    Proposal Problems

If you were able to decipher my code from last week you may have figured out what I am reviewing. Yes, it is Proposal Problems by PhonyPony. Here is the point in which I just explain the plot without having to make any valid points. Big Macintosh has been going out with fluttershy for a while now and he is going to pop the question and antics ensue.

What to me makes a good Fanfic.

I was thinking about what I would review next and then I remember one fic that was so good to review, that is Projdspokjksaloeir Projdhblemssdfjkdshf.

(To avoid spoilers skip) Proprosal problems is a freaking shipping fic. I am kidding, I don't hate shipping fics, as a concept. I hate how most shipping fics exploit the relationship rather than let it feel natural to the plot and have it explore that relation ship. Proposal Problems is not one of those god awful fics though the relationship feel natural to the plot and is not just there because the author likes it. But that is only half of the story, the humor is phenomenally well written and the jokes builds up well, in a good pacing curve.

Now there is one major issue and that is the ending. It is predictable, every one say it with me now, Fluttershy says Yes. But that problem is not as bad as it looks. The readers is not there to see the ending and how it plays out, he is there to see the heroes quest. (For clarity here is an analogy: The phrase 'the journey is better than the destination' in the sense of a narrative means that the reader wants to see the actions of the hero rather than the results of those actions.) However the ending still needs to be brought up because the best stories find a way to do both. The other problem is that I wish he established Fluttershy and Big Macintosh could have been developed more.

Proposal Problems is a well written fic that is the example of a good shipping fic, and despite the flaws it is one of my favorite fics. Get writing and as always Don't Forget To Be Awesome.

(Hint: Welcome to the Machine and the Wall that surrounds it.)
