prolog- queen chrysalis's memories

View Online

I remember the day when thorax had just killed her first pony. She was a natural. Just like her mother (me). I knew someday she would be the perfect queen and I never doubted her decisions. Thorax takes after me when it comes to looks and personality. She has long purple mane that flows beautifully. yes I know that I have greenish mane but she is beautiful just like me.

Then I had miasma. she was a disappointment to our whole bloodline. It took her two years to get her little butt off the ground and in the air. It took even longer for her to kill her first pony let alone change one into a changeling. she was 6 before she could mimic what other ponies looked like. Although she is pretty. But pretty doesn't help her. Now miasma is 17 and she is finally coming out of her shell and being evil... in her own way...

Then last but certainly not least was paradox. She was one year old when she mastered her magic and changed a pony into a changeling. Two years old when she mimicked a pony and three when she killed one. She was moving along quickly but there was something about her that put me off. Something I didn't like. She hated being around thorax miasma. She obviously was trying to be like me and get my queenship and thorax and miasma were in her way. Clever girl i would say. Paradox is now 15 and the 15 years of living with her and I still have that strange feeling about her.

chapter one- being an evil princess

I was trotting along the long line of chrysalises, Glancing at each one as I went. Finally one caught my eye. I blew the thin layer of dust off the pony's chrysalis. I had never seen this one before. Mom must have just caught him. I thought. Sometimes I felt bad for the ponies in the chrysalis's, but I felt extremely bad for this one and I could never find out why. I sighed.

"Mother is gonna hate me if she finds me doing this." I muttered to myself.

I busted through the gross green blob. the pegasus stallion poured out of it.

It took a little but he slowly opened his eyes and look up at me. They were a beautiful yellow and looked nice with his light blue mane and dark gray fur.

"Cloudchaser?" he muttered.
I lowered my head down to him.
"Actually no." I said. "Im paradox, And you are?"
He blinked a couple more times.
"You know you look a lot like...'' He said and trailed off.
"The Queen of Changelings." I finished for him.
I could feel his fear.
"I just set you free if I were to kill you I would have done it by now." I snapped. "Besides I'm going to get in a lot of trouble so go, please go."
The pegasus lifted into the air and was about to bolt but he looked back at me.
"So you're a princess?" He questioned.
"Yes." I said quickly and shooed him off.

"PARADOX, THORAX, MIASMA!" Mother screeched throughout the hive.
When we had all gathered I could already guess what mother was going to say.
"How about we have some fun?" she said just as i thought she would.
Thorax was now more interested.
"Depends are we going to catch or kill ponies?" She hissed.
"That's my girl!" Mother boomed. Miasma sighed. She probably knew that mother was just going to criticize her.

I wasn't in the mood for hurting ponies.... something had changed....

chapter two- a grave mistake

Once we got out of the shadowed hive that was hidden deep in the everfree forest, I darted away. Which was probably not the best idea but it was all I had. I was just going to look around a bit then come back later. No big deal.

After what had felt like hours of trotting through slimy trees and thorn bushes, the forest thinned out and I could almost see a beautiful pastel blue sky. I was about to leap up like a little filly, but I heard voices.

I tried to remember somepony that I had seen before so I could morph into them. Finally it struck me. That pony that I had saved from my mother's wrath.

I had always wanted to use my powers for something. I hoped these ponies were in love or something so I could feed.

I crept up on the ponies. There was a group of them. About five. They looked only about 12 years old. I pumped my newly feathered wings and headed towards the group.

One of them looked over her shoulder. She was a pretty at such a young age. She had white fur and pink mane that curled perfectly around her face. along with that she had freckles and pretty blue-greens eyes. she reminded me a lot of a certain princess when she was younger.

i flapped over to the group.
"Thunderlane?" She asked sounding genuinely confused. "I thought you and Cloudchaser went off to clear the clouds."

The four others turned to look at me in confusion. "Uh, I just thought it would be more fun to hang out with you guys." i offered.
The sound of my voice was startling since I wasn't hearing mine.
"Really?" Said a colt with fiery red mane."Cause you never miss a chance to be with Cloudchaser. Come on dude when are you gonna ask her out? You've been crushing on her forever."

"I just thought I was neglecting some of my friends. Besides I don't want her to know I like her, so I'm going to take some time off." I said hoping that I was acting like Thunderlane.
"Typical Thunder." Said a filly with blue highlights in her mane. "You're such a coward sometimes."
I lowered my head pretending to be ashamed. "I know it's a habit when it comes to mares."

I was just happy these foals knew Thunderlane and I could pull this off. But, just to ruin my fun, Thunderlane came swooping in. I frowned. The filly with blue highlights eye's widened in surprise.
"Whats going on here?" snarled the colt with fiery mane.

the real thunderlane tackled me to the ground.
"WHO ARE YOU AND HOW DO YOU LOOK EXACTLY LIKE ME?!" He demanded.
"You're such a party pooper." I said completely ignoring his demand.
"You better not hurt these foals!" He roared.
"How can I hurt them WHEN YOU ARE CLEARLY HOLDING ME DOWN?!" I shot back.

"Get off of me." I snorted and kicked him in the stomach.
I changed back into me, smirking widely as I saw him rolling on the ground in pain.
"I should finish you off, but I won't." I told him.

I turned to the foals. They screeched and ran off. when I turned back to Thunderlane he was on his feet and looked like he was going to lung at me. he stamped his foot and couple of pegasi appeared out of the clouds. a couple more swooped down with ropes.

"Hmm im wondering why you're so prepared." I said with a questioning gaze.
"We are on the revere forest patrol and it's our duty to be prepared for monsters like you!" announced one of the pegasi, who acted like he had way too much authority.

And with that they tied me up, tied my wings down and dragged me away.

chapter three- where am I?

I woke up in dark place. I'm used to dark places and all, but I didn't like this one.

I snorted loudly and pawed at the ground with my tattered hooves.

Soon enough somepony lifted up a black cover sort of thing that had been draped over an old cage. I shook my head. Why would they put that there? To mess with me? To make the scene more dramatic then it was?

The pony that had lifted the drape was a young pegasus with yellow fur and almost too bright blue mane. She squeaked and darted away quickly.

Two older ponies walked up to my cage. I raised my eye brow. One of them was Thunderlane. he looked serious about what he had to say. The other had mane that looked like fire. He just looked like he was just there cause he could be.

"Hello again." I said in my most mischievous tone of voice. "You know Thunderlane I saved you twice, you should be thankful."

"Well i'm not. You tried to hurt those innocent foals who did nothing to you!" He snarled. He was obviously just trying to intimidate me and it wasn't working.

"Who said I was trying to hurt them?" I said while fussing over my hoof. "Maybe you're the monster keeping the innocent one in a cage."

Just them a mare with light purple fur and blue mane with white tips, burst into the room in which I was caged.

"Then what were you doing around those foals?" She demanded. "Do you really expect me to think you were just going to play with them and leave?"

"Eavesdrop much?" I said, rolling my eyes at her.

"Well someone has to make sure everyone that is in here is alright." She shot back.

"By sitting at the door listening to everything everyone says?" I laughed. "Hows that working out for you?"

Thunderlane charged up to my cage. "You leave her alone alright?" He sneered. "We are going to take you to some pony that can handle you."

"What? You can't handle me Thunder? Thats pretty sad." I knew I was making these ponies mad, they had to get rid of me.

"We are taking you tomorrow." He said ignoring me. "I don't want anypony going near here cage."

He waved to the purple pony and shut the door.

"Why are you still in here?" I hissed.

"Because I don't think you are the pony you think you are."

I just stared at him. No pony had ever said that to me.
