Thoughts on Alicorn Twilight · 8:02pm Jan 29th, 2013
So, it looks more and more like Twilight’s going to become an alicorn. Even Tara Strong confirmed it on Twitter. Count me among those who aren’t happy about this. But I’m also following the advice of those who say that I should wait and see before I judge. Still, I’m not happy, and when I’m not happy, putting my thoughts down helps me. I’m doing it here so it’s not lost among the morass of comments on EQD and Ponychan.
The season finale was written by M.A. Larson. Larson episodes like Magic Duel and It’s About Time are generally very good at entertaining, but very bad at being unpredictable. And I’m hoping something unpredictable happens, because all the courses that I would call obvious are problematic.
Course 1: Twilight gets her wings, then loses them or gives them up.
Problem: How is it fair to Twilight to give her something awesome, then take it away? It’s also saying that she deserves to be awesome, but doesn’t get to enjoy it.
Course 2: Twilight gets her wings, joins Celestia, Luna, and Cadance as princesses.
Problem: A barrier has now been established between her and all the non-princess ponies on the show. Set aside the question of immortality for the moment, since the show probably won’t address it. Why does Twilight deserve to be a princess and not Fluttershy for reforming Discord? Zecora for stopping Ponyville from becoming Trixieville? Rarity for putting up with not getting her own episode?
Course 3: Twilight (possibly with Cadance joining her) takes over for Celestia and Luna, who ascend to a higher plane of existence. The Willy Wonka ending.
Problem: Why do C. and L. have to leave? Why can’t they rule over Equestria forever? Nopony dislikes them, in fact, everypony loves them. MLP should be about building things through friendship, not about having to give things up.
Course 4: Twilight gets her wings, then pulls off her Mission Impossible disguise to reveal that she was really Derpy the whole time.
Problem: Only that it won’t happen.
As I said, I will wait and see. But generally MLP:FiM lives up to my expectations. No less, but no more. I hope for once it has more.
I hope she get's her wings at the beginning of the episode and is confronted with the consequenses.
She would be immortal, but that would mean she would outlive her friends and family.
She would be a princess, but will most certainly have no time for anyone because of this.
Maybe other things too, but my mind isn't coming up with other things right now.
And at the end of the episode she decides, because of the above mentioned reasons, to give up her wings, immortality and being a princess to live a happy life with her friends and family and make the best out of it, mastering adventures, friendship lessons and the normal crazyness of life.
I really hope it ends that way. For the sake of everyone who loves this show, young or adult.
Also I think the gusy from Hasbro should consider making My Little Dashie into a movie. This story just deserves it.
I know someone is already making this, but they have other possibilities and could make it a big win for everyone.

The worst thing of it, is that it actually MAY happen. But I doubt it. The guys running the show are competent. Just because Lauren Faust is not with them, doesn't mean they are going to screw up the show beyond repair. Even if Hasbro is butting in now.
I hope Hasbro understands that alienating the bronies is going to be bad for business. I'm a 31 years physician and I just love the show enough to still pay for stuff in the Gameloft game. I buy ponies monthly, almost. And the important thing here is that I don't need anyone's permission to do this. I have my own money and it IS going to the ponies. The thing is, I don't watch the cartoon because I like the toys, understand?
Well, I have high hopes that this is going to be for the best. I'm not a professional writer and I have been able to make this work in a roleplaying game over chat (waaaay before this came up
) I guess my point is: we should have faith in the guys who make our beloved ponies.
Because she'll say "friendship is magic" and prefer to be with her friends than the princesses.

It's the sadest story I read until now and A Summer Twilight was sad too, but not as sad as MLD.
I thank you though for bring ing up that story to me. I'll give it a read later on, but have a shitload of things to do for now.
If you know other really heartbreaking sad stories just give me the link. I like to read them once in a while.
