Story Recommendation: 'Flashes on the Horizon'

I looked over this story before it went up on EQD and thought it was pretty rad. I can't espouse its virtues nearly as much as 'Erase and Rewind', but I'd definitely say people should check it out nonetheless. It's a quaint piece that deals with the idea of interpretation and perspective in regards to personal importance, and paints a nice feeling of helpless wonder throughout the entire story.

Progress Update (and stuff) · 6:14pm Mar 18th, 2012

Okay.

So for anyone curious, chapter three of Flutterlich is pretty much done - I just need to flesh out a scene in the middle and segue into the next bit, and it'll be ready for posting. My writing speed has been regrettably lethargic lately, but I have some time off coming up, and if I can will myself to spend some actual time focusing on writing then chances are I'll have it all done by Tuesday at the latest. So, that said, expect chapter three to go up around Wednesday. After that, chapter four is key priority, bringing the story around to a hopefully worthwhile conclusion.

After Flutterlich is done, I have several things on the docket. I'll be taking time to write a silly story that I hope will amuse the readership of fimfiction (which I must very pointedly note is the story's target audience), and then I've got something I've been wanting to do for a while.

An artist friend by the name of Obsidian Solitaire (Tumblr / DeviantArt) and I have been in talks about coalescing a collaborative creative effort for some time. While it's been on the backburner for both of us, I've finally decided to push it to the forefront of my literary focus - so after I've wrapped up the other two stories I have on the table, this is what's going to get the majority of my attention. I've only got one chapter completed right now, and as Obsidian is busy, he's only been able to contribute some sketches and the title art - but it's enough to get the ball rolling, at which point I hope the creative energy of the story will be enough to inspire further work. I intend to finish chapter two before I publish the story, so don't look for it for a while yet - it'll go up after Flutterlich and 'fimfiction mystery story' are done. The title of the narrative is 'Fovea', and I'm really excited to start working on it again.

Outside that, I'll probably be posting some of my older works on the site in the next couple of weeks after I give them some basic edit passes. Titles you might see showing up soon are "The Pride of Griffons", "Rainbow Dash's Confession", "Lunabeef", and perhaps a short-story assemblage of quicker pieces I've written as writing exercises.

That's all for now, and thanks to any and all who are interested in reading what I've written thus far. Your enjoyment is all the encouragement I need to keep working on this stuff.

Also, apologies to anyone who was offended by my last blog post. I stand by the overall message, but am well aware there are far friendlier ways I could have posited said message.

I may not enjoy all of your work (though that has nothing to do with the quality of your writing, just my personal preferences) but I always will look forward to what you may have in store in hopes that It'll interest me. You are a great writer as you've been told before.

A collab sounds pretty cool too. I will wait patiently to see what comes of it.

Wait. Wait, wait. Wait. WAIT... WAIT It's going to be only four chapters long? Well, that sucks. I was looking forward to Fluttershy bringing rise to the scourge in Equestria. Hordes of animal undead taking over city by city causing untold chaos and destruction.

I'm all kinds of jelly your doing a collab with RO.
