Shortly before New Year I posted up a small surge of writing. Two new works in Chaos is a friend of mine and Simply Signal SOS and a new chapter of Just One Week. As well as these I was also working on the next chapter to Scootaloo's Mother.
It's an interesting experience to finally meet your limit.
When I write something I have a basic plan as to how it will go. I have an idea what I want to happen but I'm not so rigid I won't change the plot for any ideas that occur on the spur of the moment. Usually this plan stays in my head. But it turns out trying to develop four stories at once and keep that only on a mental checklist, is a little too much. Details get forgotten and quality suffers.
Over the last couple of weeks, for those few hours of spare time I have, I've been writing down my mental checklist, making a written plan of the chapters. Some of them I've run through quickly, getting done in a day or so; even allowing me spare time to jot down an idea for another fic or two, which I'll write only when the others are done. Others however, aren't stumping me in ideas, but surprising me in length. New ideas kept occurring to me in the planning, twists, turns and exciting things that keep pushing the ending back. Chaos is a friend of Mine , for example, I thought would be a ten chapter fic, sixteen at the very outside. I have currently finished making notes for chapter 30 and I have a ways to go yet.
Simply signal SOS I thought might be six chapters, I've recently finished notes for chapter 5 and I think I might be only half way through.
I have finished planning Scootaloo's Mother, and Just one week and I'm half done planning Simply Signal SOS. Once I've finished the whole chapter plans I'll be getting back to the writing.
It's odd how long it is in real life compared to how long it seems in your mind. Much like a lot of things in life I suppose.
So be ready for new chapters by this time next week.
...now I have that song "Staying Alive" stuck in my head... great! Oh well!
And thanks for the news update! It's great to hear that there should be some new stuff coming out soon!
