Some Art of a More Pleasant Sort

Because I am obsessive about those sorts of details, I had to know if the captain's gig could plausibly fit on Nebula's main deck with her gasbag fully inflated. I wrote a scene where that happens, and a little voice at the back of my head kept nagging at me to make sure I wasn't describing something that couldn't be done. Turns out after a morning of modeling and measuring, the gig can fit—just

    Update to the Glossary

As expected, sharp-eyed readers have spotted several errors and typos in the glossary for The Cadenza Prophecies and I have gone about fixing them. Nothing noteworthy there, but I also made a major overhaul to one of the illustrations that only served to explain one term. Now it is much more useful:

The Glossary and Illustrations Chapter is Live!

I decided to append the glossary to the end of the story. Turns out it's longer than any of the chapters. :twilightoops:

It will remain the last chapter even as new chapters come out. As I recall, that created some issues with quoting comments or something like that in The Skyla Pseudonym, so be aware of that if you want to comment on the glossary itself.

    Enjoy!

Awesome!!:yay: I remember you mentioning this as a concept years ago. Glad to see that it has finally become a reality!:pinkiehappy:

…Although, I’m a little sad remembering that the Lulu prints were shut down, so we probably won’t get a printing when this is complete. Or, at least, not in the same likeness.:fluttershysad:

Ooh! :raritystarry: I’d totally forgotten this final entry in the series would be how the events of the movie would play out in your AU. 2017 movie AUs have long held a fascination for me – not least for my earliest attempts at a movie-like ponyfic adventure novel being rewrites of it – but most tend to miss the needle. The movie’s so overstuffed and underdeveloped that most folks just aren’t ruthless enough in changing things. If anyone can be that ruthless and make it work, it’d be you – I wouldn’t be surprised if this doesn’t use any of the road movie locales they visit and the characters there, and I wouldn’t blame you at all if that were so.

Right now I can’t remember much about your Twilight in the later books beyond being scarily hyper-competent and never having even the slightest flicker of doubt in her confidence, but the more violent tendencies that short description teases is ringing a bell too. I’m certainly intrigued by the potential character arc. Antihero or a tragic fall from grace…? :applejackconfused:

Haven’t yet decided how I will go about reading this, but I am seriously considering doing so by starting close to or right when it finishes (by which point I will have reread and reviewed the first, but likely not any others). I certainly am not waiting until I’ve reread all the prior ones (even if I shift out The Skyla Pseudonym that this takes before), that’s for sure. :rainbowdetermined2: Helps that they are, as I recall, mostly standalone, bar the start and end context of the prior one(s). :raritywink:

You beat me to it, you bastard :ajsmug:

"Helps that they are, as I recall, mostly standalone..."

This one really leans heavily on The Twilight Enigma, so I would suggest familiarity with that one, at least.

"...never having even the slightest flicker of doubt..."

Which, I feel I have to point out, is a huge character flaw. Unshakeable confidence is what you get when nothing has ever gone disastrously wrong for you.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this when you get around to reading it. It's more of my "summer movie" stuff, so there won't be many surprises in style or tone.

Well, there's the Ministry of Image collection, and there are other options. I intend to get a print copy of it out somehow.

Appreciated. Though even if it’s been a few years, I still read it more recently than a lot of the people who will be returning for this fic almost eight years after Enigma concluded. Can I name the OCs in it? No. Can I name the rough plot, style, and story endpoint? But of course.

Which, I feel I have to point out, is a hugecharacter flaw. Unshakeable confidence is what you get when nothing has ever gone disastrously wrong for you.

Oh, I am well aware. Just because few authors can actually pull that off successfully doesn’t mean I forgot that it is a thing that can sometimes be done well. I don’t think you interpreted my words as being any kind of blanket “hyper-confident and competent characters are a poor choice” statement, anyway. My suspicions of the tragic character arc here led me to believe this would be an emphasized flaw here anyway, even before your words.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this when you get around to reading it. It's more of my summer movie stuff, so there won't be many surprises in style or tone.

Hey, quality pulp fantasy action-adventure is what we come to you for, my friend. I say, bring on this final story!

5773032

"Can I name the OCs in it? No."

Only to be expected! I recap them, as well as the Mane 6's deviation from canon,* in the first few chapters, so that a re-read isn't necessary, only a vague familiarity to avoid total confusion.
----------
* In an organic way, I hope. I hate, "As you know, Bob," as much as anybody.

I was trying to think of how to put this, but actually I'm just going to steal 5773012's wording: Oh, heck yes.

I seriously hope this is not an early April's Fools joke :pinkiecrazy:
I was craving continuation, because this is one of my favorite AU's out there :raritystarry:

5773048
I honestly considered releasing this on April first, but thought that would be a bit too mean. (Plus, I really couldn't wait!) The story is almost complete in first draft form, and editing continues apace!

I didn’t think I’d see these stories again! Good to see you my friend!

5773066
Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy the new one.

Oh wow, you... brought back all your stuff to here...?

~Skeeter The Lurker

5773072
I did! (Or almost all.)

5773078

Time for a goddamn reread!

...I also need to buy the rest of the physical copies but uh... I don't need to explain to you why.

~Skeeter The Lurker

One question:

And not wanting to spoil anything for anyone, I'll use the spoiler feature. Does Grogar still feature in this story, or has he been written out in the years between the composition of The Skyla Pseudonym and now? 'Cause I'd really like to see what you would do with him as a character...

Mike

Awesome
Look I'm well aware that writer can't live just from pony fanfics, but I appreciate it all the same :-)

Well, this certainly is a surprise! It might be some time before I can read this, since I still need to read The Skyla Pseudonym. Storm King and Storm Empire stuff though! Means I need to get back to work myself and one day release Magisight 2! I might actually be able to get back to writing myself soon again, now that IRL is calming down.

It's great to see this!

5773112
Well, this takes place before The Skyla Pseudonym, but it will be a while before it finishes (at some 20+ chapters!).

Writing is just a whole lot of fun, and I hope you do get back to it!

Oh holy crap, yes! Another book to add to my shelf soon!

Oh Helllllll yes! Time for some rereading!

I've been looking for an excuse to get back into reading horse words so I can take a break from writing house words, and this is the perfect fulfillment of that. Looking forward to it!!
