Okay, who gave Applejack a song? Seriously, who's the wise guy? ... I'm just kiddin', I'm thrilled to see she finally got an episode that really was all her own. Woop woop mah brotherin, woop woop. Look at all them Apples! Even Turnip Truck is an Apple! All these cousins and second cousins and third cousins and fourth cousins and at some point it's like "are you even my cousin girl" and you're like "prolly not" and she's like "wanna make out?" and then you have three kids and they don't have weird deformities because you're unrelated enough and your family doesn't really have a history of inbreeding anyway.
Oh, and we're writing letters to Celestia again... apparently. I thought Twilight was beyond... ah, well why am I complaining? It's been such a hallmark thing previously that I'm glad to see it make a return... although Applejack really needs to work on her hand... mouthwriting. Yeah... Also, uh, BRAEBURN. I'm a little sad he didn't say or do anything much, but this was Applejack's episode! Nunathat AaaAaaaAPPLELOOSA nonsesne. GET THAT OUTTA HERE. Also, there is a town called "Tall Tale Town" or something. I need to go back and check that because DESTINATION DESTINATION DESTINATION.
Aaanyway,
I've only got one, big, fat complaint: I wanted a little light shined on Applejack's parents! JUST A LITTLE. The speculation is that the shooting stars are supposed to mean they're dead, but I'm not buyin' that... even if it makes a lot of sense. Would it really be so bad if someone came out and just said it? Ah well, it is what it is.
Oh, and I died when I saw Applejack as a foal. When I got to Hell, Princess Celestia brought me back to life just so I could die again for the exact same reason. Luckily, I've read Pictures For Sad Children, so I know how to get out of Hell myself.
Anywho,
Good episode. Didn't knock my socks off, but not every episode can. The song was good, but not my favorite, but not every song can be my favorite. Worth the wait, good as good is. I can't really complain.
Oh, and one more thing,
There is no fuckin' way to put up a barn in less than a day.

In other news, I'm a bit miffed that I can't sort through one's watchers by name. Pictures aren't really helpful to remember who someone is. If I must search through the follows of one who has a few hundred followers, my brain will implode.
After reading this, I am in agreement with a lot of what you said. I would of liked to have seen something of AJ's parents. Hell, I would have been happy with a photo and AJ looking at it longingly for a few seconds. SOMETHING to prove that they existed at some point in time and that AJ didn't just magically appear (which is a completely different topic for another day).

But no seriously, they must of had some fast drying paint and are just ridiculously good at putting up buildings quickly. Clearly they are not up to par as our standards since OSHA would of had a shit fit if they entered that job site and you saw how quickly that barn collapsed from just a wagon going into its side. A wall I could see falling down, but the entire building? Cheaply made building.
With a crew that size, you might be able to raise a barn in a day, assuming you made all the neccesary preparations the day before. If you're using modern materials like sheet metal siding it gets way easier. I speak from experience.
I wasn't too hot on the song. It just seemed a little flat. Now, if we had a duet with Big Mac...
As for AJ's parents, if they weren't in this episode, I'd say they probably won't ever be.
I rather liked the fruit bats.
My biggest problem was signing the letter at the end, "Your humble subject." I hate being reminded that Equestria doesn't have elections.
