C&C Chapter 36 update · 9:32pm May 17th, 2023
Sorry for the dearth of blog entries of late, and for my online friends, sorry to be scarce. The reason is that I remain rather moody right now, perhaps due to a higher-than-normal testosterone dose that seems to have thrown me for a bit of a loop. I asked for it as an experiment, but maybe it’s just too much of a good thing. Also not helping is continuing difficulties at work, though I’m pleased to report that the release I’ve been working on for well over a month was finally performed successfully.
Another work-related issue is that I’ve had no time off since the year began. I’m overdue for a vacation, so I’ve officially made reservations for ten days in Vegas as I do most summers, starting the day after Memorial Day. Time to try my hand at the World Series of Poker again, and enjoy the adult playground that is Vegas and the surrounding desert. I go as much for the latter as the former, enjoying the chance to get out and explore cliffs, canyons, and wind-sculpted sandstone. What will I do this time after all the fun I had last time? I don’t know. Whatever strikes my fancy.
In any event, just wanted to let folks know that the latest C&C chapter is at 14k words and climbing, with a surprising twist occurring just today. It’s another instance of reaching a certain place, only to find that the story says to go in a different direction than I originally intended. In this instance, it’s because of the way certain characters would likely react to certain events. I will attempt to have it finished and published before I leave on vacation, but there are no guarantees. Complicating matters will be that this requires both M-rated and T-rated versions again, which means additional work.
Anyway, just wanted to let folks know what’s up, and apologize for being antisocial. I guess I’m just taking after Gilda there, needing some serious me time right now. She goes to Lake Languid to get away from all the dweebiness in her everyday life. But I go to Las Vegas. Sadly, I don’t think there are any hidden Changeling hives present there.
yay vegas
No worries, Sensei. Patches in Equestria has been keeping me company on Discord with discussions about a game that makes Fallout Equestria look like Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I don't think I could ever play it for a number of reasons but the lore is quite fascinating and it's fun to think of Roseluck as a follower of Sylvian.
Look forward to reading your next chapter!
just think of yourself first and relax
I'm sure people will understand :-)
personally I'm from europe and not really Vegas guy, but I'm Theme park and Rollercoaster enthusiast and I would also love to visit national parks in US
Vegas... playing there is expensive I hear, but probably a experience someone should make at least once.
If you find a Changeling Hive there, enjoy the locals
There are Fimfiction stories here or there where Vegas leave humans stranded in Equestria, if that happens enjoy Lunas nightsky
Don't overwork yourself, we can wait as long we get one update eventually.
Be it just once this year.
The sizes are very impressive after all.

Well, at least in going to Las Vegas I’m heading somewhere associated with the Fallout verse! And better yet, survived its apocalypse intact.
You’ve got the next chapter now! Look forward to seeing your feedback on it.

Not always possible. Family and work obligations need to be met, and I do feel obliged to keep up content creation for my readers, too. For the most part, the latter is a good thing that motivates me and keeps going, but not always. There have been times the last couple chapters that has not been the case, so I’ll be taking a break from the story soon.
Oh, we’ve got plenty of those. There are even a couple in Vegas. Rollercoasters aren’t really my thing anymore, if they ever were. I’m not interested in thrill stuff like that unless I get to be in control of it, like driving an ATV in the desert or firing a gun at a shooting range. Both of which I can do there.
I remember meeting a European on one of my earlier trips and asking him why he came to Vegas instead of going to Monte Carlo in Europe. He gave a two word answer: “it’s cheaper”. Think about that--it costs less for him to come a third of the way around the world and endure at least eight hours of jetlag than it is to go to Europe’s version of Vegas.

If you haven’t been there before, the place is best described as otherworldly. Not just for all the casinos and everything else, though that certainly factors in, but for its surroundings. It’s smack in the middle of a desert and looks the part, surrounded by stark mountains with some absolutely stunning geology within driving range. Which makes it even more attractive to me given how much I love the desert, exploring cliffs, canyons, and trails that pass through areas of wind-sculpted sandstone you can climb and scamper on.
If I do, I might not come back! Vegas does allow for instant marriage, after all...
I can do that out in the desert well away from light pollution. Spectacular night skies. Luna would approve of them!
Appreciate it. You’ll get an update this weekend or sooner, but after that, I’ll need to step away from the story for a bit. You’ll see in my next blog.
