So I have a Question... · 4:15am Jan 27th, 2013
After someone mentioned this in the comments on IoA, I've started thinking, and have been thinking on it all day. Personally, I can't make up my mind, so I thought I'd put the question out there for you fine fellows.
So, basically it comes down to this; do you think I should replace the Comedy tag on The Irony of Applejack with a Sad tag instead? I can't have it both ways, so I was just wondering...
Personally, I don't really want to change it, only because pairing Dark and Sad tags might make people think this is going into grimdark territory, which I'm against. The story isn't supposed to be sad, per se, but emotional. I don't know if that counts as sad, though...
But at the same time, the more I think about it - and with what I have planned for future chapters - keeping a comedy tag might be a bit dubious. I don't want this to be a total Debbie Downer, but well...
So I want to hear your opinions on the matter.
Once again, I want to thank everyone for their fantastic support and feedback. Really, I've been updating so fast because all of the comments I've been getting just puts me in the mood to keep going.
In other news, I'm going to start working on Chapter 6 tonight and might have it out by Monday. No promises, though.
Hmmmm excellent question. I'd prefer a comedy myself, I don't like having my feels ripped out of me all the time...
Hmm if its that hard, get rid of the comedy tag and dont replace it with anything.
And yes, please moar!
It's hard to say, without knowing what you intend. But I mean, look at my story Asylum - some might think that it deserves a [Dark] tag, but I think it comes down to authorial intent and your interpretation of the tag's meaning. I mean, I think a [Comedy] tag should be saved for those where the main goal is comedy, not just something that happens within the chapters.
But yeah, the [Dark] + [Sad] combo in my mind does imply grim-dark territory. Between then, I might stick with the [Sad] over [Dark]. However, so far I haven't seen much need for either tag in your story. It has emotional depth, but its not [Sad] or [Dark], per se, at this point.
But again, it all depends on where you go. If you end up going [Sad] or [Dark], then they might be justified. But right now, I don't see much reason for it. If anything, it seems more like a straight up [Adventure] and [Alternate Univ.], with some good character and plot development within the [Adventure] that does hit you in the feels.
Also, have I ever told you how jealous I am of your talent and productivity?
I would remove the comedy tag, as IoA doesn't really strike me, personally, as a comedy. But It's not really a 'sad' fic either. *shrug*
Well...you could just use the old meaning of the word comedy, tragedy followed by some form of closure and things get better...though I'm sure that there are many meanings to what the old definition of comedy is. But anyway, going with the oldschool version of comedy is what I think would fit...though this site doesn't go too detailed with it's tags.
I wouldn't call it sad, but it's definitely not a comedy.
Being, a fan of heavily westernized novels. Or in essence the Western Novels, yes cowboys. I find that comedy is a rather great gift found in literature. For, I still find it rather amusing.
However, It does seem to have a lack within the story ignoring the slight at the beginning.. yes it would be advisable to simply drop the comedy tag.

Alright, general consensus is that I drop the Comedy tag. From hence forth, the Irony of Applejack is going to be tagged [Dark][Adventure][A/U]
Thank you all for your input! It is most appreciated.
