So, just watched the Episode concerning Twilight's apparent Ascension to Goddesshood. and Star-Swirl's role (indirect or not) in it.
I must say, I'm rather surprised at how much I managed to get right, or at least missed well within the margin of error.
Star-Swirl working on a last spell that is left unfinished, some sort of Interdimensional Void where Alicorns exist but normal ponies cannot, ascention to Alicornism being unheard of...
As to Cadence, I have seen no evidence one way or the other suggesting that she's anything other than a unicorn born with wings due to a one in a million genetic odds. Furthermore, neither Cadence, nor Goddess!Twilight have the large figures of Celestia or Luna, suggesting that while they have Unicorn and Pegasus abilities, it's doubtful that they have Earth Pony in the mix. And if Twilight does (elements of harmony were involved after all), then it isn't 100% like with the Sisters.
Oh, and Alicorn is a thing, so Fanon Haters need to shut up now.
My personal headcanon is that Cadence and now Twilight are more along the lines of demigods (fridge logic about Cadence's relationship with Shining Armor kind of pushed me in that direction)
I'm not quite sure that Celestia and Luna are actually Godesses themselves; they're just powerful and with very long lifespans, which comes standard for Alicorns. I think with those two, it's a case of their bodies that continually grow as Alicorns get older (sort of like reptiles). Either that or different powers/abilities means different body sizes.
Also, Twilight body did get a little bigger when she became an Alicorn, so she does have Earth Pony attributes. And Cadence and Luna are relatively the same size, yet her young variant from Canterlot wedding flashbacks shows her to have been closer to the size of average ponies back then. Go Figure.
According to the tie in book,(SPOILER WARNING) Cadance was originally a pegasus, and ascended when she stopped a nascent Sombra-like villian (she had a magic and emotion amplifying amulet made from the same sort of crystal as the Crystal Heart.) with nothing but love and tolerance. The crystal reacted to that, and Cadance ended up in the same cosmic realm that Twilight entered years later, which is where Celestia found her, having turned into an alicorn.
Whatever the case, Twilight isn't all-powerful and would still lose in a race with Rainbow Dash, an apple buck-off with Applejack, and a magic duel with the King of Tartarus.
