So yeah, I've decided that HPLovecolt, well, just isn't me. To be honest, I don't know if it ever really fit me. It's a name that I have to admit that I enjoyed going under but well, I don't know I just felt that there was a disconnect recently. You can still call me Lovecolt if you want, don't really care all that much. But within the past year, I've become more and more enamoured with a character of mine named Raven Horn. I started wanting to use her in chats for a while, just a s a change of pace from HP Lovecolt, but after a while more and more people started to associate me more with Raven than Lovecolt. And well, it makes sense for me to make this transition. I'm discovering myself more now, coming to terms with the idea that I'm a woman regardless what I was born, coming to terms with the idea that I am more madly in love than I ever could have realised, and coming to terms with the fact that everyone misgenders me when I'm Lovecolt. So yeah, Lovecolt is now a relic. I do want to use the character that I came up for with him, but he's just not me, and I'm not him. I'm not a Lovecraftian Horror writer, and though I look up to Lovecraft I'd much rather write stories that challenge interpersonal character struggles and ask hard questions as opposed to trying to write horror stories.
Just to be clear, I'm still going to continue the stories I had been writing, I'm still going to write in the same style, I'm still going to be me. It was just a change that I've been sitting on for a while, and one that I had made up my mind weeks ago to do. I was just stalling, hesitating and waiting for that right time to change. Talking with some people in an IRC chat convinced me that now was a good time, rather than further down the road when I might have a larger fanbase than I necessarily do now.
So yeah, TL;DR version, I am still HPLovecolt, but I have decided to change my name to Hipster Pony Raven Horn. Thank you all for understanding. <3
