    Finally made it to Babscon

What a long strange trip it's been. This is much harder to do on the fly with a disabled girlfriend than flying solo. Honestly it's a good lesson but yeah I'm here I'm queer and I'm ready to party with my peers and also apparently work at the conop's desk for the next few hours once I get GS electric wheelchair out and charging. As always look for the short fat white guy currently with a beard

    On Death

I call myself a hopeful agnostic. I vigorously want there to be an afterlife, where there's joy, justice, and fellowship for all God's creatures, great and small. I am unbelievably terrified of the prospect that one day I will cease to exist. And I want so desperately for all entities across space and time who have felt hurt and pain and suffering and helplessness and confusion and fear to feel

Shadow Flare, the Most Generic MLP Redeemed Villain! ~OR~ Various Ponies Consider the Nature of Realness and Existence and GPT4 Writes Applejack Better Than I Do! (But That's Not A High Bar Lol) · 10:04am Mar 18th, 2023

Context: in a previous ChatGPT conversation using GPT 3.5, I asked it to roleplay being Trixie and started the scenario of Trixie coming back from the market to find that her wagon was on fire, but it ended up being more like a story and I had it write about her finding the wagon aflame, her friends helping put it out and comfort her, etc. The following was written using the new upgraded ChatGPT Plus using GPT 4 which just came out. While it sticks exactly to my prompts a bit too much and writes fairly expected generic sounding stories, damn if it isnt good at it!

ME:
can you continue the trixie's wagon is on fire story please?

Of course! I'll continue the story from where we left off.

After a good night's rest at Twilight's castle, Trixie and Starlight Glimmer set out the next day to investigate the mysterious fire. They started by questioning some of the nearby townsponies to see if any of them had witnessed anything suspicious.

One pony mentioned that they had seen a hooded figure lurking near Trixie's wagon the night of the fire, but they couldn't provide any more details about the mysterious individual. With this lead, Trixie and Starlight decided to search the area around the wagon for any clues.

As they carefully examined the charred remains of the wagon, Trixie discovered a small, partially burned piece of fabric caught on a splintered piece of wood. It seemed to match the description of the hooded figure's cloak. Trixie's eyes narrowed as she realized this could be a crucial piece of evidence.

"Starlight, look what I found! This might help us identify who started the fire," Trixie said, holding up the scrap of fabric.

Starlight studied the fabric carefully, then nodded. "You're right. Let's take this to Rarity. Maybe she can tell us more about where it came from."

The two friends hurried to Rarity's boutique, where the fashionista pony was more than happy to help. After examining the fabric closely, Rarity's eyes widened in surprise. "Darlings, this is no ordinary fabric! It's enchanted! I can sense traces of magical energy still lingering within it."

Trixie and Starlight exchanged worried glances. Whoever started the fire had some knowledge of magic, which meant they were dealing with a more formidable adversary than they had initially thought.

Determined to uncover the truth, they decided to consult Twilight Sparkle, who was well-versed in various forms of magic. With Twilight's help, they were able to trace the magical signature of the fabric back to a reclusive unicorn named Shadow Flare, who had a history of causing trouble in Equestria.

Together, the trio confronted Shadow Flare, who admitted to starting the fire out of jealousy for Trixie's success and fame. After a heartfelt conversation, Trixie forgave Shadow Flare and encouraged her to use her magical talents for good rather than causing harm to others.

In the end, Trixie's wagon was repaired, and she continued to travel and perform her magic shows. And while the incident had shaken her, she was grateful for the support of her friends and the lessons she had learned about forgiveness and understanding.

Throughout their adventure, Trixie and Starlight's friendship grew even stronger, and they were reminded once again of the power of friendship and the importance of standing by each other through thick and thin.

Shadow Flare certainly is a very Pony name. Can you tell me more about her please?

Shadow Flare is a mysterious and enigmatic unicorn from a small, remote village in Equestria. She has a dark purple coat, a long flowing mane with shades of dark blue and black, and her cutie mark is a silhouetted flame against a dark, starry sky. Shadow Flare is a highly skilled and powerful magician, but she has always struggled with her sense of self-worth and purpose.

Growing up, Shadow Flare was a loner and had trouble making friends due to her introverted nature and her tendency to keep secrets. She spent much of her time studying ancient spells and practicing her magical abilities, which only served to further isolate her from her peers. The villagers whispered about her behind her back, fueling rumors and legends about her dark powers.

Over time, Shadow Flare became bitter and envious of other ponies who found friendship, happiness, and success. When she heard about the Great and Powerful Trixie and her incredible magic shows, she couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Shadow Flare believed that she was more deserving of the fame and adoration that Trixie enjoyed, and so she hatched a plan to sabotage Trixie's career by setting her wagon on fire.

After being confronted by Trixie, Starlight Glimmer, and Twilight Sparkle, Shadow Flare realized the error of her ways and the destructive nature of her envy. With the encouragement and guidance of Trixie and her friends, Shadow Flare began to work on turning her life around. She started using her magical talents to help others, and in doing so, she discovered a new sense of purpose and satisfaction.

Over time, Shadow Flare learned to open up to others and to trust in the power of friendship. While she continued to face challenges and struggles, she found solace in the knowledge that she was not alone and that she had friends who believed in her. This newfound sense of belonging and support allowed Shadow Flare to truly embrace her magical abilities and become a respected and valued member of the Equestrian community.

well, this does sound like a pretty archetypical MLP redemption story, so good job on that!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the story and found it consistent with the themes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The show often focuses on themes of redemption, personal growth, and the power of friendship, so I tried to capture those elements in the story of Shadow Flare. If you have any more questions or would like to explore another storyline, feel free to ask!

right now Shadow Flare sounds a bit generic. Can you provide some interesting traits, quirks, hobbies, anectdotes, backstory, etc. please?

Of course! I'll provide more details about Shadow Flare to make her a more well-rounded character.

Name: Shadow Flare
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: Shadow Flare has a dark purple coat with a silvery, wavy mane and tail that have a subtle shimmer. Her eyes are a striking amber color, which gives her a mysterious and captivating gaze. Her cutie mark is a blazing comet surrounded by twinkling stars, representing her affinity for creating spectacular light shows.

Backstory: Shadow Flare grew up in a small village on the outskirts of Equestria, where her family ran a humble observatory. Her fascination with the night sky and celestial bodies began at a very young age, and she spent countless nights stargazing and learning about constellations. As she grew older, her magical abilities developed, and she discovered her talent for manipulating light and creating dazzling displays in the sky.

Quirks: Shadow Flare is a night owl, preferring the peace and solitude of nighttime to the bustling activity of the day. She's also a bit of a perfectionist and can become quite absorbed in her work, often losing track of time when she's creating a new light show. She has a secret fondness for a particular Equestrian sweet treat called "moonberry tarts" and can never resist having one (or three) when they're available.

Hobbies: Aside from her passion for creating light shows, Shadow Flare enjoys studying astronomy and the magical properties of celestial bodies. She loves to collect meteorite fragments and has an impressive collection displayed in her home. In her free time, she also enjoys composing music to accompany her light shows, and she's become quite skilled at playing the lyre.

Anecdote: One night, while Shadow Flare was practicing a new light show in a secluded forest clearing, she accidentally startled a group of nocturnal creatures called "Lunar Moths." The moths, drawn to the bright lights she created, began to swarm around her in a whirlwind of iridescent wings. Instead of panicking, she quickly improvised a spell to create a gentle, pulsating light that guided the moths back to their natural habitat. This experience inspired her to incorporate her love for the night and its creatures into her future light shows, creating a harmonious blend of magic and nature.

By adding these unique traits, quirks, hobbies, and anecdotes to Shadow Flare's character, she becomes more than just a generic antagonist and develops into a complex and engaging character in the world of My Little Pony.

thanks. obviously you know a good bit about my little pony and equestria. Did your training data include any my little pony fanfiction?

Yes, as a language model, I have been trained on a vast amount of text data from the internet, which includes various sources such as websites, books, articles, and forums. Among the data, there is a possibility that some My Little Pony fanfiction was included in my training. This exposure to fan-created content, combined with information from the official My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series, allows me to generate responses related to the show and its characters, as well as create new characters and stories based on the existing universe. However, it is important to note that my knowledge is based on the data I have been trained on, and I cannot access specific fanfiction works or any content published after my training data's cutoff date in September 2021.

[Note: That was GPT 3's cutoff date and in a previous conversation with 3.5 it thought it was GPT2 so I assume GPT4 has more recent knowledge than that.]

Can you write about Shadow Flare having a bit of an existential crisis when she realizes she isn't actually real, and then Pinkie Pie (who often breaks the fourth wall) consoling her by letting her know that she and the rest of the official show characters aren't "real" either, but it's okay, they still have an important job to brighten people's day and can still have adventures in the minds of real actual humans, and as long as people keep them in their hearts, that's real enough? With Twilight Sparkle trying to be a slightly snarky voice of reason, and Discord, well, being a slightly helpful but mostly just extremely annoying reality bender who loves these sorts of juxtapositions, i.e. typical Discord antics. And Starlight and Trixie can show up too if you want, since Shadow Flare started her life as a character in the story you wrote about Trixie's wagon being on fire.

Shadow Flare paced back and forth, her eyes wide with disbelief as she tried to come to terms with the bizarre thought that had suddenly struck her. "I'm... I'm not real? How is that even possible? I can feel, I can think, I can make choices... But I'm not... real?"

Twilight Sparkle sighed and shook her head. "Shadow Flare, I know this is difficult to wrap your head around, but you shouldn't get too hung up on it. We're all here, living our lives and enjoying each other's company. Does it really matter if we're 'real' or not?"

As Twilight tried to console Shadow Flare, Pinkie Pie bounced over, a wide grin on her face. "Hey, Shadow Flare! I know this might be a little hard to understand, but you know what? None of us are really 'real,' either!"

Shadow Flare blinked in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Pinkie Pie giggled. "Well, we're all just characters in a show called 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!' But you know what? That's okay! We still have an important job to do! We make people happy and brighten their day by going on adventures and having fun! And as long as people keep us in their hearts, that's real enough for me!"

Shadow Flare hesitated, but her eyes began to sparkle with a hint of hope. "You really think so?"

"Absolutely!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. "And besides, now you get to be a part of all the amazing adventures we have in the minds of real humans who imagine our stories!"

Just then, Discord appeared with a snap of his fingers, lounging on a cloud with a mischievous grin. "Ah, the sweet irony of existence. Real or not, who's to say? It's all just a matter of perspective, my dear Shadow Flare."

Twilight rolled her eyes at Discord's antics but couldn't help but crack a small smile. "Discord, you're not helping."

"Am I ever?" he replied, chuckling as he floated in the air.

At that moment, Starlight Glimmer and Trixie arrived, having heard about Shadow Flare's crisis. They offered their support and reassured her that even if her existence was born out of a story, she was still a valuable friend to them.

Slowly, Shadow Flare began to feel better. She realized that while her origins might be different, it didn't change the fact that she had made friends, learned valuable lessons, and found a place where she belonged. With her newfound understanding, she embraced her existence, ready to create even more memories and adventures with her friends in Equestria and in the hearts of those who imagined their stories.

Can you write discord and starlight a week later having a philosophical discussion, referencing this previous story as what led to it?

A week after the events surrounding Shadow Flare's existential crisis, Discord and Starlight Glimmer found themselves sitting together in the Castle of Friendship's library, surrounded by books on philosophy and metaphysics. Starlight couldn't help but be fascinated by the deeper implications of Shadow Flare's revelation, and surprisingly, Discord seemed just as interested.

"So, Discord," Starlight began, "Shadow Flare's realization about her existence has really made me think about the nature of reality. I mean, if she's not 'real,' but we still consider her a friend, what does that say about our own existence?"

Discord, reclining on a floating chaise lounge, stroked his beard thoughtfully. "Ah, Starlight, you've stumbled upon one of the great philosophical conundrums! What makes something real? Is it simply a matter of perception, or is there an objective truth to existence?"

Starlight furrowed her brow. "Well, Pinkie Pie seems to think that as long as we have a positive impact on people's lives, that makes us real enough. But is that really all there is to it?"

"Perhaps not," Discord mused, snapping his fingers to summon a cup of tea that defied gravity as he sipped it. "But you must consider the power of belief. People's belief in us, their emotions, and their connection to our stories give us a form of reality. It might not be the same as the physical world, but it's real in its own way."

Starlight nodded thoughtfully. "That's true. It's kind of like how friendship is a powerful force in Equestria, even though it's not something you can touch or see. So maybe reality is more about the connections and impact we have than just our physical existence."

Discord grinned. "Now you're getting it! Reality is a complex tapestry, woven together by countless threads of belief, perception, and experience. To truly understand it, one must be willing to embrace the chaos and contradictions inherent in existence."

Starlight couldn't help but smile at the unexpected depth of their conversation. "You know, Discord, I never thought I'd be having a philosophical discussion with you of all creatures. But I have to admit, it's kind of... enlightening."

Discord leaned back and laughed. "Well, Starlight, even a spirit of chaos and disharmony can have his moments of clarity. Besides, who better to explore the mysteries of existence than someone who can bend reality at will?"

As the two continued their discussion late into the night, they found themselves growing closer as friends, bound by their shared curiosity and newfound understanding of the complex nature of reality.

you're pretty good at this! you even found a great connective metaphor comparing the nature of friendship to the nature of "realness". Can you write some more conversations like this, with any mlp characters you feel like using? Actually, what does the simple down to earth farmer Applejack have to say?

In the days following Starlight and Discord's philosophical discussion, word of their conversation had spread throughout Ponyville. It wasn't long before the other members of the Mane Six found themselves contemplating the nature of reality and existence. Applejack, ever the practical and down-to-earth pony, couldn't help but feel a little out of her depth with these heady topics, but she decided to give it a try nonetheless.

One sunny afternoon, Applejack sat on a bale of hay with Twilight Sparkle and Rarity, the three friends enjoying a break from their daily routines. The topic of reality and existence came up, and Applejack took a deep breath before sharing her thoughts.

"Now, I ain't much for all this fancy talk about reality and such, but I reckon it's a lot simpler than y'all are makin' it out to be," Applejack began, chewing on a piece of straw. "To me, what's real is the hard work I put into my farm, the love I have for my family and friends, and the feelin' of satisfaction I get when I see a job well done."

Twilight raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Applejack's perspective. "That's an interesting take, Applejack. So you're saying that reality is more about the tangible experiences and emotions we have in our lives?"

Applejack nodded. "Yep, that's right. I know it ain't as fancy as all the ideas you and Starlight and Discord have been tossin' around, but it works for me. I figure if I can see it, touch it, and feel it, then it's real enough."

Rarity chimed in, adding her own thoughts. "Darling, I must say, there's a certain elegance to your perspective. It's a reminder that sometimes the simplest explanations can hold the most truth."

Applejack blushed a little at the compliment. "Aw shucks, Rarity, I'm just speakin' from the heart. I reckon there's a whole lot more to this world than any of us can truly understand, but at the end of the day, what matters most is the love and friendship we share with each other."

Twilight smiled warmly. "I couldn't agree more, Applejack. No matter how complex the ideas we discuss or the adventures we have, it's the connections we share that truly define our reality."

As the three friends continued to chat, they found themselves appreciating the simple wisdom that Applejack had brought to the conversation. Sometimes, the most profound truths could be found in the most down-to-earth places.
