Last Philosophy-----> Thoughts...
I have no idea what I'm doing, but this is just something that I want to do.
In my last "Philosophy" blog, I told you about how powerful a simple question can be. This time, I want to tell you of another bit of insight, just to get you to think.
Memories.
Just what are they? Just little bits of information? Or are they more?
Better question. What makes a memory?
Something you did that left an imprint on you, or do they just "Happen"?
Finally, How do we DEFINE a memory?
An event that took place in our past that we remember. A time that we can think of in the present. Simple.
But what about our future memories?
That's an idea that may be impossible, but what do we do when we think of the future? We imagine what will happen, and whatever does happen....happens. This isn't what I think. I believe that our assumptions of our future is a memory in itself. What we want to be when we grow up. How we want to spend our lives. Who we want to spend our lives with. Even Why we want to live. Fantasies that we turn into memories.
If a fantasy is strong enough, then it will become our dream. It will become our goal to work towards. A dream that, once we achieve it, becomes a memory.
True, not all dreams come true. True, we can change our dreams. And true, our fantasies are just that. Fantasies. They're not real, but we can make them real by working towards it in life. Even having the fantasy in the first place....that too can become a memory.
Memories.....

Ah.... Memories....
Memories and people are often quite alike. There are those that you only see every once in a while; those that you see every day. There are those that make you mad, feel foolish, or laugh at how ridiculous the world can truly be. There are ones that inspire you, that ire you, that you truly admire. There are those you make with someone else, like a child born of fondness, and those that you shun because of who it was made with. Memories are the best and worst part of a human mind, because we can remember that which brings us pain, forget that which makes us smile, see that fateful day in the rain, or the day we spent as carefree children, but for a little while. Memories can be long, short, of those young and old, and they can be forgotten, or strengthened. We treasure some, and let others become buried by the metaphorical dust that invades our minds as surely as it does the attics and cellars of even the cleanest of people. Memories are the map that shows us what paths we took in life, where we might have changed our path, and what obstacles we faced. A wise man once said that a man without his memory is no more worthless than a man with his memory. The only difference is that the man without will always be considered stupid. No one wants a man who might forget where they hid the body, but they never realize the simple truth that the man who does remember will always know where the body is, and that can be evermore worse.

To me, Memories are a way to keep track of things. Little curses or little blessings too depending on how one percieves them. That may also include dreams thought about regarding the past, present and future; It was concieved afterall so there's no reason to discard them from memories.
Here's another meaning I have regarding memories: Final Fantasy IX, Cowboy Bebop, Lupin III.
