    Quickdraw Blog. BANG!

Heya folks! This will be a quick blog, more rapid update outta necessity than witty commentary, so i'll cut straight to the chase. I've got good and bad news. The good, in my opinion, outweight the bad! But you be the judge:

It Cuts Like a Knife; It Might Leave You Bleeding

Story reviews are interesting because, sure, you can use them to know if a certain book will be the right one for you? But I feel they’re more useful when the review is in itself a tool to talk about storytelling in general. You review a book, but the book is a jumping-off point to discuss what it means to have good pacing; stuff like that.

A Full Year of Only Mondays

Good morning. This is, from my point of view, a comedy blog. From the point of view of my family and loved ones, it's a horror story.

I'm so fucking back, baby. Hi, all. Did you miss me? I know I did.

Nose to the Grinder, Hell Yeah · 8:00pm Apr 26th, 2023

Ahahaha. It's been so long, isn't it?

Yeah sorry for the lack of posts or updates, folks -- been really busy! Remember how I was training to become a judge? Yeah, that's still going on. I gotta pass three exams, and I passed the first one in February! Woo!

So I'm currently studying literally 12+ hours a day, cause the second exam is in two weeks. Less wooo.

Anyway! Yes that's why I've been so completely silent; it's been hard, and it's being hard, but it's going well. Full disclosure: I got pretty damn bad luck when it comes to the exam dates, and so I barely had time to study (plus, you know, my grandmother passing away in the middle of it kind of took the wind off my sails for a while) so it is entirely absolutely possible I might fail this one.

That's not as big a deal as it sounds? Mostly because it'll mean a break of a month, then next year I'll get it for sure. What with everything that's happened these last two months, I'm giving it my best? But I won't exactly be broken if I fail, y'know what I'm saying. Gotta be REALISTIC about these things.

Either way! That's why the next big blogs on narrative or whatever will take a bit (it's already half written!) and why the next comic will also take a bit (it's in my head! Haven't even had time to start it! I'm slowly going crazy because I get ansty when I'm not working on something creative!) but like, they'll eventually come, so wait for that.

I'll probably also blog about the exam once it's done? Because it is so weird, and so bullshit, that there is NO WAY that it won't make for a good story. So wait for that, too! If you're curious in the meantime though, I'm not SUPER online due to the studying but you can catch me in my discord server most days. It's pretty active too, so that owns.

Toodles!

Oh yeah like, I posted that comic on Twitter, and I already said this, but it bears repeating -- that's an actual fucking decorative sign I saw in some stores in America. Hilariously horrible, it gets worse the more you think about it. Starlight would SUPER buy it.

Glad you passed your first exam and I wish you the best in the others.

I would post a joke but, I'm honestly out of funny at present, so I ask those reading this to please pretend I made a good joke.

Didn't you already make a blog post about how the judge selection process is weird and bull!@#$ in a very specific way that makes you good at it?

I would actually love to know more about that exam.

weird bullshit makes for good stories imo, im looking forward to it. all the best for the exam!

(darnit, where's the blog post upvote button!)

Te deseo mucha suerte con el examen, Aragón. ¡Dale duro, que tú puedes! 💪
Por cierto, muy cachondo el cómic, como siempre. 😄

Make that study. Get that bread.:rainbowdetermined2:

Congrats on passing the first test!

And yes... I've seen that sign in many stores here in the US, and there are many more that are worse!

On last panel Twilight is just super jealous
Best wishes with the exam, you got it! In this year or next one, you'll get there for sure.

So, the lessons previously referred to drugs by their street names?

I'm guessing that they changed the lessons to refer to them by their legal/scientific names to avoid any potential confusion when street lingo inevitably changes over time.

You used to have to say the proper name followed by their street name -- "MDEA, also known as EVA; Lisergic acid, also known as LSD" -- but now you just say the boring name. Heartbreaking.

I did! But that was about the studying. Actually experiencing the exam is a new experience entirely. it sucks ten times more, it's amazing.

Awesome sauce! You got this I'm sure!

As for the comic, I've seen that sign before here in the US but never thought of it as being particularly bad. It's just more like close friends you can hang out and have a drink with can be good for your mental health. Maybe it's the use of the word "girlfriend" there. At least in the US it's pretty common for women to refer to their female friends as "girlfriends" with no romantic implications. Tho maybe it's not so common today as it was a decade or two ago.

*frown*

The third picture is broken.

:heart::rainbowlaugh::heart:

Good luck on the next exam! Looking forward to hearing about it.

Break a leg! And poor Twilight, you can see the disappointment and worry that this is her student and there's nothing she can do to change it.
