Story Recommendation: Paradise. (Story Still Incomplete) · 5:46pm Feb 1st, 2013
Ever thought of how life was during the Paleopony (I think that's the age in the story) era? Well, this amazing story written by Slywit let's you observe the world in this era when Celestia and Luna were still innocent fillies. The story is still incomplete.
The story begins during the Celestia's birth in the Earth Pony herd. Her parents were happy of her birth, but they found something about her that worried them. She was still an earth pony, but her coat and mane/tail colours weren't normal. She had pure white coat and her mane and tail were flowery pink. The rest of the herd were worried that her unusual colours would attract predators. The next chapter gives us Luna's birth in the same herd and she had the same reactions from the herd due to her midnight blue coat and silvery-blue main and tail. Celestia, as you can imagine, was very happy that she had a sister to play with.
The story progresses with the sisters growing up as earth ponies in their herd, showing us the hard life they had to endure, Celestia and Luna growing a horn, living with the Unicorn herd to learn magic, the unicorns demanding an inquiry from Celestia about her life as an earth pony and trying tell her that it is impossible that she was ever an earth pony, Luna's imprisonment, Luna growing a pair of wings, their escape from the unicorns, travelling in the Everfree Forest in search of pegasi, finding the (disorganised) pegasi in a barely hidden mountain cave, Celestia getting bullied by the pegasi while trying to find the leader of the Pegasus herd, finding out (with Celestia's frustration) that the pegasi have no herd, Celestia growing her own pair of wings while saving a pegasus foal from falling to his death, the legend of the First Pegasus, realising why the pegasi have no need of herds, flying 'lessons', their first real flight, and meeting a Cockatrice in the Forest at night.
Why do I recommend it:
1. It has a feel of heartwarming innocence radiating from Celestia and Luna.
2. It shows us the world when ponies were merely herds of wild ponies living before history.
3. The early legends mentioned in the story are interesting and fun to read.
4. It has good world building.
5. It is very descriptive on the surroundings of the scene.
