I'm terrified of unintentionally making something similar to someone else's work and being called a hack, or a copy-cat, or a plagiarizer. I literally have nightmares about this happening.
And this happens every time I finish something and post it online. No matter if it's a story or art or something else, this always happens to me.
I've started browsing a ton of other people's stories and making mental notes to not add certain things in. I'm really paranoid about this.
Damn, dude. That's some crazy shit.
But, you shouldn't worry about it. People are bound to have the same idea every now and again, and it's a-okay. Example, my story Love is Like Gravity has the main character that is an inventor, and I just happened to publish it when an inventor character was in the featured box (AFTER my story was up...) and someone thought I took an idea. All I did was state that it was the weirdest coincidence I've ever had anfd that I didn't steal their idea.
See? Easy peasy.
All you need to do is let what YOU think should happen in your stories happen. If someone else though of something similer, good for them. Don't worry you will unintentionally take someones idea, you can only take someones idea if you set out to do so, it's not an accident. If someone calls you on it, just say it's a conincidence.
Unless your Apple. Then fucking EVERYONE steals your ideas.
(Hope I helped.)
Yeah dude, I know it wouldn't really be a big deal, but I'm insane.
If someone mentioned that one of my things is similar to another person's I would seriously have a panic attack.

Here, I have an idea.
Any story you plan on publishing, run it by a few people first and let them tell you if it's like something that they've read before. Tehn, you can either change some things, scrap the fic, or go on ahead.
Or something like that. I don't know, I'm just a teenager.
