So I have an idea for a FlutterDash fic... · 7:24am May 6th, 2013
So it would be a dark alt-world fic exploring a budding romance between Discord influenced Fluttershy and Discord influenced Rainbow Dash.
The set up would be that the Mane 6 succumbed to their Discord personas during the events of "Return of Harmony." Discord then deposes the princesses (turning them to stone, most likely) and then takes the throne for himself. His victory is short lived, however, as the Dark-Mane 6 show up and kill Discord. They then carve up Equestria into six separate kingdoms, one for each of the Elements of Chaos: Cruelty, Treason, Falsehood, Avarice, Scorn, and Void.
So yeah, would this be something people would be interested in reading? Full disclosure, it would be quite dark but eventually genuine love would win out. Thoughts?

I like the premise, although there are a few things I would alter if I was to write it. I wouldn't create new kingdoms after the fall of Discord, rather I would allow Equestria to basically go wild and free in a way. Old towns and cities are either turned into primitive settlements or brought to ruin. Discord would have been banished or his physical form broken, but ultimately not killed. Celestia and/or Luna would have been the ones to step in and do the deed (but would cost them their lives), for the Elements of Harmony are nowhere to be seen. The Mane Six have simply scattered across the globe, trying to get as far away from each other as they possibly could till they forgot what they were running from. A grim dark world with no set boarders, no set boundaries, only unending and untamed chaos.
I like it.
I definitely am so intrigued by this premise! But I do agree, Discord shouldn't be killed, nor should other kingdoms be made, but I think if you can work around these ideas, you'll have a solid plot!
Overall, it's interesting! And it's FlutterDash...all the more incentive to check it out! Especially with them being influenced by Discord's mind-screwing!
1058257 Hmmm...I was a bit attached to the idea of the mane 6 as despots but perhaps some might find themselves in leadership positions in the various tribes.... I like the concept of sparing Discord though. Perhaps shattering his physical form. I definitely want him off the table, so to speak.
I think the reason I liked the idea of competing kingdoms was the room for political intrigue, sabatogue, assassination and the like. The reason I wanted Discord removed/killed was to pave the way for controlled chaos in the hooves of the Mane 6, as opposed to distopic anarchy. The reason for this being that while the Mane 6 were always humble as bearers of the Elements of Harmony, as the Elements of Chaos they would feel compelled to rule.
I like your concept but it feels like quite the departure from my starting point. I will give it serious thought though.
1058280 Yeah, I've already been down that whole road of tyrants and anarchists before. And to be honest I hate sticking to one theme for too long (save Flutterdash, that never seems to get old). Your concept is great, and in the end all I gave you was how I would change it personally if I were the one to write it.
1058257 Wait! Hold up... Just got an interesting idea to combine both concepts.
Two realities, two divergent paths: along one the Void takes leadership over the Dark 6 and they take usurp from Discord. Occasionally when Cruelty closes her eyes she dreams of a different life: One where Void was unable to gather her comrades, and the six fled to the wilds as society crumbled around them, slowly Discord's influence over them waned and they wander the wilds . They remember none of their past lives but regaining they original personas.

1058285 What we have here is a plot line taken straight from a Bioshock game (and that's a good thing in this situation). Walls of reality slowly cracking and breaking, different paths that should never had been tread are suddenly open. Possibilities.
Although you would really want to begin it on a simple premise without blowing the readers mind with information as soon as they step into it, slowly revealing what actually became of Equestria and every version of it since. And... now I'm rambling again.

1058300 never played the Bioshock games but I hear they're awesome! So I guess that is to say I'm humbled and honored by the comparison.
The idea for sepreate realities actually was more informed by the Japanese novel Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World where in alternating chapters the main character experiences two alternate lives.
For my story I think it might be a cool way for Cruelty/Fluttershy to regain bits of what she was, or at least be exposed to it. But yeah I'd definitely start out with a single narrative and then slowly explore the alternate reality. Don't want to overload the readers

I'd probably also have to put "Equestria Roadkill" (Tim Dorsey tribute), "Life Lived on Shuffle" (Chocoalate Cake Shots sequel), and "Manehatten Streets" ( Murder at Maresfield sequel) on the back burner.

1058326 Yeah, got the basic plot planned out and a bit of the first chapter written. Essentially we have RD taking up boxing (with Flutters cheering her on), Applejack vs. Rarity over the hand of Soarin (who may be interested in someone else entirely), and Twilight exploring her bicurious side with Pinkie playing match-maker. I may actually publish that concurrent with the Dark-fic just so I have something lighter to write when I'm not feeling the dark stuff.
My lack of a console/funds sorta makes that second part rough, but I can totally read up on their plot.
