I spent too much time looking for that clip of Invader Zim saying "My business is done!" and couldn't find one of only him saying that, but you get the picture.
Anyway...
MY BUSINESS IS DONE!!
That's right! My Big Fat Pink Wedding is finally completed in all its 15-chapter glory and it's been one heck of a journey! I haven't taken this long to finish a story in FHS and aside from "Age of the Alicorns: Chaos Rising", it's the longest MLP fanfic I've written. Like I've said before, it wasn't supposed to be quite that long or complicated.
As I went through how certain things need to make logical sense (how Chrysalis would look smarter having all former wielders of the Elements be kidnapped, how she'd have to keep them from getting to them, how she'd have to avoid getting defeated by Shining Armor and Cadance's love spell, etc...) it grew bigger than I was planning, but it turned out very good. The time between the first wedding and Chrysalis's defeat was originally going to just take a few hours similar to what we saw in "Canterlot Wedding" in the official show, but I needed to go beyond. Chrysalis has learned from her former encounters with the ponies and didn't mess around this time, but of course they still outsmarted her with Elytra's transformation. I didn't want this to be too similar to Canterlot Wedding or To Where and Back Again, but I did still combine a few little elements from both episodes in a way that would make sense. I've had Elytra in my head as a character since I believe late 2019 and the beginning of the idea for the plot of this story was probably conceived around then too. Something big with Chrysalis returning and using Pinkie and Cheese's wedding to invade was too good of an idea to pass up. I'm sure I'm not the first to write a story with such a concept, so I am honored to be part of the club! If the show were to have continued after S9, I think it's a great idea to bring Chrysalis back and to put Elytra to good use. The idea of her came from envisioning another black changeling that wants to transform with the others, and her ability to transform is what saves the day. The moment that happens was radically different in my head, but the official version made more sense anyway and worked out wonderfully. And the way Chrysalis is defeated by the Elements who come in right after she has a battle with everyone else was what I had planned all along. It is kinda hard to write scenes with the Elements being used since they are a bit of a deus ex machina, but the way I see it: if you're going to put them in, give them some buildup and don't make them work if there is another way to stop the villain or reform them. Here they couldn't get to them for a while and everyone else fought Chrysalis until it became apparent no one can stop her, so that's when the Elements come in. They didn't work with Tirek or Cozy because the power of Harmony did not intend for them to be used and there were ways to reform them, but Chrysalis definitely needed to be taken down a notch. Well now she's in a prison she hates and gets what she deserves. It's not over for Chrysalis just yet. I have a story coming up for her that will take things in a very interesting direction.
Well I for one am super bittersweet about the ending! I'm so happy for Pinkie and Cheese and they're going to have a wonderful life together! How Did I Get So Lucky turned out amazing and it's the best musical composition I've ever done! My song-writing is getting better and I can't wait to try more (I've already started a redo of You'll Never Be Alone). There is no song in the next episode, but there will have to obviously be one in "Sound and Flurry" for the sake of the title and because it revolves around Flurry joining a singing class and being friends with Allegra, whose special talent is singing. Now that song is till incomplete since it has no singing, but if you are anyone you know are good at singing and would like to try doing a voice-over version, let me know!
Now I'm sure you're wondering about the next story, "The Ghost of Grogar". Well I think I'm going to take a bit of a break from FHS for a month or so to get ready for the holidays and get some commissions done. I also have to get some things lined up with my current job and possibly finding another one. The next story I'll be writing will be for MLSiaD, the "Ester Dracos Arc". Nightwatch and Buttercream will be traveling to the land of Ester Dracos lead by Emperor Antirrhinum and will befriend a family of lovable eastern dragons and even the creator of the Super Dragon Warriors video game franchise!
As for GoG, that's coming up too, and in fact, I have already started drafting the first chapter the other night because I couldn't resist. Believe me, that story is going to be insane and very worthy of a season premier which is all the more reason to make it start Season 2. The "Apparition" will make his return since the first episode, and he has plans. Flurry and her friends will be put to the test, and this is just the beginning. Get ready, folks. He is coming. In fact, he has already been here this entire time...
Oh boy. Season 1 was crazy, so I can only imagine what you have in store for Season 2.
