Thoughts.... · 8:01am Jan 29th, 2013
It's late at night. I just finished watching a pretty scary Let's Play on YouTube. And I also read a simple short story that just...spoke to me.
The story itself was called "Dreams" by The TraxicEnd (Here's a link) and it just....wow.
It's such a simple story that has no real plot, but at the same time it speaks of something more. You might not see this, but for some reason I just feel...thoughtful? Confused? I little bit of both really. It introduced an idea to me that I thought was interesting. Granted, it was probably done by someone else before, but not in the way that was depicted there.
It also brought up a rather tricky subject that I've been thinking about lately. A topic that I may incorporate into my story. Or multiple stories really. And the subject is quite simple too.
Questions.
There are literally thousands...MILLIONS of them really...and yet they all start out relatively the same. By starting with "Who" or "What". By beginning with "Where" and "How".
The most powerful one of all though....is "Why"
Think about it. The question of Why is the start of a child's first questions of the world. "Why is the sky blue?" "Why does the wind blow?" "Why is you finger up your nose?"
Children ask silly questions using "How" and "Who", but their trickiest are often beginning with "Why".
As a child gets older, their questions get trickier. "Why do you hunt?" "Why am I here?" "Why is this broken?"
It isn't until the child learns from his mistakes that he or she start asking the bigger questions. Questions that are hard to answer, or normally only get a half-answer.
"Why did she leave us?"
"Why didn't you go?"
"Why does this feel so wrong?"
"Why is he dead?"
Or simply just..."WHY?"
This single question is used so often that we hardly seem to notice. Only when it is used to ask a particularly tricky question do we take note.
Mind you, I only chose to share with you in this after I read a simple story that may not be written quite as good as some stories, but still spoke wonders in my mind. Not only that, but this has NOTHING to do with it. I chose to share this because I wanted to. And only AFTER I read that story.
And with that, I bid you all goodnight, or good morning to some! In any case, I'll be going to bed now to...think. To Question. To DREAM
Don't just Think Freely tonight, DREAM Freely as well.
Dream a better Dream my Friends.

Not sure WHAT came over me. I just read that story and just got down and wrote this.
