I promise I'm not! I'm just really busy getting my Air Force recruitment stuff out of the way. My time will be limited after that, but I'm still working on the new Yesterday chapter in bits and pieces. It's a hard story to write, but next chapter should have some pretty interesting bits in it.
Wait... Air Force? I take it your trying to join? Oh, I have so many fun and wonderful things I'd love to tell you about Lackland!
Any idea what job you want?

I'm trying to get linguistics, but admin is also at the top of my list. I took the AFOQT last month and did average in math, crashed (HA, PUNS) pilot/navigation, and pretty much aced verbal. Now that I'm going in as enlisted, I might as well try to get the job I want. Plus, I have a liberal arts bachelor degree. Might as well play to my strengths (of being useless).
802875 Outstanding! Linguistics, from what I've heard, can be tough to get into but I wish you luck! Having a degree will definitely put you ahead of the curb though. I take it you placed well on your ASVAB? Whatever you do, (I don't know if you're doing active or guard) do NOT let your recruiter push you around to pick a job! Contrary to what they'll tell you, you have plenty of time for something you want to open. If you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to PM me and I can "bestow" upon you my wisdom. There's lots I can tell you about basic/tech school, etc...
Btw, I'm a crew chief. I fix jets.

I'll settle my job at MEPS with the councillor. My recruiter is a pretty straight-forward guy; I've met two people who are on delayed deployment so they can get into the admin and linguistic jobs they wanted and they went through him.
My grandad was an aircraft mechanic way back when, which got me interested in the AF to start with. He was having a good time until they shipped him off to Korea, lol.
Anyway, give me some basic tips. I'm fairly old (26), and I'm worried I'll be the oddball. Everyone says that's not the case, but I can't help but worry.
As for ASVAP, I scored mid-70s on the practice one I took in the recruiter's office. More studying in store for me these next few weeks.
Oh Korea... Actually, if you volunteer Korea for your first duty station, it's only a 1 year stint and from there you get any base of your choice. That actually gives a good idea of what airframe he was probably on...
Sounds like you got a good recruiter. Some are kinda shifty and aren't much better than a used car salesman. I wanna say you have up to 12 months from when you finish your paperwork and swear in to actually leave for basic. Don't hold me to that though, that bits a little foggy.
Ha 26... Erm I mean... Well I'm 25 and I just went through last year, and surprisingly, there's a lot of "older guys", not just kids out of high school. The oldest in my flight at basic was 29 (there were some guys older than that in other flights). I had the same concern but it's not an issue once you're down there. There was a dorm chief in another flight who was turning gray!
There is a ton of stuff I could tell ya. It would probably be best to send a PM. If you have any specific questions I can answer those and maybe I could go into detail from there.

Sure. I'll think up some and shoot them your way later. I'm sure I'm just freaking out over the little things, but I can't help it.
