Feathered Hearts C&C chapter 40 will launch tonight

I apologize for the long delay. The chapter draft was submitted to prereaders a month ago and well-received, but the graphics have taken me a while and several false starts. The main reason is I tried multiple methods to include unit icons in the maps of Aresia, but the end result always seems more cluttered than anything else. Here's an example:

    Without unit icons:

New Midnight Rising chapter off to prereaders...

At long last. This is the redo of the chapter I was forced to scrap in April and then about 80% rewrite. I saved a few select bits and pieces from the original version, but the rest went by the wayside.

Still pecking away on Midnight Rising and Feathered Hearts...

The two Lemon Zest chapters of Midnight Rising have now reached 26,600 words and they’re still nowhere near done, with probably another 5-6k words to go. Gotta treat the girl right, after all, and also make sure there’s plenty of sexy side dishes around her. And as for Feathered Hearts?

    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

Merry Early Christmas, Feathered Hearts fans... · 11:30pm Dec 11th, 2022

Because you’re going to get climactic chapter 31 of the story in just two days after today’s chapter 30. I considered holding it for Xmas, but in the end, it’s just about ready, so with chapter 30 fresh in everyone’s mind and readers (hopefully) eager to see what happens next, it’s on the way and will launch Tuesday night. I will also attempt to have the promised T-rated chapter 29 posted that night as well.

Spoilers for chapter 30 ahead, so don’t read this until you’ve read that.

As for what to expect? Well, if you know the ending of 30, then you know what’s going to happen in the first part of 31—Gilda using another lull in the battle to tell Marco what happened with Karin Kazal. I didn’t have to do it there, but I chose to because a) a guilty Gilda needed to get it off her wings and b) so did I as the author. I wanted to get it out of the way to clear the decks for the rest of the battle, which is going to be intense.

We won’t linger too long upon it, but I’ve done hard to give the revelation the treatment it deserves and make Marco’s reaction both realistic and believable along with how he (more or less) comes to terms with it.

As for the remainder of the battle, we’ve done military thrillers and we’ve done suspense, and now it’s time for a horror movie vibe as Cloven tactics change following their latest losses. I don’t generally go for horror or grimdark, but let it be known that I can write it if I need to.

I won’t spoiler what happens or how the turnabout occurs (to use the Ace Attorney phrase), except to say that it’s been planned for months at this point. And that for reasons that should become clear by the chapter’s end to readers of a certain other military series I’ve written, I am dedicating part 31 to departed Fimfiction and Gentlemanverse author Denim_Blue.

After this, I’m going to finally shift over to Eros and attempt to get a new chapter written in time for Xmas, which will be the second part of the Midway movie viewing. More updates on that later, but for now, enjoy the climax and conclusion of the initial twelve-chapter Cloven story arc. I’ve done a great deal of work on this and tried very hard to do it justice, including incorporating large swaths of text from the original story’s chapter 9.

You be the judge whether I’ve succeeded, and enjoy unwrapping your early Christmas present! 🎄

Departed? I hope hes not departed as in Covid got him?

To the best of my knowledge, no, given he had to come online to delete his account. We don’t know why and probably never will. He was a good author and friend, but he just stopped talking to all of us and then disappeared for months before killing his account. I really wish he would have at least told us what was up with him. Whatever his reasons for leaving, I would have understood and wished him well.

To you as well. And thanks for all your comments on my stories this year. They’ve always been something I’ve looked forward to.

I can't wait for people to gawk at that twist you through into part three! :rainbowlaugh: I think people are really going to love it.

Thanks for saying so, but hold that thought until the release of part 31 tonight. :coolphoto:
