A Normal Day?

"Oh, I can't wait until after school!" Scootaloo exclaimed to her friends on the way to school. She was jumping along the path as if she were Pinkie Pie. She was going to spend her time after school with Rainbow Dash, her idol.

"Wow, ah guess you sound really excited." Apple Bloom replied.

"Yeah, sounds pretty sweet! Although, since you won't be here, we can't go crusading today; but that's just fine, it's only for today." Sweetie Belle tried to sound positive without making Scootaloo feel bad. Just then, the school bell rang.

Come on girls, we’re going to be late if we don’t hurry up!” Apple Bloom shouted as she raced ahead of her friends.

"Wait up!" Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo shouted in unison as they both dashed forward.

After school, Scootaloo waved goodbye to her friends and rode her scooter down the path to Cloudsdale. "I'm so excited I could explode!" Scootaloo found Rainbow Dash sleeping on a cloud before she even reached Cloudsdale. “Hey Rainbow Dash!

Rainbow woke up to a familiar voice. “Ugh, what now?” Rainbow yawned groggily until she looked down and instantly perked up to the sight of Scootaloo. “Hey squirt, didn’t see ya there!

"What're you doing sleeping up there?" asked Scootaloo, "I thought you'd be at Cloudsdale. Lucky I looked up, or I would've missed you." Scootaloo really just heard Rainbow snoring and looked up, but she didn't want to embarrass her idol.

"Oh, you know, taking a well-deserved nap after kicking some clouds Twilight asked me to do." Rainbow yawned again. "So, uh, you ready to fly?"

"Absolutely!"

"Alright, I'll be down there in a second." Rainbow yawned long and loudly.

Scootaloo realized that Rainbow was too tired to do almost nothing. Then, an idea popped into her head. "You look really tired. I'll be back really quickly!" She took off in her scooter and headed towards Sweet Apple Acres.

"Wow, she's half as fast as me! Soon she'll be able to fly."

Two minutes later Scootaloo returned from Sweet Apple Acres with a mug in her hoof.

"You know, You're pretty fast in that scooter of yours."

"What? really?" Rainbow Dash's remark surprised her.

"Yeah, sure, have you ever noticed?"

"No, I never payed attention."

"Say, what're you holding?"

"Oh, this? It's a mug of cider. Figured it'll help you wake up." Scootaloo handed the mug over to Rainbow.

"Thanks squirt. How'd ya know I like cider so much?" Rainbow Dash took a sip of the cider and felt an enormous amount of energy running through her body.

"Eh, it's quite obvious."

"So, now that I have enough energy, you ready to start?"

"Yeah, let's go!"

Scootaloo was flapping her wings so it looked like she was flying, although she was being held by Rainbow Dash who was doing the real flying. It was almost exactly like that race during that camping trip, although this time they weren't racing against anypony.

"Now, what you wanna do is bring your wings to the top and bring them down with enough force that it brings your body upward and forward. You don't want to use a lot of force when bringing it upward so that it pushes you downward and backward."

"Got it. then how do I go different directions or turn?"

"Eh, that stuff is a bit too advanced, let's just learn the basics for now."

Later that day, when Scootaloo finished her training for the day, she waved goodbye to her hero figure and went straight home. She was tired and decided to get some shuteye. "Today was okay, but I still can't fly on my own." Scootaloo thought to herself. "Maybe I won't ever fly." She look at the notes she took on tips on flying and how to do it correctly. She flapped her wings and tried using those steps, but to no avail, she didn't leave the ground. "I'll just be... flightless." She said the last word out loud. She sighed and tucked her covers over and fell fast asleep. Little did she know, that Rainbow was also doubting herself and had thoughts of her own.

Rainbow was pacing back and forth in her bedroom, thinking to herself. "She really can't fly. I started to fly when I was half her age! Maybe she's just a late flier. It doesn't really matter how long it takes for somepony to fly right? Aw, what am I saying, she'll fly one day, no problem. She got me by her side, and I won't let her down!" Rainbow tried to be as positive as she could be, trying not to give up hope that she'll be able to help Scoots fly one day. She knew it would take a lot of effort, but seeing her "sister" finally fly would melt her heart. "Yes, it'll be worth it."

Scootaloo had been hiking on a mountain for hours, and then she stood at the edge of a cliff to see the beautiful view. "Wow," she exclaimed, "This is one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen!" Just then the ground beneath her hoof crumbled. She slipped and she started falling down over a terrifying height of 500 or so feet, and at the bottom there was solid ground, nothing soft at all. She tried her best flapping her wings, but it only slowed down her falling by a tiny bit, but not enough to make her safe. "Help meeeeeeeeee!" She saw Rainbow zip by above her. "Rainbow Dash! Save me!"

Rainbow looked down to see Scootaloo falling to impending doom. The moment Rainbow Dash passed Scootaloo falling helplessly, Rainbow Dash immediately halted her ascent, her heart beating, adrenaline pumping through her body, she bolted towards Scootaloo in an attempt to save her, but she has already fallen at least halfway down the mountain. Suddenly, Scootaloo's wings gave up, causing her to fall even faster. Rainbow tried all she could, but even Scootaloo's greatest hero couldn't save her from this steep fall. Scootaloo hit the ground and woke up in her bed, panting and sweating. "Oh, it was all just a bad dream! Thank Celestia that wasn't real!"

Cutie Mark Crusading... Again

"So, uh, let me get this straight. You didn't fly YET, and you had a nightmare." Asked Apple Bloom.

"Yeah, that's exactly what happened."

"Okay, I get that it's a nightmare, but why are you so concerned about it?"

"Because, Sweetie Belle, it proved that I couldn't fly. It made me seem helpless falling to my death! I was scared, okay?" Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle became cautious not to tick Scootaloo off. It wasn't normal for her to admit being scared or for her break down so easily.

"Look, ah'm sorry that you had a nightmare, but ah'm sure it's nothin'. I understand that it makes you feel uncomfortable, but you'll shake it off, don' worry!"

"I guess you're right. I guess I'm just overreacting. I just felt like there's something strange about it."

"So, any ideas on our cutie marks? I'm pretty sure that'll cheer you up!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed, trying to lighten up the mood.

"Yeah, okay! Ah actually have some ideas! Come on girls, we got some Crusadin' ta do."

Scootaloo immediately perked up. She may not get her cutie mark today, but she'll be sure to have fun with her friends. If she gets her cutie mark, that'd be awesome.

The CMC were on their way to Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack requested them of some assistance. The farm was pretty close to the clubhouse so it's not that much of a walk. As they were walking, Scootaloo noticed some mountains in the distance. One of them looked like the one she fell off of in her nightmare. She shook her head. She wasn't going to let some pesky old dream ruin her day, but she felt strangely uneasy. She's had nightmares before, but this one is different, somehow. She pondered so long that she didn't realize that they had arrived and walked straight into the barn door.

"Oof!"

Sweetie Belle giggled while Scootaloo rubbed her forehead lightly.

"Are you alright? You seemed so thoughtful, you'd think your head would explode!" She joked.

"Yeah, real funny Sweetie." Scootaloo rolled her eyes as the CMC walked into the barn, with Sweetie a grin plastered on her face.

"Oh you're here. Thank goodness. Ah'm so busy I don' think ah can finish sortin' these here apples." Applejack was standing in front of a huge pile of apples. The apples were different in size and color. "We have multiple deliveries calling for different sorts ah apples, but Ah haven't even started sortin' em' yet! You girls think yer okay with helpin' me out?"

"Sure, why not? I don't see a problem with helping out!"

"This, is your great idea?" Scootaloo asked, quite disappointed.

"Ah well, we haven't tried getting our cutie marks in apple sortin', and plus, we're being asked to help out."

"Alright fine, it's just that getting a cutie mark in apple sorting doesn't sound very exciting."

"Well let's get to it!"

"Thank you girls so much! Ah don' know what Ah'd do without you three."

"Cutie Mark Crusaders Apple Sorters!" Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle shouted in unison.

"Yay." Scootaloo said sarcastically.

"Phew, that's the last one!" Sweetie Belle flopped onto the floor, exhausted from sorting all different kinds of apples into separate bins. The CMC were tired from sorting apples for two hours straight.

"Yeah, Apple Bloom, on offense but, you have the worst Cutie Mark ideas ever! Sorting apples is not as easy as you think!"

Applejack walked into the barn to see seventeen bins of assorted apples. "Whoo we! You girls did a great job! Thank ya'll so much!"

The CMC looked at their flanks as Applejack moved the bins out of the barn. Still blank. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle looked a bit disappointed while Scootaloo was relieved.

"Phew! For once, I'm glad I didn't get a Cutie Mark! I mean, who wants to have a special talent in apple sorting?"
Apple Bloom gave Scootaloo a small glare.

"Well, true, I see why you didn't want to get a Cutie Mark in apple sorting, but still."

"Yeah, yeah okay, I know."

"Okay, ah'm noticing yer not yerself today. Something's really wrong. Is it your dream or somethin'?"

"Yeah, you're right. I guess so. I don't even know what it is, but something rubs me the wrong way today. It just might be the dream."

"Anyway, ah'm tired. Ah don't think I have the energy to do anything else today."

"Yeah, me too, besides, Rarity says she wants me to go home early, for something."

"I might as well go home too, plus, I'm just not feeling alright today. Pretty sure I'll be fine tomorrow."

"Okay, ah'll see you two tomorrow!"

Scootaloo looked back to see Apple Bloom waving goodbye to her and Sweetie Belle.

"Come on Scootaloo, it's just a dream. You'll be fine. Just forget about it." She mumbled to herself.

As she walked home she noticed the mountain again. There was something strange about it. She just shook it off and walked home. Little did she know it was a hint to her future.

Rising Rocks

It's been a month since Scootaloo had the nightmare of falling off a mountain. She and her friends had already completely forgotten about it. Over that month she's had a couple flying lessons with Rainbow Dash and had a lot of fun Cutie Mark Crusading with her friends. Scootaloo had almost managed to fly, but could still barely lift herself above the ground. Apple Bloom had come up with many ideas for finding their special talent. They tried and tried but to no avail, the CMC's flanks remained blank. However, every idea Apple Bloom came up with was slightly more treacherous than the last. She appeared to try and push their boundaries as far as possible.

"So, ah was thinkin' maybe we could try an' do some rock climbin'!"

"Sounds like fun, I'm in!" The orange filly had a huge, excited smile on her face.

"I'll go, but I just don't' want to get hurt." Sweetie Belle gently bit her lower lip and lowered her head a little as she looked at her friends, showing a little bit of fear but was still willing to go because she didn't want to disappoint her friends.

When the CMC arrived at the recreation center, they quickly dashed over to the rock climbing area. They looked up at the different sets of rock walls.

"Whoa..."

Every different rock wall looked amazing and fun to climb. But only one of them caught Scootaloo's eye.

"Hey, how about that one?" She pointed to the tallest one in the room. It went all the way to the ceiling, which was about 50 feet tall.

"Sure, that looks fun! Sweetie you in?" Apple Bloom's smile lowered a bit when she noticed Sweetie Belle trembling in fear. Scootaloo also turned around and felt her hopes crumble a tad.

Sweetie noticed that she was going to disappoint her friends if she declined, so she reluctantly agreed to go. "Alright, I'll go, but can I be in the middle?"

"Sweet!" Apple Bloom and Scootaloo's smiles returned to full size as they went to go grab their gear.

The CMC were around one-fourth of their way up the rock wall. Scootaloo was at the back and Apple Bloom at the front. Apple Bloom and Scootaloo were having a great time while Sweetie Belle on the other hoof, was terrified to death. She was slow and tried to carefully take each step, but her two friends were advancing faster and barely took a look at where they were stepping. Due to being in the middle and with her friends faster than her, she had a difficult time climbing.

"Can you slow down a bit, please? I'm having a hard time here." The next rock was about an inch out of Sweetie's reach due to her friends' quick advancing. She tried to grab it but slipped and fell. "Whoa!" This yanked Scootaloo off of her hooves and forced Apple Bloom hold both of their weight, which made her fall back a bit and stopped her advancing.

Apple Bloom held onto her rocks for dear life, even though there was a rope hanging from the ceiling attached to them preventing them from falling. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, dangling below Apple Bloom, tried to grab onto the rocks in front of them, but due to the constant swaying and Apple Bloom having trouble holding on, it was difficult for them to grab onto the rocks.

Scootaloo swayed back and forth in an attempt to get back to the rocks. This helped Sweetie grab back onto hers and after a few moments Scootaloo managed to grab back on, relieving Apple Bloom of holding both their weights.

"Now, can you PLEASE go a little slower?"

Apple Bloom and Scootaloo look at a displeased Sweetie Belle and were a bit disappointed, but due to what had just happened, they both nodded and agreed to climb slower.

"Sorry Sweetie, ah I guess ah didn't realise how fast we were going."

Sweetie Belle gave her friends an unpleasant look before they resumed climbing, at a slower speed.

Halfway up the rock wall, Sweetie Belle looked down and to her horror, they were at least 50 feet above the ground. In order to prevent herself from passing out from fear in the middle of climbing, she told her friends, "Wait, wait, one moment. I just looked down and I feel uneasy. Give me one moment to recover." Both of her friends stopped and waited until Sweetie was ready to get back on track. Apple Bloom looked down at her in concern as Scootaloo rolled her eyes in mild annoyance. After about a minute or two of waiting, the CMC were back on track and climbing up the rock wall at a slow but steady pace.

Scootaloo wasn't paying much attention to how close they were to the top due to how much fun she was having. Suddenly, she bumped into Sweetie's rump, which caused her to bump into Apple Bloom like a chain reaction. Her face became lightly flushed, which was clearly visible on her white fur. Scootaloo looked up and realised they had already reached the very top of the rock wall.

"Uh, oops. Sorry about that"

Visibly embarrassed, Sweetie lashed out at Scootaloo without knowing.

"Pay attention to where you're going before you bump into somepony's rump next time!"

"Okay, sheesh, I didn't mean to."

"Break it up girls. We don't want to have a fight dangling on a rope a hundred feet above the ground."

"Speaking of 'above the ground', how in Equestria are we going to get down?"
Apple Bloom and Scootaloo gave her a blunt look before pointing at a zip line leading to the floor right next to the side of the rock wall.

"Oh."

"Weeeeee!" Apple Bloom and Scootaloo were quickly zooming down the zipline with their hooves extended out in all directions.

"Aaaagggghhhh!" Sweetie Belle, on the other hoof, was screaming out of fear, tightly hugging the rope and her eyes closed with a small bead of a tear in each eye as she zoomed behind her friends.
Sweetie's high-pitch scream continued all the way until she reached the bottom. When she looked around her two friends were standing there with sly smirks on their faces and a lot of ponies around were staring at her. Supremely embarrassed, she jumped off the zip line and pushed down her helmet to cover her eyes with her entire face a bright pink color as the trio walked over to take off their gear and put it away.

As the three walked out of the recreation center they looked at their flanks.
There wasn't a rock climbing cutie mark. In fact, there was no cutie mark at all. They sighed in disappointment but quickly perked back up after a moment or two.

"So, what should we do tomorrow?"

"I don't know, maybe croquet?"

"How about skydiving?"

"Or we could try being a chicken!"

"Hey!"
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle giggled.

"Ah'm just joking with ya Scootaloo."
Scootaloo rolled her eyes before she got an idea.

"I know, I know!"

"Okay, spill it, 'Chicken Feathers'."

"It's Scootaloo to you, 'Big Bow'. Anyway, since we just went rock climbing, How about we take it to the next level?"

"How do you plan on doing that?"

"Let's go hike up a mountain!"

The Fall

View Online

The CMC were getting ready for their hiking trip up a mountain that Apple Bloom picked. They had also called up Rainbow Dash to meet them there after a few hours so that she could fly them down one by one when they get to the top since there wasn't any zip line or anything to help them get down except for hiking all the way back down again. Packing up her things to get ready for the trip. She had checked to make sure she brought everything. A compass, binoculars, a backpack, a couple of snacks and three bottles of water in case the other two forget to bring them. With what she had packed, she headed out the door.

Scootaloo arrived at the meeting point she was told and found that her two friends had already been waiting for her. "Hey guys, sorry I'm late, I was packing a few extra things. I brought two extra water bottles in case you forgot to."
"Wow, lucky ya brought them because we both forgot to bring them."

Scootaloo smirked as the three began their climb up the mountain. The climb up was exhausting and dangerous, but after a few hours, the Crusaders made their way to the top of the mountain.

Rainbow Dash was relaxing back at her home in the clouds. She had been told in advance a few hours ago that she would meet up with the Crusaders at the top of the mountain they had chosen. She was to fly them down one by one down the mountain since they didn't want to hike all the way back down. Plus, it was faster. Then she realised it was the time they had planned for her to fly over and bring them down. She flew out the door and headed for the mountain. She decided to take it easy and slow since there really wasn't any rush. After a few minutes of flying, Rainbow spotted the CMC on the mountain in the distance. She saw Apple Bloom waving her hoof, but wasn't paying much attention to her. She was looking over at Scootaloo, who was standing at the edge of a cliff in the mountain looking over the horizon of a beautiful sunset.

At the top, Apple Bloom put on the binoculars and noticed Rainbow Dash in the distance heading their way. "Hey girls, I see Rainbow Dash Uh, she seems to be taking her time so ah guess we have a few minutes before she gets here." She waved to Rainbow in the distance.
"That's okay. I want to take this time to look at this beautiful scenery."
Scootaloo trotted over and stood on the edge of a cliff that was at the top of the mountain. Under it, was a beautiful sunset over a forest that seemed to be endless. The trees, the sun, and the other mountains in the distance made it seems like a painting on a large canvas. This gave her the idea for trying to paint for the next thing they try to get their cutie marks in.
Her thoughts were interrupted when the ground underneath her hoof crumbled and she slipped and fell over the edge.
"AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!"
"SCOOTALOO!!!"
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle rushed over to the edge of the cliff to see Scootaloo falling helplessly down the cliff. Sweetie had her hoof over her muzzle and had small tears in her eyes. In the distance, Rainbow Dash spotted this, and with as much adrenaline she could muster up, she quickly bolted towards her falling fan in an attempt to save her.
"RAINBOW DASH! SAVE ME!!!"
Scootaloo was flapping her tiny wings at fast as she could in an attempt to fly or at least glide, but after a few seconds she hit a branch sticking out of the mountain, which injured her but slowed her down for a small bit before she accelerated again. The branch had injured her wings, but still flapped them as hard as she could even though it was painful. Another few seconds later she hit a crag, which completely broke her tiny wings and rendered her helpless and spinning. There were tears streaming from her eyes, which were splashing all over Rainbow Dash's face, who was starting to have tears of her own.
"I GOT YOU!!!"
It was at that moment where time had appeared to have slowed down or had almost frozen. It was this moment Scootaloo realised that not even her idol could rescue her from this fall. At this point, nothing could. She accepted her fate, but she knew Rainbow Dash and her friends would not. A teary smile slowly stretched across her face as she closed her eyes. This is how it ends. She would now be a part of the beautiful scenery she had just seen before this fall.
"Rainbow Dash, don't feel bad, I know you tried, it's not your fault." she whispered quietly.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" She could hear Rainbow Dash's voice as she fell.
Suddenly, there was a loud crack, there was pain, sharp pain, and everything went black and quiet.

Asleep

"Scootaloo." a strangely familiar voice echoed all around Scootaloo.

"Huh?, who's there?" She asked the nothingness. It was dark. Everything was dark. She seemed to be floating in a black abyss.

"Scootaloo."

She stared off into the nothingness and asked again. "Who are you, and why am I here?"

"Fly, Scootaloo."

"Wha? What's going on?" Scootaloo began to panic. She had no idea what was happening. After a few minutes of silence she had calmed down.

"Hello?"

"Scootaloo."

"Who are you?"

"Fly."

"What?"

"Come fly to me, Scootaloo."

Hesitantly, she flapped her wings in an attempt to fly towards the voice. "Argh!" Scootaloo winced as a tear slid out her eye. There was pain in her wings. Severe pain. She looked back, and in shock, saw that her wings were broken and damaged. She then sat down, and wept.

"I'm afraid to say, there's no recovering from this accident. She's comatose and her wings have suffered such injuries that cannot be healed, she would stay grounded for the rest of her life, if, she even lives." Said Doctor Horse.

"What?!" Rainbow Dash, Apple Bloom, and Sweetie Belle had rushed Scootaloo to the Ponyville Hospital as soon as they could, and the doctors made examining her their top priority as soon as they came in.

"What do you mean, 'if she even lives'?"

"She has also broken a bone in her back which is vital for fillies, and without it, she'll die in her coma within weeks. Grown mares like you can live without it, but will leave them paralyzed and disabled for at least a few years."

"No..." Rainbow's heart sunk when she heard the results.

"She... Broke a bone in 'er back?"

"Yes. She was lucky enough to survive the fall, but not enough that she'll live long after this."

"But, there's got to be some other way right? There has to be!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed.

"Yes, there is, actually. Unfortunately, it isn't easy. She will have to have somepony willing to donate their bone to replace her broken one, but otherwise, she won't survive."

"I... I-I can't do it. I can't. As much as I care for her as a friend, I can't."

"I wish I could, but I'm not brave enough either. Plus, if either one of us donates, we'll die since we're fillies too, just like her."

"That is true."

"Sorry Scoots, I... I wish we could help." The four ponies looked at Scootaloo lying on the hospital bed, and were surprised, especially Rainbow Dash, when a few tears slipped from her eyes.

Doctor Horse looked over at the rainbow pegasus, who was giving him a determined look. He quickly got the message she was giving him.

"Did, did she hear us?"

"No, that's not possible, she's unconscious, in a coma, but how she just cried, that normally isn't supposed to happen either. But it's nothing major. Don't think too much about it."

"Oh."

The two Crusaders hung their heads in sorrow, and even cried a little.

Doctor Horse sighed. "Well, I'm sorry girls, but there's nothing we can do beyond this point."

"It's okay doc, we know you tried your best. Girls, I think it's time we leave then."

Rainbow Dash and the Crusaders glanced over at Scootaloo one last time before they started to head out the door. While they were leaving, the doctor cleared his throat rather loudly, which caught Rainbow's attention. She realized he was giving her a signal. She glanced back at the doctor and said, "You know what girls? I have to stay behind for a little bit."

"What? But why?"

"I uh, errr."

"We need to talk about a few results and about Scootaloo."

"Oh okay."

"Yeah, what he said. You two head home now."

Rainbow walked back into the room as the two fillies headed out the door. She turned to Scootaloo, hiding a tear, and gently put a hoof on her, but making sure not to harm her already injured body.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" The doctor asked. He didn't get an answer. There was silence for a whole minute before Rainbow broke it.

"Yes, I'll do anything it takes to let her live. Also," She turned around to face the stallion with a serious look on her face. "There's something else I want you to do as well."

Rebirth

"Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?"

"Yes. I'm sure."

"Miss Dash, you must realise that once you donate them to Scootaloo, you won't ever get them back unless you have a donor. And even if you do, we can't give it to you right away because you'll be rendered temporarily paralysed for at least a year."

"Yes, I realise!" Rainbow's sudden snap startled the doctor.

"Yes, I know what'll happen to me, but do you know who that is? That's Scootaloo! She's my... My sister." The last two words came out as a whisper and Rainbow turned around hung her head, on the verge of tears. She didn't want the doctor to see her cry. When she finally managed to catch herself, she turned back to the stallion with a stern face.

"Do it."

"Okay, Miss Dash. Come. Follow me to the operating room, and I'll send a nurse to take Scootaloo there."

Scootaloo was sobbing. Her wings. They're broken. If she wasn't going to be able to fly then, she definitely won't fly now. Sitting in the void, there was nothing but pitch darkness all around her. All she could do was sob. Suddenly, she felt movement. It's like as of the whole void starts moving. It felt like a minor earthquake.

"Scootaloo!" The mysterious voice called out to her again, but in a tense tone, almost sounding scared.

"Huh?"

"Come back Scootaloo, come back!"

"W-what? Where? Who are you? Where are you? Where do I go?"

"Come here!" The voice started to sound like it was shouting in fear.

Scootaloo began following towards the voice. It was the only thing to do. If it was a trap, or if she were to die, so be it. She wanted to know what was going on even if it were to kill her. All of a sudden, the movement stopped. It no longer felt like a miniature earthquake. Then she had a strange feeling. Even though she was running towards the voice that she heard, there was a strange feeling that made her feel like she was lying on something, like an out of body feeling.

"Whoa! What the? What's happening?" She was suddenly picked up, and then thrown back down to the ground. There was a beeping noise. Constant beeping. Then she heard another familiar voice.

"Scootaloo..."

"Huh? Rainbow Dash?" The voice was Rainbow's, but she sounded sorrowful.

"Hang in there squirt, you'll be just fine." Those words hit Scootaloo hard, and she began sobbing again. Her sobbing was interrupted, with a sharp cutting pain in her wings. She looked back, and to her shock, her wings were slowly falling off. They were broken, but they were the only things that made her the pony she was, and now they were falling off. After a few moments trying to endure the excruciating pain she had passed out. When she woke up, she looked back and realised she was no longer a pegasus, but an earth pony. Then she heard the mysterious voice again that she heard ever since she came into the void.

"Scootaloo."

"Yes?"

"Come to me, Scootaloo." It was only then, that she realised why the voice was so familiar. The voice was Fluttershy's.

"Fluttershy?"

"Yes. Fly to me, Scootaloo."

"But I can't. I don't have my wings anymore."

"Look!" She felt a tingling feeling on her back. When she looked back, she noticed new wings growing. They were the size of an adult pegasus' wings, however.

"What? Where did these come from?"

"Fly to me Scootaloo." Scootaloo looked back at her wings and flapped them. She began to fly. Determined, she began flying towards Fluttershy's voice.

"Hang on, Fluttershy, I'm coming!" Suddenly, there was a faint light in the direction of Fluttershy's voice. It grew brighter as she flew towards it. Scootaloo put her hoof over her eyes trying to protect them from the blinding light, but still headed towards it. Then everything went white and the beeping sound had stopped.

Awakening

Scootaloo woke up with a shock, panting and sweating. After taking a while to catch herself, she observed her surroundings. There was a beeping noise, she looked over and noticed she was not in her bedroom. It was uncomfortable. She looked down and saw that she was in a hospital bed. After a moment she realized she was in the hospital. She tried to get out of bed and felt pain in her wings. Looking back down, she noticed her entire torso was wrapped in bandages. Then she looked over and saw Rainbow Dash. Her eyes were wide and her jaw dropped.

"What?"

Rainbow broke into tears. Joyful tears. She then took a few moments to catch herself and tried to clear up Scootaloo's confusion.

"You were in a coma for a month and a half now."

"Oh. Wait, why are you in the hospital too?"

Before she could answer, Doctor Horse walked into the room.

"Ah, what a pleasant surprise! Scootaloo! You're finally awake!"

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Was I really out that long? It just felt like a short nightmare is all."

"Well, believe me, it was, and everyone was afraid you wouldn't wake up"

"Well, I'm here now. Anyway, I just want to know, when do I get out of here, and why is Rainbow Dash here?"

"Oh, well fortunately for you, you're actually going to be able to leave in a few days. Rainbow Dash, on the other hoof, has to stay here until she gets... A special treatment."

Scootaloo looked over at Rainbow, who had an uneasy look on her face.

"Um, what kind of treatment?" Right after she asked, she noticed the doctor suddenly had the same uneasy expression as Dash.

"Err well... Uh, she... Injured her wings... Shortly after you fell. The treatment's just to help her recover."

"Oh. Okay"

With a sigh of relief, the doctor excused himself out of the room, which caught Scootaloo's attention, and she became suspicious. Rainbow and the doctor were hiding something from her. And she needed to know what it was. Her wings bothered her as well.

"Why are they so uncomfortable?" She thought to herself. Then she looked over at Rainbow Dash. Her torso was completely wrapped. Her wings couldn't be seen underneath the bandages, her sides were completely flat. That's when she pieced together everything.

"No. You couldn't have."

"Huh?" Rainbow turned around to face Scootaloo, only to find that she was on the verge of crying.

"Tell me the wings underneath these bandages... Tell me they aren't yours!"

Rainbow Dash didn't say a word, she looked away, afraid Scootaloo would see her tear up.

"Please no! Tell me this is only a dream! This can't be happening! Oh Celestia, how could you do this? Why, would you do this?"

"I'm sorry, squirt." Rainbow mumbled. Scootaloo was bawling, unable to control herself after learning that her idol had practically given up all she had, just so she could fly.

"I... I don't understand why you did this. Why?"

Rainbow turn back around to face her.

"I wanted to make sure you fulfilled your dream. I hated seeing you unable to fly, and I wasn't able to teach you. So this was the only way I knew how to help. Please understand."
