    Eh, why not

Hey there, horse word friends. Was cleaning up some old storage and found the occasionally discussed "alternate ending" to Twilight, Revised that I wrote and never publicly released. I've grown to dislike lost media, so in that spirit, figured I'd vomit it up nine years (GOOD LORD) late. It's not going on the main story as I think

    Follow up.

Real quick... I posted a few months ago with a Patreon related to my bad movie review blog, mentioning I was unemployed. Well, I have a job again, so no need to worry. Or give. (Unless you still want to.)

Just didn't want people to see only the last blog and worry.

Hope ponies are going well. See ya.

    Is this thing on?

Um... hey guys. I lost my job yesterday. (Yeah, they fired me just before Labor Day weekend. My former employers are hilarious.) I've known this was coming for around two months now, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find another job yet.

    Fin.

(Big ol' disclaimer: pretty much entirely personal crap. Skip if you're so inclined.)

Contrary to popular opinion, I'm bothered by a lack of resolution on a personal level. So, here I am again. This is going to sound a bit rambly, as I was slightly drunk while writing some of this.

Just a quick link for you all... · 11:28pm Mar 29th, 2013

A website that tests what gender an author is was brought to my attention.

After posting four stories of mine in there, it is convinced that I have a vagina, which I find hilarious. The other folk in the chat I learned of it from got similar misreads.

Does this come out accurately for anyone?

Every story of mine I've since input returns that I am female.
It's nice to know that I could pass, but the beard stays, yo.:moustache:

Welp, three for three, it seems :rainbowlaugh:

Though only tested with one of mine

It thinks that I'm a girl. Weird, because I posted a 9/11 fic. Guess I use a lot of "feminine" words.

Tested it out with each chapter of ETC. It came up with 6 male chapters and 1 female chapter. So mostly accurate. That said, each result was VERY close, with only a hundred words or so separating Male from Female in the scale.

One thing I have to wonder, though, is how the results are going to be skewed by the source material. After all, the majority of characters on My Little Pony are female, and thus when we write, we end up using things like "she" and "her" more than we use "he" and "his." So if someone is submitting their fics from MLP, it's gonna feel more feminine-slanted.

Then again, it came up mostly male for me, so who knows.

If my mathematical workings out are right, I'm about 75% female. First chapter of Red Shetland is female, second is male. Current chapter of the derpy fic I'm writing in secret (aw fudge there goes that!) is female. The majority of various other bits of fiction are also female...

I have a sneaking suspicion everything the wife writes will be classified as male.

What a steaming pile. :twilightoops:

It thinks I'm female as well, but that's actually a common response I get from real people. I wouldn't put too much stock in it though, since among the words it considers 'feminine' are simple pronouns like "she" and "her," so writing about a show with almost entirely female characters is going to skew it something awful (and is kind of silly, to be honest.)

Female Score: 34987, Male Score 21583
... I need to order some testosterone.

weird. my non serious stuff is weakly masculine

my serious stuff is strongly feminine

I gave it The X Fillies, plus the unfinished second chapter, and it said I'm male. Weird, everyone else seems to be lacking in the dangler department, but my commitment issues are apparently just that muscular and tasty.

I have to wonder, given the results of all my stories, why do I even need to shave?

Yeah, I'm not taking it too seriously. This is just for a bit of fun!

957230
om nom

957232 Wait, I've got it! *Her* *Pony* *Princess*! That's why it keeps calling everyone a girl! If we fed it part of Slash's autobiography, it would overload from the manliness and drugs and cause the server to catch fire, thereby protecting the masculinity of every man who likes writing about tiny lesbian horses wait a second...

Well, last time I checked, I was male, but let's check what the internet thinks of me.
...
...
...Female.
Huh, apparently lesbians should consider dating me. The beard is obviously nothing to worry about after all. :facehoof:

All of my stories returned that they were masculine. :duck:

It said I have a penis. I don't have a penis.

957241 You can borrow mine if- fuck, wait that just sounds creepy...

I'm leaving now.

Never to return.

Did you check twice? If so check again to be sure. Science is hardly wrong. I'm sure by including ponies and magic that this weird science calculates just about anyone as female :P

EDIT: Oh gawd... by this chart alone just about every author on FimFic is a girl

Feminine Keywords? |Masculine Keywords?

Girly words: With, If, Not, Where, Be, When, Your, Her, We, Should, She, And, Me, Myself, Hers, Was.

MANLY MAN YEEEAAAAH! words: Around, What, More, Are, As, Who, Below, Is, These, The, A, At, Many, Said, Above, To.

Someone needs to take up the challenge to write a fic with no words that are not that of your gender. Challenge has been laid down! WHO HAS ATTEMPT THE IMPOSSIBLE?!

957243 Don't worry. As someone who's never had a boyfriend, I find it flattering.

957237
Eh.

If one's gonna write pony fanfic, odds are masculinity isn't a big concern. I don't care much one way or the other, myself.

I only barely got male (just over one hundred points difference) on something that had only two female characters, both in very brief scenes. One of them was never referred to using a pronoun, due to brevity and narrative trickery.

Well, I threw it the best chapter out of each of my three current stories here. It told me the passage with a male main character was male. It told me that the two passages with female main characters were female.

Also tried it on a couple of my blog posts, specifically world-building and writing related ones. The one on world-building came out female, the one on writing came out male.

I find this all... quite unsurprising. My enormous lumberjack beard belies the fact that within my breast beats the heart of a romantic schoolfilly.

It took five stories for it to peg me as male. Thankfully, said manly tale was my current work in progress, which is just fine by me. :3

Female Score: 0
Male Score: 40
The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: male!

I came up as "mineral." What should I do?

I got mostly male responses back on my stories. This wasn't terribly surprising, but then I decided to test individual chapters. While all my chapters of Red Wings came up "Male", and the majority of chapters from Overpinking It came up "Male", Consonance (written with female protagonists) and the chapter of Overpinking It that was done in Pinkie Pie's POV came up female.

Meaning that when I'm writing male protagonists, I write like a man, and when I'm writing female protagonists, I apparently write like a woman?

I suppose that makes sense.

957421
I got back female results for all my Eagle Eye stuff that I plugged in.

...Then again, that's not saying much...

I plugged in the second chapter of Your Beutifull and barely got male. I wonder if it's possible to be transgendered?

Wow, it took me three first chapters from different stories to convince the damned thing I don't sing soprano, and that only marginally. :facehoof:

Maybe there should be a FimFiction Genre option...

Absolutely fabulous! :raritywink:

In Her Sanctuary - Female

Cooling Off - Female

I Could Just Eat You Up - Male

Pony Age: Origins - Overwhelmingly Male

Makes sense, I suppose. I am curious, have you ever tried these two writing algorithm links?

http://iwl.me/ - Finds out who you write similar to

http://www.standards-schmandards.com/exhibits/rix/index.php - Finds the grade level of your writing.

957943
I know I've done the "who you write similar to" one, but not the grade level. That one could be interesting.

I just tried two of my own stories... both, I am apparently female. One by a fairly large amount and the other just.

One had a female protagonist, the other was male only.

... Yeah, not accurate at all.

Whodda thunk that "and" was a female word.

I am male, although barely.
And apparently, "the", is the single most masculine word in the universe

Turns out I'm female! I KNEW IT! This thing between my legs isn't supposed to be there!!! At least, according to this thing, it isn't.:pinkiehappy:

good old trapdoor Vimbert strikes again.

THE MESSIAH OF ANDROGYNY HAS COME AS FORETOLD IN THE PROPHECY

The first try was female, but then every other time female. Sometimes it was really close and never overwhelmingly one side or another. Like 9-10 thousand female larger came up a few times. But yea, her, hers, and she being keywords is going to slant all MLP fiction somewhat. I didn't actually try anything else because I'm lazy, but I have lots of female chars anyway so it probably wouldn't matter.
