Feathered Hearts C&C chapter 40 will launch tonight

I apologize for the long delay. The chapter draft was submitted to prereaders a month ago and well-received, but the graphics have taken me a while and several false starts. The main reason is I tried multiple methods to include unit icons in the maps of Aresia, but the end result always seems more cluttered than anything else. Here's an example:

    Without unit icons:

New Midnight Rising chapter off to prereaders...

At long last. This is the redo of the chapter I was forced to scrap in April and then about 80% rewrite. I saved a few select bits and pieces from the original version, but the rest went by the wayside.

Still pecking away on Midnight Rising and Feathered Hearts...

The two Lemon Zest chapters of Midnight Rising have now reached 26,600 words and they’re still nowhere near done, with probably another 5-6k words to go. Gotta treat the girl right, after all, and also make sure there’s plenty of sexy side dishes around her. And as for Feathered Hearts?

    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

Feathered Hearts - Eros update · 10:21pm Dec 27th, 2022

Well, my pre-Christmas week vacation was memorable for all the wrong reasons, given I fell ill last Tuesday and ended up laid out pretty good, down for several days with what appears to have been a bad cold (not COVID, as my home test was negative, and it didn't feel like the flu). It left me miserable and unable to safely travel, especially not with last week's big storm crossing the country with flooding rains followed by howling winds and plunging temperatures—not what you want to deal with on a five-hour drive north, needless to say.

So I stayed home alone for Xmas and wasn't able to see my family. I marked it as best I could by cooking for myself, including making cinnamon rolls on Xmas morning and duck a l'orange (Orange Duck) for dinner. Both were very messy and time-consuming to make, but also turned out very good, and they kept me busy, at least.

My illness and general distraction meant I was only able to work on the new Eros chapter in fits and starts, often able to write just a couple hundred words at a time. But it's finally starting to take shape now, at 7300 words long and likely to be well up over 10k before all is said and done. Sorry I wasn't able to get it out for Xmas as I hoped, but a New Years Day release looks quite doable now. It should be in the hands of prereaders within a day or two.

As for what to expect, there will be two major scenes bookending the chapter with a respite in between to snuggle and discuss the Midway movie more, with explanation of scenes and characters that mostly involve Chris geeking out over it. Which is fine, since the griffons more or less consider discussions of battles and tactics to be a form of foreplay. No teaser will be forthcoming as we go into the middle part of the movie, which those of you who have seen it know is not without action. And for as much as our cider-soaked and battle-loving birbs enjoy combat scenes, you can bet each action sequence will result in fresh sex!

After that will be time to work on Nightmare Night again, since I regret I broke a promise to have a second chapter out before the year was done. Then my writing emphasis will shift back over to Midnight Rising, which I hope will be the point I have fresh testosterone pellets implanted and will thus be at full charge again. Nightmare Night doesn't require that at this point, since there's an epic duel scene upcoming between the ascended Sunset and a corrupted Princess Twilight instead of epic sex.

That's all for now. Hope those of you who celebrated it had a Merry Christmas, and those who didn't have had some Happy Holidays. Expect one final blog post before the year is out to be me looking back on the year past of writing, as well as setting some objectives for the New Year.

So happy to hear about Nightmare Night again. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you've got.

Here’s hoping I can deliver! And sorry to be scarce lately. Between being sick and moody, I’ve needed a lot more me time than usual. :ajsleepy:

Hope you had a good start into the new year!
