A story to divert attention while I try making the third yugioh EQG story.
Burst and his friends are invited to Kaiba Corp to test out the new duel monsters video game. But something goes horribly wrong and they become trapped in the game world! And the only way out is to duel to the final boss! But what pixelated perils will they face? And who is the mysterious Noah that seems to help guide them?
Burst woke up with a smile on his face. He'd won Battle City, could generate awesome dragon wings, and his cards were happy! There was nothing that could freak him out or bring him down! Then he got a text from Sunset telling him to meet her and the others at school.
'Wonder what she needs me for? Well, better not keep a lady waiting. Might as well see if Inferno wants to tag along too. ', Burst thought to himself as he texted Inferno. He then met up with Inferno and they made their way to CHS. "So Sunset, why did you call me here?"
"I'm glad you asked!", Sunset said as a girl came OUT of the school's statue that looked exactly like Twilight!
"Pleased to meet you Burst Stream!", Equis Twilight greeted him. "My name is Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship!" Burst had seen monsters summoned from cards, and dealt with villains that aimed to take over the world through a card game. And for this situation, he did the logical thing to do. He fainted.
One revival later....
"So....Sunset. You're from a world full of ponies?"
"Yes."
"And this other Twilight is a PRINCESS in that world?"
"Uh-huh."
"And the counterparts of our principals are the rulers of that world?"
"Yep."
"......Cool."
"I'm surprised you're handling this so well Burst Stream.", Equis Twilight said. "You know, given your first reaction."
"Princess, we've had to deal with evil monsters and duelists that wanted to take over our world and the monsters'. A pony princess from another world sounds a lot more normal. Also considering that you're like our Twilight, what do you want to know about me and Blue Eyes?"
"How did you know I had questions about that?"
"Considering that Sunset told you about me, I figured you might have some."
"In that case...can you summon Blue Eyes?"
"Sure thing. Come on out Blue Eyes!" Blue Eyes White Dragon materialized in a flash of light.
"Hey everyone! Nice to see...you?", Blue Eyes stopped as he noticed the two Twilights he saw. "I don't know why there's another Twilight, but nice to meet you!"
Twilight smiled. "You too. Not very often I meet any friendly dragons back in Equestria!"
"Seriously? Most dragons are friendly in my world."
"The ones my friends and I have run into quite greedy ones. Speaking of which, you must have a huge hoard to have grown that big!"
"Hoard? What hoard? Every dragon where I'm from grows naturally. Some aren't as strong as me, but no dragon thinks any less of them. We even co-exist peacefully with the other races." Equis Twilight couldn't believe it! Dragons that weren't only not greedy, but also peaceful! And to top it off, Blue Eyes seemed even stronger than any dragon that was fully developed from greed growth!
"This is amazing! I wonder, just how strong is Blue Eyes?"
"Only one way to find out!", Pinkie said as she handed Equis Twilight a duel disk. Soon a flash of light went off in Twilight's hand, and a deck materialized.
"Well Burst, you up for a duel?"
Burst smiled. "Always! Let's duel!"
Burst: 8000 Equis Twilight: 8000
"So, do you know how to play Princess Twilight?"
"Sunset told me the rules. I'll go first if you don't mind. I summon Shield Mage in defense mode and set a card! That's it for my turn."
"My move then!". Burst then took a look at his hand. "Wow. Didn't expect this to happen. I play the spell card Harmony Absolute and discard Blue Eyes White Dragon to special summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Attack her defense mode monster! Absolute Burst Stream!" Blue Eyes Absolute roared as he fired a blast of energy that wiped out Shield Mage!
Burst: 8000 Equis Twilight: 4800
"Impressive new form! But now I activate my facedown card! Raigeki Break! I'll discard a card so I can destroy one card on the field! And I choose your dragon!" Soon a bolt of lightning struck Blue Eyes Absolute, but after the dust cleared he was still standing!
"Sorry princess, but he's called Blue Eyes Absolute for a reason. He can't be destroyed by battle or target and is immune to card effects. And if you wonder how I was able to damage you earlier, it's because he can inflict piercing damage to a defense mode monster, and he gains 300 attack for each monster in my graveyard. And those are only four of his seven abilities! I'll end my turn. I don't want to end this duel just yet." Burst soon activated his dragon power. Causing his wings to appear and his eyes turned dragonic.
"You've shown me your ace, now I'll show you mine!", Twilight said with a confident smile. "Come on out Magical Knight!" Soon a female warrior clad in violet armor materialized. Soon, Twilight "ponied up" due to her bond with her monster.
"Never seen this monster before!", Blue Eyes Absolute said.
"You like her?", Equis Twilight asked. "She's my monster partner!"
"I've always wanted to face off against one of the legendary dragons!", Magical Knight said with a small smile.
Blue Eyes smiled in kind. "Well then, show me what you've got!"
"Twilight! I could use a boost!"
"RightI activate Mage's resolve! For this turn, Magical Knight's attack points are doubled putting her at 5800! Blue Eyes won't be damaged, but at least your life points will take a hit!", Twilight said. "Go! Magic Blade Slash!" Magical Knight fired a blast of magic that struck Blue Eyes Absolute! When Twilight checked to see the status of Burst's life points, her jaw nearly dropped! They were exactly the same! "WHAT?BUT?HOW?!"
"I forgot to mention Blue Eyes Absolute's other two abilities. I take no damage from battle if you attack him. If you inflict effect damage, it increases my life points instead. And lastly, he can target and destroy one card on the field, but he can't attack that turn.Now I play Return of the Dragon Lords to revive the Blue Eyes in my graveyard! Blue Eyes Absolute, take down Magical Knight! Now Blue Eyes! Attack her directly! White Lightning!" Twilight shielded herself as the blasts of light energy hit her!
Burst: 8000, win Equis Twilight: lose
"No wonder you were able to save the world.", Equis Twilight said. "Those dragons of yours are pretty powerful!"
"Thanks princess! You're pretty good yourself!" As the group were busy catching up with Princess Twilight, a limo pulled up to CHS and Mokuba stepped out.
"Hey! Is one of you Burst Stream?", Mokuba asked.
"I am. And you must be Kaiba's little brother. So what's up?"
"My brother's invited you and some of your friends to test out Kaiba Corp.'s new video game! So what do you say?"
"I know just who I want to bring! Game on!" Burst knew Inferno was a huge gamer like him, so it was obvious he wanted to come with. So he texted Ace to see if he was interested. Ace agreed and decided to bring along Sonata. Sunset and Princess Twilight decided to tag along so they could see the new technology. They all entered the limo, and drove to Canterlot's Kaiba Corp. branch.
Burst, Inferno, Sunset, and Princess Twilight had arrived at Canterlot's Kaiba Corp Branch. Since Ace hadn't shown up yet, they decided to wait for him.
"So Inferno, Sunset, who are your monster partners?", Twilight asked
"Mine's Red Eyes Black Dragon.", Inferno said as he summoned his monster materialized.
"Nice to meet ya!", Red Eyes said with a smile while he gave a peace sign.
"BLS is my partner.", Sunset said with a smile.
"So you're Princess Twilight. A pleasure to meet y ou.", BLS said with a small bow.
"Just Twilight is fine! ", Twilight said with a slight blush. Soon Ace showed up, but he wasn't alone.
"Hey everyone! Sorry I'm late! My girlfriend wanted to tag along. You must be Twilight. Burst told me about you in a text."
"Nice to meet y..", Twilight paused as she noticed just how Ace's girlfriend was. "WHAT IS ONE OF THE SIRENS DOING HERE?! WE BEAT THEM AT THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS!" Sunset face palmed. She'd forgotten to mention Sonata in her last letter to Twilight!
"Easy Twilight! Sonata's not an enemy!", Sunset said as she tried to diffuse the situation. Somehow, this didn't make things any better.
"WHAT? That can't be! Maybe she has Ace under a spell! Don't worry, this'll be over quick!", she said as she began to pony-up. But Burst stepped in just in time.
"Twilight, please! Can't you just run some kind of analysis spell to SEE if Ace is being controlled?" Twilight blushed in embarrassment after realizing she had freaked out over the whole matter.
"Eh heh heh. Right sorry about that.", Twilight said sheepishly as she apologized to Sonata.
"Well, no harm no fowl.", Sonata said with a smile. "Besides with the last stunt my family pulled, I can't blame you for how you reacted." Soon, Kaiba entered the lobby.
"Welcome everyone. You all know why you're here, so let's get down to it." Kaiba led them to an area where virtual reality pods were hooked up. "These are the capsules that will take you into the game world. So, are you ready to take things to the next level?"
"Game on!", everyone said as they each went to a different capsule. But as the technicians got ready to start the game, something wnet wrong.
"Mr. Kaiba! Something's wrong with the program! If we start the game, we won't be able to pull them out!"
"WHAT? Stop the program! Get them out of there!" But it was too late! The program had already been executed, and Burst and his friends were taken to the game world.
"Looks like an adventure game by the looks of things.", Burst said as he checked the group's surroundings. "I guess our first move is to head into whatever town is nearby.
"What are we waiting for then? Let's move!", Inferno said. And with that, Burst and his friends headed through the forest. But they hadn't ventured too far in when a monster appeared!
"Looks like Two Headed King Rex!", Burst said as he examined their opponent. Just then, the group received a message from Kaiba.
"Can any of you hear me?"
"Loud and clear Kaiba. So what do you have to tell us?"
"Something went wrong with the program, and now you're trapped in the game. And the only way out is to beat the game!"
"So how are we supposed to fight monsters?", Sunset asked.
"With your own monsters. I'm sure you've noticed that all the enemy monsters are from duel monsters. Your decks were scanned when you entered the game. And as an added bonus, you won't have to tribute monsters to summon higher level ones. But that doesn't mean you can get reckless! You still have a set amount of life points. And if they hit zero, game over."
"Got it. Now to make this dinosaur extinct! Come on out Blue Eyes White Dragon!", Burst said as Blue Eyes materialized. "Mind helping us out buddy?"
"No problem! One white lightning coming up!", Blue Eyes said as he fired his famed attack and destroyed Two Headed King Rex! As the monster faded, items seemed to fall from the sky. "Looks like this place has a loot system too!"
"Come on everyone! Let's grab those items and keep moving!", Inferno said. The group collected the loot, and made their way through the forset, fighting beasts, insects, and bandit monsters.
"There's just no end to these guys!", Sunset groaned as another wave of enemies showed up. "We might be winning, but we can't keep this up forever!"
"Hey, I think I see something!", Ace said as he noticed a small fairy motioning for them to follow.
"New strategy! Follow that fairy!", Twilight said. All of them followed the fairy to a small town. But once they got closer, they saw that it was under attack! "We have to try and help! Let's go!" Everyone summoned their monsters, and charged straight into the battle! The town wasn't without it's own defenders, as ally monsters helped push back the attackers. The village leader was grateful for their help, and informed them of their dire situation.
"Some time ago, a group of villains calling themselves 'The Big Five' began to terrorize our kingdom. And ever since then, they've demanded excessive tribute as protection to shield us from their wrath And if the amount is not met, well, you saw what was going on earlier. They've even taken people prisoner. But there is one who had been able to fend them off."
"Who?", asked Burst.
"You must journey to the Machine City to find him. He is but one warrior, but maybe you can help him. Take this map of the land. It should be quite useful. Good luck young heroes! May the heart of the cards guide you!" And with that, Burst and his friends made their way to the Machine City. Where they would find the lone warrior who stood againt "The Big Five".
Back in the real world...
'So those slimeballs are behind this!", Kaiba growled. "They must be trying to get new bodies to enter the real world!"
Mokuba was worried. "What can we do Seto?"
"We can have faith that Burst and his friends can beat them."
"Well, we won't have to worry about getting lost with this map! Looks like we'll need to trek through a desert that's east of here.", Burst said as he examined the map of the land. "But when needs to walk while we can fly there? Three of us have dragons, and spell casters can levitate and fly too. So let's ride!" Burst and his friends summoned their flying monsters, and flew towards the Machine City.
"From what the chief said, the Machine City's inhabitants are friendly. So we shouldn't have to worry about them being hostile.", Ace said as they flew towards their destination. Soon, the city came into view. But as they got closer, Inferno noticed the faint trace of something over the city.
"Guys stop!"
"What's wrong?", Sunset asked. Inferno and Red Eyes got closer and Red Eyes tapped on something that was around the city.
"Just as I thought. There's an invisible barrier that seems to be around the whole city!"
"Great. We know what's keeping us out. But how do we get in?", Burst asked.
"Maybe we could ask at the gate?", Sonata suggested.
"What makes you say that?"
"Because it looks like there's a checkpoint just outside the city.", Sonata said as she pointed to the ground. The group landed, and went to the checkpoint where a pair of Cannon Soldiers were standing guard.
"Let me try talking to them.", Twilight said. "Hi! We were travelling here, but a force field kept us from flying in. Could you please lower it so we can enter?"
"Negative. We don't control the field, so we can't grant you access. But there is a way you can enter Machine City.", one of the Cannon Soldiers said.
"Perfect! So how do we do that?"
"There is a village not too far from here holding a fighting contest. A cyber key was put up as the prize to whoever can defeat their champion. If you win, you can use the key to enter and leave the city as you please."
"So, how do we get to the village?"
"Just look for a twister. It'll spit you out in the direction of the village."
"WHAT?! How can a twister just spin you around and spit you out where you want to go?"
"Twilight. This is a video game. It's not supposed to be realistic.", Burst reminded her. Twilight face palmed at remembering just where she was. "Now then! Time to go storm chasing!" They didn't have to wait long, as a twister was blowing by the city that moment. 'Huh. Convenient." Burst and his friends jumped into the twister, and were whisked away to the village the Cannon Soldiers had mentioned. "Inferno, you, Sunset and I should enter the tournament. The rest of you hang back in the village."
"Wait! Why do you two get to fight?!", Twilight fumed. "What makes you qualified?"
"No offense Twilight, but you don't look like you've played all that many video games. Inferno, Sunset and I have a lot more experience when it comes to gaming." Burst said as he walked up to the registration stand. "Hi! We're here to enter the contest. Are we too late?"
"You just barely made it! There's only one round left, and the last opponent ran scared from the champ! So, which of you has the guts to face the champion?"
"That'd be me."
"Perfect! Make your way to the ring and tell the announcer your name. He'll then kick-off the match." Burst did as he was instructed, and the match was on!
"In this corner, the challenger! Burst Stream! And in the other, the champion! Blade Master!", the announcer belted out! Burst's opponent was a guy wearing a helmet that looked like the Black Luster Soldier's. "Ready? FIGHT!" Blade came at him with a lightning-fast punch, but Burst dodged just in time! Burst responded with a series of quick punches! But Blade dodged them and tried to break his footing with a sweep kick. Burst jumped and pulled off a move that a spinning mid-air kick that knocked Blade to the ground and knocked off his helmet! Sunset recognized the person Burst was fighting as Steel Edge. A duelist who she fought at Battle City that had used a Black Luster Soldier deck.
"You're pretty good. But I'm the one who's going to win this!", Steel said with a smirk. He charged at Burst with a kick that had the force of a sword strike! "Blade Kick!" Fortunately, Burst managed to dodge the attack! Burst then cleared his mind, and got into a stance. Soon, energy began to gather in his hands. Steel Edge wasted no time in recovering, and made a dash at Burst!
"HADOKEN!", Burst cried as he fired a blast of energy that sent Steel Edge reeling! Not wasting a chance to end the fight, Burst charged toward him and unleashed a devastating uppercut! "SHORYUKEN!"
"And the winner is Burst Stream! Your prize is a cyber key that can be used to enter the machine city!", the announcer said as Burst was handed the cyber key. Steel Edge came up to congratulate Burst too.
"No wonder I lost. You're the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City champion."
"I try not to let that get to my head.", Burst replied with a small smile.
"Mind if I tag along? My monsters can be pretty helpful."
"Sure, why not! Next stop: Machine City!"
"Uh...Burst Stream?", Twilight asked.
"Yeah?"
"HOW CAN YOU DEFY THE LAWS OF PHYSICS?"
"Just another perk of the bond between Blue Eyes and me. It released all the energy channels in my body. That in turn lets me pull off moves thought to be only possible in video games. Other benefits are increased durability, and heightened senses. And I'm pretty sure you saw my wings during our duel. Oh! I almost forgot to mention Inferno can do the same things I can. Twilight?"
"Uh, Burst? I think ya broke her.", Inferno said as he noticed how hard Twilight was trying to comprehend what she just heard.
"Blue Eyes. Could you please carry her? I think she'll be better once she snaps out of it."
"No problem.", Blue Eyes said as he hoisted Twilight onto his back. The group then went back to the Machine City. Where they would meet the lone duelist who stood against the Big 5.
When the group arrived back at the machine city, Twilight had recovered from trying to find a logical explanation to Burst and Inferno's abilities. As they arrived at the gate, Burst showed the guards the key he had won when he beat Steel Edge back at
"You are now cleared to enter. Welcome to Machine City!"
"Thanks!", Burst said as he and his friends entered the city. They couldn't help but gaze in awe of just how advanced the city was! Everywhere they looked, there were living machines! "Now the only question is where do we find the duelist who's resisting the Big 5."
"Let's ask around. There's bound to be someone who knows them.", Sunset suggested.
"Good idea! We'll split up, and meet back here in about half an hour." They all went their separate ways. Hoping to find some clue as to where this duelist was. But when they regrouped, none of them had found any information at all.
"Man! I can't believe we didn't get a single lead on this guy!", Inferno fumed.
"Maybe he doesn't want to be found?", Ace suggested. "If the Big 5 were as bad as that village chief suggested, maybe he's trying to keep his identity a secret." As they were trading theories, Twilight noticed that the machines were starting to bow in the presence of a lone figure.
"Hey guys! Maybe we should check out what's going on over there?"
"Anything's worth a shot at this rate.", Burst said. When they went to see what was going on, they saw a green-haired boy at the center of it all. Burst decided to question him and see if he knew about the duelist they were looking for. "Excuse me."
"Hm? Is there something I can help you with?", the boy asked.
"My friends and I were looking for the duelist who's opposing the Big 5. Do you know him?"
"You're looking at him. My name is Noa. And judging by the looks of you, you must be the players who got stuck here."
"Well, Noa. Maybe you can tell us how we got stuck in the first place."
"I guess you could say this is partially my fault. During the first Battle City, I captured Kaiba and the other duelists and sent them to cyberspace. The Big 5 joined with me in order to take control of Kaiba Corp. But during my time with Mokuba, I realized how foolish my actions were and helped them to escape. The facility we were in was destroyed, but my mind was transferred to a back-up drive. When they began to develop this game, I uploaded myself here. But I wasn't alone. The Big 5 took this chance to escape and followed me here. To escape back into the real world, they rewrote the program to trap any players who entered the game. And should the player fall against them, one of the Big 5 gets their body. The only way out is for you to defeat all five of them AND the final boss. But first, I'll test the best duelist out of you. That way I can see whether or not you'll really need my help."
"Guess I'm up then. Let's duel!"
Burst: 8000 Noa: 8000
"I've got the first move!", Burst said. "I'll reveal one Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon! Next I summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue and end my turn."
"Since you control a monster and I don't, I special summon Cyber Dragon! And since you special summoned a monster I special summon Cyber Dinosaur! Neither of them can take down your dragon, but your Maiden is an open target! Go, Evolution Burst!", Noa cried as Cyber Dragon prepared to fire it's laser at Maiden!
"Not so fast! I use her effect to negate your attack and special summon a Blue Eyes White Dragon from my deck! Now I'll overlay the two of them to xyz summon Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon! Attack Cyber Dinosaur!" Hope Harbinger roared as he fired a blast of energy that melted Cyber Dinosaur into scrap! "I end my turn."
"Time to take this to the next level! I summon Cyber Dragon Drei! When he's on the field I can make all of my cyber dragons level five! Now I'll overlay my monsters to xyz summon Cyber Dragon Nova! Now I'll use him as xyz material to summon Cyber Dragon Infinity! He gains 200 attack for each xyz material attached to him, bringing him to 2700! Now I'll use his other effect! I'll attack Maiden with Eyes of Blue! I know how her effect works, but I'll detach an overlay unit so that I can negate the effect and destroy her!"
"Sorry, but Hope Harbinger has other plans! If an effect is activated on the field, I can negate the activation and attach that card as an overlay unit!"
"No! My Cyber Dragon!", Noa cried as Infinity was transformed into an overlay unit and attached to Hope Harbinger.
"Now I'll summon Keeper of the Shrine and banish him to special summon Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon! Now I'll use his effect to special summon Blue Eyes White Dragon from my hand! All of my monsters attack you directly, and that's game!"
Burst: 8000, win Noa: lose
"A good duel Burst Stream. But just because you defeated me, don't think that the Big 5 are pushovers. You and your friends must be on your guard. There is a warp terminal that leads to each of the Big 5's stages. Good luck to all of you!"
"Thanks Noa! Come on everyone! Let's go!" And with that Burst and his friends went off to confront the Big 5!
"Okay everybody! Each of us is using a different warp to face off against one of the Big 5! I'll use the first warp. Sunset, you take the second warp and Inferno will take the third. Ace and Sonata, you head to the fourth warp. Steel, you've got the last warp. Let's show the Big 5 who's boss!"
"RIGHT!", they all said as they headed to their respective warps. Soon, each warp activated and sent them to their destinations! When Burst arrived, he made sure to take careful notice of his surroundings.
'Looks like I'm in a swamp. Better be careful. Who knows what's lurking in the water.', Burst thought to himself. As he ventured through the swamp, Burst noticed a clear lake in the middle of it all. 'Something tells me that's the boss arena where one of the Big 5 is waiting for me. Time to see what these guys are made of!' And with that Burst made his way to the boss arena. When he arrived, a figure began to rise from the water.
"So the one to fall has come to face me. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Gansley of the Big 5! But the form you see me in is the Deep Sea Warrior!"
"Big talk from an old pile of pixels. You couldn't duel to save your life! Especially since the card game's changed so much!"
"Once I defeat you I will have a life again! Maybe I'll even give you a buzz cut once I claim your body!"
Burst: 8000 Gansley: 8000
"I think I'll go first if you don't mind!", Gansley said with a sneer. "I summon a monster in defense mode and end my turn!" 'Now to see if he takes my bait!' "It's your move!"
"Alright then.", Burst said calmly as he drew his card. "I play Cards of Consonance to discard a tuner monster and draw two new cards! Next I'll reveal one Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon and use his effect to destroy a monster you control! Lightning Strike! Now I end my turn. And since my turn ended, Ancient's effect activates. I special summon Blue Eyes White Dragon from my deck!"
"Too bad for you that you eliminated my monster! Now it's effect activates! You have to send one card from your hand to the graveyard! Now that it's my move, I play another copy of the monster you destroyed in defense mode. So win or lose, your hand still suffers!"
Burst couldn't help but smirk at how overconfident Gansley was! "Sorry Gansley, but I'm going to end this now! You're a businessman right? Well I've been minimizing the cost to bring out my trump card! I play the Melody of Awakening Dragon! By discarding a card, I can add two dragons with 3000 or more attack and 2500 or less from my deck to my hand! Now I activate the ritual spell card in my hand and tribute a dragon from my hand whose level equals the level of the ritual monster I want to summon! Come on out Chaos MAX! Destroy his defense mode monster! Chaos Burst!"
"Time for a fish fry!", Chaos MAX shouted as he fired a blast of chaotic energy that fried Gansley's monster!
Burst: 8000 Gansley: 1000
Gansley was panicking! "How?! How did I take damage with my monster in defense mode?!"
"Chaos MAX's special ability. When he destroys a defense mode monster, he infilcts double piercing damage. I could finish you off with Blue Eyes White Dragon, but I think I'll call it a turn. "
"Since I lost over 1000 life points I get to special summon Ruklamba, The Spirit King! Next I play monster face down to my defense! The way I duel is the same way I do business! I build up a large force, which lets me fire workers as I please! So if one monster bites it, there are plenty more to pick up the slack!"
"That's just sad. You don't value any of the cards in your deck! All you see them as is expendable tools. Well I'm about to show just how a bond with your cards can pay off! I play the spell card Harmony Absolute! Now I'll send Blue Eyes White Dragon from my field to the graveyard to summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Attack his monster! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"Too bad you weren't aware of my special ability! I sacrifice two monsters to create a damage hole! Now you'll take the damage from your attack instead! WHAT?!" To Gansley's surprise, Blue Eyes Absolute's attack went right through the damage hole striking him full on! "But how did you bypass my damage hole?!"
"He's called Blue Eyes Absolute for a reason. He's completely unaffected by card effects! Game over Gansley!"
"NOOOOOOOOO!", Gansley screamed as he was deleted from the game!
"One down and four to go! Then we're out of here Burst!", Blue Eyes cheered.
"Yeah. But something tells me things aren't going to get any easier."
Sunset opened up her eyes as she arrived at the warp's destination. "Brrr! It's freezing!" She then took notice of her surroundings, and found there was ice as far as she could see. "Well that explains why it's cold. Now, where would a boss be hiding out here? I just need to look for the most obvious area." Sunset looked around, and found an ice castle in the distance. "Of course an ice boss would have an lair made of ice.", she said with a smirk. Sunset then noticed something tapping on her leg. When she looked down, she found a penguin! "Hey little guy! I guess you're heading to that castle too?" The penguin nodded and waddled his way over to the castle with Sunset following him. As they approached, the castle's bridge lowered to reveal even more penguins inside! 'Why are there so many penguins in this place?' Sunset thought to herself. "Is there anyone here?"
"Of course! Look around you! You're surrounded by my army!", a new voice called out in repsonse.
"I meant someone besides the flock of flightless birds!"
"No one here but us Sunset Shimmer!"
"How do you know my name?!"
"I know more than that! I have your entire file! And your about to get iced because I'm going to put the freeze on you!"
"Bad puns? Is that the best you've got?" Soon a desk came into view, and Nightmare Penguin was revealed to be sitting in it!
"The name's Crump! Former accountant of Kaiba Corp.! But in this form you'll recognize me better as Nightmare Penguin! And according to my numbers there's a 100% chance of us dueling!"
"So why bother trying to learn everything about me?"
"Simple. So that way when I return to the real world I can effortlessly become you!"
"Nice try! But no one would fall for that! Because you're not me! Let's duel!" Soon the two of them were warped to an ice berg field!
Sunset: 8000 Crump: 8000
"To start things off, I summon Victory Viper XX03 and equip him with Baashing Shield! Then I'll special summon Guardian Eatos since I have no monsters in my hand! That's it for me."
"I summon the Giant Red Sea Snake! And due to my effect, he gets a 200 point attack boost! Scrap her Victory Viper!" But as Sea Snake was ready to send Victory Viper to the scrap heap, it was shot down by Victory Viper's lasers! "What?! But the numbers said that monster had lower attack points! How could it beat Sea Snake?!" Sunset smirked at how Crump was frustrated.
"You should try showing your work! Bashing Shield boosts the equipped monster by 1000 attack points! Now Eatos attacks you directly!" Crump braced himself from force of the hurricane Eatos sent his way!
Sunset: 8000 Crump: 5300
"And since Victory Viper destroyed your monster by battle, I can activate one of his effects! I think I'll special summon an option token. Once it's on the field, it has the same attack and defense as Victory Viper. That's all for me. You okay? You look like you've gotten cold feet. literally."
"Ack! I forgot the special rules I made for this arena! When either of us loses life points, we get covered by ice! But I'm not out of the duel yet! I set two cards face down and end my turn!"
"Those traps could prove to be hazard. Good thing I know how to blow them away! I activate Twin Twisters! By discarding one card, I can destroy up to two spell or trap cards on the field and destroy them! You know what's coming next right? You love to play with numbers, so add up all the attack points of my monsters!"
"2200+2200+2500...That's 6900 attack points! I lose!", Crump panicked!
"I guess this attack will put you on ice!"
"No! I'm the only one who can make ice pu-", Crump was cut off as he froze solid and broke into pieces!
"Now to warp on out of here!", Sunset said as the warp appeared. When she came out of it, she saw that Burst was waiting for her.
"Nice to see you Sunset. Looks like we both won our battles. Now we'd better see what Inferno is up too."
"Huh. A courthouse.", Inferno said as he noticed where the warp had landed him. "I'm guessing this member of the Big 5 was head of the legal department. Well, I've got a few objections for him!" Inferno then kicked down the courtroom doors! As he went inside, Inferno noticed a figure sitting in the judge's seat. "I'm guessing you picked a monster to fit the theme?"
"Right on time Mr. Flare. I am Johnson of the Big 5. And formerly Kaiba Corp.'s chief legal advisor. But in this body, I'm better known as Judgeman. And you're on trial!"
"Bring it on! Hope you weren't hoping for an easy case! Because I've got a lot of objections!"
Inferno: 8000 Johnson: 8000
"Since this is my courtroom, I'll make the first move. I call Hysteric Angel to the stand! Now, if the defense will put forth its first witness?" Johnson said.
"I summon the Black Stone of Legend to special summon Red Eyes Black Dragon from my deck! Show that Hysteric Angel a fiery testimony! Inferno Fire Blast!"
"Court's ajourned for you!", Red Eyes cried out as he obliterated Hysteric Angel with a mighty fireball!
Inferno: 8000 Johnson: 7400
"Not a bad defense. But the trial is far from over. I summon a monster face down and end my turn."
"Alright then! I play Red Eyes Fusion! Now I'll send Red Eyes Black Dragon and Summoned Skull from my deck to the graveyard to fusion summon Archfiend Black Skull Dragon! And boy does he have some arguments for you! Attack his face down monster!"
"Let's heat up this trial! Archfiend Blaze!", Black Skull shouted as he incinerated Johnson's monster! Johnson was able to block the flames from hitting him, but was shocked when he looked at his life points!
"What?! How did I lose life points when my monster was in defense mode?"
"Easy! Archfiend's effect is that when he attacks or is attacked, I can deal damage equal to the attack of a red eyes monster in my graveyard! Now Red Eyes! Attack him directly!"
"Wait! Objection!"
"Over ruled!", Red Eyes said as he launched a fireball that slammed into Johnson's life points!
Inferno: 8000 Johnson: 2600
"Uhhh...I'd like to call for a court recess!", Johnson panicked! Inferno couldn't help but laugh at him.
"What's the matter? Don't like losing cases? Or are you too used to cheating your way to winning them?", Inferno said as his eyes turned dragonic and wings sprouted from his back. "Face it Johnson! The only one here that's guilty is you!"
"Order in the court! I call Mystical Elf to the stand in defense mode and place one card face down."
"I play Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your trap card! Next I play Soul Charge! I may have to pay 1000 life points, but in return I get to special summon a monster from the graveyard! Welcome back Red Eyes! Now I overlay my two Red Eyes Black Dragons to xyz summon Red Eyes Flare Metal Dragon! Archfiend wastes your monster, and Flare Metal will attack you directly! Flare Metal Blast!"
"Court's ajourned ya judicial jerk!", Flare Metal yelled as he fired a tornado of flames that wiped out Johnson's life points!
"I...Can't....Lose!!!", Johnson screamed as he was deleted from the game! Red Eyes gave Inferno a smile and a triumphant thumbs-up.
"Three of these guys down and two to go!", Red Eyes boasted as he puffed out a smoke ring. Then the courtroom doors opened to reveal Burst and Sunset.
"Wow. You really let him have it!", Burst said as he looked at the trashed court room. "Didn't expect you to use your dragonic abilities so soon either."
"Let's head to warp 4 and see if we can get to Ace and Sonata!", Sunset said. "I hope the two of them haven't gotten into too much trouble by now."
Twilight couldn't beleive she was left out of the action! Burst had instructed everyone but her to take a warp and duel against the Big 5! "I know he's only doing what he thinks is best. But I'm not going to just sit it out!" Twilight headed to warp 4 so she could meet up with Ace and Sonata. Meanwhile, the two of them had just landed.
"Looks like some sort of factory.", Ace said as he looked at where they had landed.
"I'm going to take a wild guess and say this member of the Big 5 was the technology geek.", Sonata stated. At that moment, Twilight had just come out of the warp. "Twilight? What are you doing here?"
"I got tired of waiting. So I decided to join the fight."
Ace sighed. "I guess it can't be helped. The next member of the Big 5 should be in that factory. So let's see if anyone's home." They made their way to the factory, and saw a lone robot waiting for them.
"Greetings humans. I am Nezbitt. Former head of new technologies at Kaiba Corp. and member of the Big 5. But in this world I am better known as the Robotic Knight!"
"Alright you bucket of bolts! Bring it on!", Ace challenged.
"Not so fast! This will be a three-on-one duel! Also, none of you may discuss your strategy with each other!"
"No problem!", Twilight boasted. That gives us the advantage of surprise!"
"First I summon Skilled Dark Magician! Then I'll set two cards face down and end my turn.", Ace said
"I summon a monster in defense mode!", Sonata said. "Next I'll set a card and end my turn."
"I'll call out Magical Knight! I can special summon her when I have a spell card in my hand!", Twilight said.
"I summon Giga-Tech Wolf.", Nezbitt said. "Both of the face up monsters are too much. So I'll attack the face down monster!" But as Giga-Tech Wolf pounced, it was pushed back! Causing Nezbitt to take damage! "What?! How is you monster not destroyed?!"
Sonata smiled. "Island Turtle has high defense points! That means you lose the difference between your wolf's attack and his defense!"
Ace drew a card. "Now to make my move! I play Magical Dimension! I tribute one monster on my field to special summon a spell caster from my hand! And I get to destroy one monster you control! Looks life your wolf is headed to the big junkyard in the sky! Now I special summon Dark Magician Girl! Attack him directly with Apprentice Dark Magic Attack!"
"My turn! I summon Jellyfish and overlay my two monsters to xyz summon Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark! Attack him directly! Aqua Stream Blast! Take that you rust bucket!"
"Hope you're water proof!", Number 37 boasted as he fired a blast of water at Nezbitt!
"It's not over yet! Magical Knight! Attack him directly with Magic Blade Slash!" Magical Knight then charged her sword and released a wave of magic that went flying toward Nezbitt! Nezbitt barely had any time to brace himself from the onslaught of direct attacks!
"This unit has sustained heavy damage!", Nezbitt blared! "Initiating last-ditch effort! Activating Cost-Down! I now upgrade myself to Perfect Machine King! Activating Limiter Removal! Attack strength doubled! Prepare for deletion! Target: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark! Rocket Fist!"
"You won't lay a gear on her!", Ace shouted! "I activate my trap! Negate Attack! This stops you from attacking and ends the battle phase!"
Nezbitt was literally steaming! "End turn." But just as he ended his turn, his whole body started to fall apart! "What?! What's happening?!"
"Limiter Removal is a risky card.", Twilight answered. "It may double the strength of all machine type monsters, but it also destroys them at the end of your turn. And since you summoned yourself to the field, that includes you too! You just started your self-destruct system!"
"This....does not...compute!", Nezbitt screamed as he blew up!
"Booyah!", DMG cheered! "Only one of them left! Then we can head back home!"
"We did it!", Sonata said as she gave Ace a bone-crushing hug! Burst and the others showed up not too soon after that.
"Miss us love birds?", Sunset joked. Ace and Sonata just blushed.
"Come on everyone! One last boss before the final boss! Then we're home-free!", Burst said. And they all headed to warp five. Where Steel was on the way to his fight.
"Didn't expect the last member of the Big 5 to choose such a normal environment. This place looks like a normal city. Hm?" Steel paused as he noticed a series of arrows that were pointing to a specific path. "Gotta give him credit. He likes to get right to the point."
"Looks like these arrows are pointing towards that bridge. Considering he's directing us towards him, this boss might be a big push-over.", BLS Super Soldier boasted.
"Or he could just be really strong and want to challenge us himself. All the same we can't afford to get overconfident." Soon they had arrived at where the arrows were directing them towards. And waiting for them was Jinzo!
"Ah! Right on time Mr. Edge! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Lecter. Last member of the Big 5. And the monster form I've currently assumed is Jinzo. I believe you know why we're here?"
"You get right to the point. I like that. Too bad I've got to. take you down."
"It's time to duel!"
Steel Edge: 8000 Lecter: 8000
"If you've got no problem with it, I'll go first. I summon a monster in defense mode and two cards face down. I end my turn.", Lecter said calmly.
"I guess it's my move then. I discard a card to activate Twin Twisters! This destroys two spell or trap cards on the field! And I choose yours! Next I activate Super Soldier Ritual! I'll send two monsters from my hand to the graveyard to ritual summon Black Luster Soldier-Super Soldier! Next I equip him with Assault Armor! Now I'll send it to the graveyard so he can attack twice! Go! Double Slash!"
"Time to cut this guy down to size!", BLS Super Soldier boasted as he charged forth! Shredding Lecter's monster to pieces ans making another slash at him directly!
"And now for his effect! Since I destroyed your monster by battle, you take damage equal to its' attack!
Steel Edge: 8000 Lecter: 4500
"An impressive start. But now my monster's effect activates. You get to draw three cards, but must discard any spell cards that you draw. Now then. I'll summon Injection Fairy Lily in attack mode! Next I activate her effect! I pay 2000 life points to boost her attack by 3000! Time for your soldier to get his shot!"
"Sorry! But I've got a better idea! I activate Book of Moon! I can change one monster on the field to face down defense mode! Next I play the equip spell Lightning Blade! Take down his fairy! Blade Beam!" BLS Super Soldier fired off a blast of energy from his blade that obliterated Injection Fairy Lily! "And now that she's gone, you take damage equal to her attack! And with that, I end my turn."
Steel Edge: 8000 Lecter: 4100
"I play Cost-Down and discard one card to summon Satellite Cannon and end my turn. And since I just ended my turn, Satellite Cannon gains 1000 attack points! Also, he can't be destroyed by level 7 or lower monsters!"
"Too bad my monsters are level 8! Now I banish Super Soldier Ritual and the light and dark monsters that I sent to activate the ritual to special summon another BLS Super Soldier! Super Soldier 1! Shoot down Satellite Cannon!" The first BLS fired a blade beam that melted Satellite Cannon! "I'm not done yet! Super Soldier 2 can attack you directly!"
"I lose!", Lecter screamed as he was deleted!
"Now all we have to do is take down the final boss and head home!", Steel boasted.
Burst and his friends had just arrived at Steel's location. And since they heard Lecter being deleted, it was safe to assume that Steel had won. "Way to go Steel! Looks like there's only one order of business left!", Burst congratulated him.
"Yeah. The final boss.", Steel said flatly.
"I don't know if anyone else has noticed the big, glaring obvious question.", Twilight mentioned.
"And that is?", Burst asked.
"How are we supposed to fight the final boss if we don't know where it is?"
"Easy. We warp back to the machine city and ask Noa. He's been living here ever since it was being developed, so he should know all there is too know! Come on Twilight! Did you think I'd go through this whole situation and not think to ask where the final boss was?"
"Sorry. I need to take a gaming logic course."
"Logic? Where's the fun in that? I'm acting on gaming instinct. Oh! There's the warp pad!" Everyone boarded the warp pad and were sent back to Machine City where Noa was waiting for them. "You know Noa, for bosses the Big 5 were push-overs. We beat them pretty easily."
"Almost too easily.", Sunset said. "Why can't I shake the feeling that something pretty bad's going to happen when we go against the final boss?"
Noa was about to try and lift her spirits when the monitor started blaring an alert! "It looks like the final level has revealed itself! The Castle of Dark Illusion! That's where the final boss is holed up! This is it! Are you all ready?" Bust nodded in response.
"Alright everyone! Let's show this final level who's boss!" And with that, they all warped to the final level! Once they were at the castle gate, it mysteriously opened. They made their way to the throne room, but found no one there! Suddenly, a seal appeared on the floor and everyone except Burst, Twilight, and Ace were writhing in pain! "Guys! What's happening?!" Soon, evil laughter was heard coming from the air around them!
"At last! Our final trap has been sprung!", the Big 5 cackled in unison. Burst was furious!
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY FRIENDS?!"
"Once each of us was defeated, we cast an elemental brand on them! Originally, we planned to activate this ritual by waiting for you to come here! But this plan is much more favorable! Now! We offer these tributes so you may rise again! Five-Headed Dragon!" Burst's friends were gone in a flash of light, and in their place stood a fearsome dragon with five heads! Each one representing a different element! Burst's eyes turned dragonic and his wings materialized! A blue aura of energy was radiating off him!
"I won't let you get away with this! Let's duel!"
"You'r not going at it alone!" Ace said as he activated his duel disk!
"I'm in this with you two! They'll pay for using our friends like this!", Twilight said.
"Very well fools! But this room is branded with the dragon seal! Only Dragons can do battle here! And Five-Headed Dragon can't be destroyed by battle with a fire, water, earth, wind, or dark monster! It can only be defeated....by a creature of light!"
"Sorry Ace! You'll have to sit this one out! But I'll make sure to make them pay!", Burst said as and Twilight readied their duel disks!
Burst: 8000 Twilight: 8000 The Big 5: 8000
"We shall start the duel!", the Big 5 boomed. "We equip Five-Headed Dragon with Dragon Shield! Now he can't be destroyed by battle or card effects! And we don't take any damage from attacks involving him! And we've rewritten the program so that you do! Next we play Shooting Star Bow ! Our dragon loses 1000 attack points, but he can attack you directly! Five Breath Fury!"
"Agghhh!", Twilight screamed as she took the force of the attack! "Now it's my turn! I special summon Magician's Dragon! I can bring him out at no cost when I take battle damage! Now I equip him with Megamorph! This doubles his attack strength! Next I play Mystical Space Typhoon! This destroys your Dragon Shield! Attack Five Headed Dragon with Spell Breath!"
Burst: 8000 Twilight: 4000 The Big 5: 7000
"Sine it's our turn now, we attack Burst Stream directly!" Five-Headed Dragon ro"ared as he hit Burst with the force of his breath! "What's the matter Burst? Going to cry?" But to the surprise of the Big 5, Burst was laughing!
"Finally! You guys are actually giving us a good duel! But I'm afraid we're going to have to end this! I got stuck with a really good hand! And now I'm going to put it to good use! I play Dragon Shrine and send one dragon from my deck to the graveyard! And since it was a normal dragon, I get to send another one! Next I play Trade-In! I discard one level eight monster and draw two cards! Then I'll discard one card to activate Twin Twisters to destroy your Dragon Seal and Shooting Star Bow! Now I play the spell card Harmony Absolute and send Blue Eyes White Dragon from my hand to the graveyard to special summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Destroy Five-Headed Dragon!"
"Absolute Neutron Blast!", Blue Eyes Absolute roared as he powered up his attack! "This is for my friends!" Blue Eyes fired a rainbow-colored neutron blast that collided with Five-Headed Dragon!
"Gaahhh!", the Big 5 wailed as Five-Headed Dragon was destroyed!
Burst Stream: 4000 Twilight: 4000 The Big 5: 5500
"We'll play a monster in defense mode! Even if you destroy it, you won't deal us any damage!"
"I don't think so! I equip Magician's Dragon with Fairy Meteor Crush! Now when he destroys your monster, he inflicts piercing damage!"
"No!" But it was too late! And in a blast of flame, the Big 5's monster was gone!
Burst: 4000 Twilight: 4000 The Big 5: 2600
"We'll set a card and end our turn. Come and attack. If you've got the guts Burst!", the Big 5 taunted.
"You old farts bet I do! Blue Eyes! Attack them directly! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"You fell for our trap! Mirror Force! Say goodbye to your dragon!"
Burst smiled. "Oh really?" Blue Eyes Absolute smashed right through the Mirror Force! "And that's why he's called absolute! Game over!"
"NOOOOOOO!", the Big 5 screamed as they were permanently deleted! But Burst felt no joy from his victory.
"Inferno...Sunset....Sonata....Steel... I won the duel....but there's no way I can bring you back!", Burst cried in sorrow as tears began to flow down his face. Twilight walked up to console him.
"Burst....it's okay. None of us saw this coming. It's not your fault."
"I know Twilight. But that doesn't change the fact that they're gone."
"No they're not!", Ace said as he noticed four beacons of light coming from where the dragon had once stood.
"Guys!", Burst cried as he rushed to meet them!
"Thanks for bringing us back Burst!", Sunset said.
"If there's anyone who could do it, I knew it'd be you!", Inferno said with a smile
"Come on everyone. Let's go home!", Burst said with a smile. Once they went back to the real world, they all awoke from their game pods. "Mr. Kaiba. After careful consideration, I think it's best if you hold off on the virtual reality gaming."
"After this incident, I'd agree with you. We'll port it to consoles no problem. By the way, what was up with the dragon wings?"
"Just a little gift from my bond with Blue Eyes."
"I'm pretty jealous. My Blue Eyes never gets me anything. He just snorts at me."
"You mean 'she' Kaiba."
"Excuse me?!"
"Yeah. All of your Blue Eyes White Dragons are girls.", Burst said with a smile.
"I.....I need to process this.", Kaiba said weakly. And soon, Burst and his friends headed back to CHS to say goodbye to Princess Twilight.
When the group arrived back at CHS, it was time to say goodbye to Twilight.
"Take care princess!", Ace said.
"Hope to see you soon!", Sonata cheered.
"Yeah. Maybe at the wedding!", Dark Magician Girl joked. Ace and Sonata's faces turned bright red from blushing.
"She got you two good!", Inferno chuckled.
"See you soon Twilight. It was nice to see you duel.", Sunset said.
"Thanks everyone! Now to...huh? Weird. The portal seems to be a bit blocked up."
"Maybe Inferno and I can help.", Burst suggested. "Inferno. Let's use our dragon triggers." And with that, they activated their dragon power. But the huge flow of power caused the portal to take all three of them!
"Well...didn't see that coming." Steel said.
Meanwhile back in Equestria....
Starlight and Spike were expecting only Twilight to return. What they didn't expect to see were two alicorns with her. Two MALE alicorns with dragon wings. "Spike.", Twilight said. "I think you better take a letter...."
