things we know for certain from the trailer is that Twilight and Spike are the only ones who actually went through the magic mirror into the human world, and everyone else is just a counterpart to a pony back in the pony world (you can see Spike swirling just behind Twilight for a split second in the mirror scene). Humans can't appear to use magic, so Twilight's already miles out of her depth. The driving force seems to be for something called the Fall Formal Crown, which I hope Human Pie signed Twilight up for without asking. The one whom everyone assumes is Sunset Shimmer seems to have won the title in at least the past two years, and appears to be willing to go to extreme measures to ensure it stays that way.
At one point the girls are shown tossing around what appears to be the Element of Magic, and at some point "Shimmer" goes like Super-Saiyan, so it's safe to assume she's the villain.
And then there's the boy. I saw a comic at one point that pointed out that his hair color was similar to Shining Armor's, but other than that he... doesn't get much screen time, although Twilight was willing to throw a hug his way.

This is where assumptions start.

So, as I stated, everyone assumes the villain is Sunset Shimmer, who we had a blurb about some time ago. This is... a good enough assumption to probably presume it as fact. She has the same color scheme, same mark, the blurb says she knows a path to faraway adventures. What we don't know is actually what the hell is up with her. How long has she been in Humanville from the ponies perspective? How long has she been in Humanville from HER perspective? Why is she such a bitch? Has she been stuck living the same years of highschool for thousands of years? That'd probably drive anything to madness.

Boy, or Brad as I've heard him called, as I said, doesn't get a lot of screen time. As I said, his hair color is very similar to shining armors, and it's possible that Twilight's going to pick up on that and thenceforth be unable to think of him in a romantic sense. However, that doesn't mean HE won't think of HER in a romantic sense. I think this would actually be a nice reversal of roles. I, like almost everybody else, really wish Twilight doesn't decide he's swell and wants to keep him.

I've noticed that in like half of the scenes where Humanshy's on screen, she's got this half-lidded "Are you kidding me?" look on her face. Perhaps a depression subplot?

Finally, how is this going to collapse back into the status quo for season 4? What's going to happen to Humanshy, Rainbow Human, Human Pie, Humanjack and Humanity? Well, what if the mirror world... was of Sunset Shimmers own creation? If she's a former student of the princess and a possible paralell to Twilight, as her name seems to suggest, that would explain the school setting, and why everything seems to fall at her feet; she, Twilight, and Spike are the only ones in the whole world that are actually real, and, once defeated, the world falls apart. If the mirror world is malleable like that, it would also explain the presence of Twilight's friends; she wanted them there, so they appeared. Within the rules.

Like I said, this has potential to be good, and it has potential to be bad. The trailer doesn't really show enough to judge. Once again, the prudent thing to do would be wait and see.
