I'm just going to quote the blog.
Hey guys, I’ll try and keep this brief.
At the end of last month, I suffered a fall at my job and broke my left arm. It wasn’t bad-- the cracks didn’t extend to my shoulder or elbow, and it’s healing nicely. But I’ve been out of work for a few weeks, so I won’t be able to go back until partway through January, and I’m running through what little I’ve saved.
It’s not all bad-- I’ve talked to my church about getting some assistance, my Landlady is a pretty forgiving person, and if I’m desperate I can talk to my family. I also have a paypal.me link if you have any extra money you can spare. In total, my rent, car payment, and insurance come to eight hundred and forty dollars. Obviously, I don’t expect to get that much money from the internet, but anything donated would be greatly appreciated.
So to explain a little more:
* Kai basically tripped and got their arm caught between Rock and Hard Place. Momentum did the rest. The swelling is now far down enough that the cast is loose, so healing is coming along. But it's gonna be a while yet.
* There is an application in for workman's comp. (Workperson?) But the status is 'processing' and even if/when it goes through, I've been told that it's not going to give more than roughly 40% of the salary. Which, as this is a food job, ain't gonna be much. (It's a major pizza chain, and that's all you need to know for how little they pay to start with.)
* Kai has contributed to other people in need before. I would be in a position to know.
* If anyone knows how to install a progress bar on PayPal.me, please sing out. It helps to see how things are coming along. (I know it's possible. I've seen one before this.)
As always: act at your own discretion, of your own will. I don't control what anyone does, and I'm not telling people what they should or shouldn't do. Someone tells me what's going on, and I ring the bell.
Between this sort of thing and the -- other kind of crisis intervention, that bell's got a rep.
