I know you're not actually depressed about Twilicorn canon, but I am re-posting this here from CvBrony's blog because it seems relevant:
I still don't understand how this affects 'anything' at all. I can't imagine you humored any thoughts of canon when Twilight nearly broke somepony with physical strength at least. (You can replace this with the crossbow thing.)
Why does it matter what canon does at this point? That doesn't make your story any less fun or interesting. A lot of people read and write fanfiction specifically because it can do things and go places that the show can never go, and it's fun to read more 'mature' takes on Twilight's ascension, and alicorns in general.
