A ponified human into alicorn goes to equestria due to a accident on a starship
Jonathan is the son of a starship captain. He used a special serum that the doctors have made on the starship, that turns everyone that drinks it into techni colored ponies, and became a pony. A alicorn to be exact. He now goes by the name of nova gear, the alicorn of machines. But one day on his birthday, a horrible accident happens and Jonathan's life will turn upside down. Will he make a new life on a new planet that has ponies like him, or will he be stuck with the dread of losing someone special eating away at his mind.
Jonathon walked through the hallways of his father's starship, The Hermes, he was heading to the medical ward to do something special for his father. It is also his birthday in a few days, and this was also going to be a birthday gift for himself. As he neared the medical ward he stopped and looked out a view port window and smiled. Outside the window was the vastness of space. Beautiful space. He stayed and watched the stars slowly go by before he turned and walked into the medical ward. As he entered, he heard some old timey German music. He looked around and saw a tan unicorn in a lab coat and a pair of glasses humming along with the music. He saw the unicorn clean some test tubes with his magic while he danced a little bit. "Hello Hans." Jonathan said. The unicorn put down the test tubes and looked over. As he saw Jonathan, he smiled.
"Ah, hello Jonathan." He said. "And please, call me healing wave, ok?" He asks. Jonathan nods and looks over at the old phonograph.
"You still have that old music thing?" Jonathan asks. Healing wave deadpans at he looks at Jonathan.
"That music thing, has been in my family for generations." He angrily says. Jonathan raises his hands .
"Ok, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you." Jonathan says. Wave smirked at Jonathan and laughed.
"Haa, I'm just yanking your chain, but still. What can I do you for?" Wave asks. Jonathan smiles.
"I want to under go ponification." Jonathan says. Wave's eyes widen.
"Ar-are you sure?" Wave stammered. Jonathan nods and sits on the medical bed.
"I do. I want to under go it." He says. Wave nods and goes over to cabinet. He opens it and takes out a vital with a rainbow like liquid with his magic. He walks over to Jonathan and hands him the vial.
"Now, before you drink this, I will tell you this, do you really want to go through with this? The process is random and you will never know which of the races you will be. But the good news is, it chooses the race that fit a you the most. The bad news is, you won't be able to turn back into a human. Do you still want to go through with this?" Wave asks. Jonathan looks at the vial in his hand. He then looks at wave with a look of determination and nods.
"Yes, I do. I want to go through with this. And my birthday is in a few days. So I thought this would be a good birthday gift for me." Jonathan says. Wave nods and smiles.
"Ok, when your ready, drink it. The process will take a hour to complete." Wave said while putting a couple of medical books back. Jonathan pops open the cork of the vial and drinks the contents.
"Blagh." Jonathan said, sticking his tongue out. Wave laughs and nods.
"Yea i remember my time when i drank it. Wasn't very good tasting." Wave said as Jonathan sets the vial on the table next to him and immediately felt tired.
"Ah there it goes. Just lay down and let the process take over." Wave said. Jonathan nods and lays back. He closes his eyes and a few seconds later was fast asleep. While he slept, he dreamed of his child hood. He was having fun. With his mother and father. He smiled as his father carried him on his shoulder as they watched a parade at a amusement park. He looked up and saw fire works go off. He saw a light in the distance and saw it come closer. Jonathan squinted to see it better and he thought he saw a outline of a pony, when the light got extremely bright. Jonathan opened his eyes and looked around. He saw that he was back in the medical ward.
"Ah your awake, good." Wave said. "And I have to say, the process was a complete success. In fact I am quite surprised." He said.
"Surprised?" Jonathan asks. Wave nods.
"Its best if I showed you." Wave said. Jonathan weakly nods. Wave grabs a mirror with his magic and brings it towards Jonathan. Jonathan's eyes widen at what he saw. He saw a pony with dark blur fur that almost looks black if looked at a distance, with a mane that seems to twinkle with stars and two golden eyes that glow like twin suns, stare back through the mirror. But that's not what made him surprised, he had wings and a horn.
"Am I a pegacorn!?" Jonathan yells. He craned his neck and looked at his body, he could see that he attained his height. He also saw a mark on his flank. He saw two gears inside a sun. He looked at wave and saw him with a wide smile.
"Why am I a pegacorn?" Jonathan said. Wave shrugs but still has his smile.
"I don't know why, like I said, the process is random. So I don't know why it chose you as a pegacorn, but there is some good news." Wave said.
"And what is that?" Jonathan asked.
"Your the first pegacorn the human race has." Wave says. "And while you where waking up I took some of your blood and I have some great news. You have the strength of the normal ponies, the flight of the pegasi, and the magic of the unicorns. Which makes you all three races put together. This is a scientific miracle!" Wave shouted
"And I will need a new name as well, right?" Jonathan asks. Wave nods as he walks away muttering how this is a great day for science. Jonathan thought of a name. 'Lets see, I love to tinker with machines, I have a gear type mark on my flank. Hmm. Ah I got it!' He thought. "Nova gear!" Jonathan says. Wave looks back at him and raises a eye brow.
"Nova gear?" He asks. Jonathan nods and smiles.
"Yes, think of it, I love to tinker with machines, their is a gear type mark on my flank, and my mane twinkles like it is made out of stars. So, nova gear works!" Jonathan says.
"That name fits." Wave said. "Ok, your new name is now Nova Gear!" He yells.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! The alarm clock went off, telling a certain alicorn in bed to wake up. Nova gear grunted as he put a pillow over his head to drown out the noise but it was to no avail. He then threw the pillow at the alarm clock knocking it onto the metal floor, ceasing the infernal beeping. Nova sat up yawning and stretched. He stretched his wings to get the stiffness out of them. He got out of his bed onto all fours and shook his body to wake up more. He walks over to the bathroom and does his morning rituals. After he put on his clothes that had a insignia that told him that he was the son of the captain. He walks out of the bathroom and looks at the holo calendar hanging on the wall and saw that today was his birthday. He smiles as he trots out of his room and works his way to the cafeteria, saying hello to everybody and pony he met. It has been a few days since Jonathon became a alicorn and went by the name of Nova gear. He also let healing wave and the other doctors and ponies augment on him, which was a total success. He is now stronger than the normal ponies, can fly faster than the pegasi, and can summon the most advance spells without any problems. He turned around the corner towards the cafeteria and saw a female normal pony having trouble carrying a large stack of holo discs.
"Do you need some help?" Nova asked the pony. The pony slightly jumped at the sound of Nova's voice and looked at Nova with a nervous look. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to spook you." Nova said.
"No, no, it's fine, I should have been more careful and should have carried less holo discs. Heh heh." The female pony laughed nervously.
"Yea I can see that." Nova joked. "Any way, the names Nova gear." He said, holding out a hoof.
"The names database." She said, shaking Nova's hoof. "And I see that your the pegacorn that everypony's been talking about. It's a honor to meet you." She said, giving a salute.
"Thank you. Now then, let's see if I can help you with those holo discs." Nova said lifting the discs that were on the floor with his magic.
"Thank you, and please, set them in the saddlebags around my waist. That's where the rest of them are." Data said. Nova nods and places the discs in database's saddle bags. "Thank you." Data said.
"No problem." Nova nodded. "Well, see you than database." Nova said. Data nodded and walked off. Nova smiled and walked into the cafeteria. He looked around and saw people and ponies talking with each other. Some of the people and ponies looked at him, but everyone and pony else were busy.
"Nova, over here!" A familiar voice said. Nova looked and saw his father sitting at a table with some of the bridges crew, some human, some ponies, waving at him. Nova nodded, grabbed a tray with some toast and a glass of Orange juice, and walked towards his father.
"Hello dad!" Nova said happily as he sat in a specialized chair for ponies.
"Hows my little pegacorn doing?" Nova's dad smiled
"I'm doing good, the augmentations were a complete success." Nova said. Nova's dad nodded in agreement.
"I heard about that. And I want to tell you that, I am so proud of you Jonathan. Now I know that you want to be called Nova, but today is your birthday, so I wouldn't mind calling you Jonathan." Dad said. As they talked, some of the crew members and ponies left to head back to their stations.
"Ok, now before I head back to the bridge Jonathan, I have something for you." Dad said, reaching over the side of his chair and pulled out a small box. "Now this has been in our family for generations, when my grandfather passed it down to my father, and when he passed it down to me. Now I am passing it down to you." He said, scooting the box across the table. Nova blinked and looked at the box. He opened up the box and saw a old dagger. The dagger had two golden protrusions on each side of the blade with a pearl in the middle of the dagger. He lifted the dagger with his magic and slid the blade out of the sheath. He saw the words "never give up without a fight" engraved on both sides of the blade. Nova slid it back into the sheath and looked at dad.
"Ar-are you sure that you want to give this to me dad?" Nova asked, sounding unsure about this. "Yes, I am sure. I think your ready to carry it." He said.
"I, don't know what to say, but this," Nova said as he hugged his father. "Thank you dad, this is the best birthday gift ever." He said. Nova's dad chuckled and hugged Nova back. Nova released his father and got off the chair.
"Ok, I need to head back to the bridge, stay safe, all right Jonathan?" Dad said as he got off the chair. Nova nodded and grabbed the box holding the dagger with his magic.
"I will dad." Nova said. Dad nodded and headed back to the bridge. Nova exited the cafeteria a few minutes later and headed back to his room. As he headed back, he whistled a catchy tune from a old band that he liked on YouTube. He saw other ponies and people fix panels, doors, and other electrical appliances that wasn't working or had malfunctioned. He made it to his room and entered it. He set the box down next to his candy stash. He got up on his bed and grabbed a old photograph picture of him, his father, and his mother. As he looked at this picture, tears started to appear in his eyes.
"I... I miss you mother." Nova said as a tear hit the picture. He hugged the picture as tears fell down his muzzle. He puts the picture back on the table next to his bed and wiped the tears from his muzzle. As he was about to get off his bed, the whole starship shook horribly, knocking Nova off his bed and onto the floor.
A asteroid has hit the ship, I repeat, a asteroid has hit the ship. The guidance system has malfunctioned and the ship is drifting into a asteroid belt. Please evacuate the starship, i repeat, please evacuate the starship.
"That's dad's voice!" Nova yells. Nova quickly grabbed the biggest bag he could find in his room and put everything he needed, his candy stash, his photo of his family, his father's gift, some of his modified clothes that can fit his pony body, and other important stuff. After he checked his room to make sure that he wasn't forgetting anything he slung the bag over his body and ran out of the room, just as the ship shook violently again, causing Nova to stumble. He took a quick peek out side the view port window and saw big rocks whizzing by at fast speeds. Nova quickened his pace and ran towards the special escape pods ment for him and his father. As he reached the escape pods, the ship shook again. He quickly got in, set his bag down and activated the escape pod. The escape pod shot out of the ship, causing Nova to be pressed against the seat. As he shot out of the ship he speed away far from the asteroids as possible. When he was far enough away he turned the thrusters off and spun the escape pod around and gasped. Nova saw asteroid after asteroid hit the ship. He turned on the ships holo communicator and he saw his dad pop up.
"Dad, get out of there!" Nova yells. "I know, but we need to get this ship out of the asteroid belt. Turn that gear the other way! Son, stay out there until we can get this ship out of the asteroid belt. And son," Nova's dad said, sounding out of breath.
"Yes dad?" Nova asked. "I love you son. No! Put that over GAAAAAH!-" the transition cut off and Nova looked up, only to see a massive explosion, caused by a massive asteroid, destroy the ship.
"DAAAAAAAD!!!!" Nova screamed. As the explosion cleared, Nova pressed the button to his communicator. "Dad, come in dad," he said, releasing the button. Nothing but static came through. He pressed the button again. "Dad, come in dad, please." He said again. Nothing but static again. Tears appear on Nova's face as he realised that his dad, was dead.
"D-dad, n-n-n-no. No! NOOOOO!!" He screams as he cries into his hooves. His ear flicked when he heard some sort of beeping. He looked up and saw a green light flash in front of him. He pushes the green button and a hologram of his father appears. "Dad! I am so glad that your-" he began, smiling
"Son, if your hearing this, then that means that I am gone." the hologram said. Nova's smile faltered when he realised that he was not listening to his father, but his will. Tears started to appear on his face again.
"Son, I want to tell you, that I am so proud of you, especially when you underwent ponification. You made me so proud that day, becoming the first pegacorn ever recorded in ponification history. I shall never forget that day. Now, let's get on with this. First off, I would like to make you the captain of the Hermes," as soon as the hologram said that, the insignia on Nova's clothes changed from being the captain's son, to captain.
"Second, I would like to give you my war medals, inside your bag the next you open it, you will find a box containing my medals, including my purple heart medal. Now I know that you don't know what to do with these, but please, take really good care of them. They are my prized collection. And finally, I want to tell you that, when we returned home, I was going to under go ponification. I was going to join you once we got back, but know that will never happen. Before this will ends, I want to say that I am so proud of you. Remember our motto: 'don't go into things yourself, but your friends will lead you far." The hologram will ended there and Nova had tears running down his face as he cried in his hooves again. He activated the escape pod thrusters and flew off in a direction. Nova cried for a while before he fell asleep. As he slept he dreamed of the amusement park again. He didn't know why, but he felt happy. Just as the fireworks went off again he saw the flash of light again. He squinted and saw the pony in the light again, but this time more clearly. He could see that this pony was also a pegacorn.
"Who are you!?" He yells at the pony. But before the pony could speak, he was woken up immediately by the escape pod blaring a alarm, telling him that he was entering a planet's atmosphere. He quickly saw a planet that looked like earth in front of him. Nova's hoofs were a blur as he pushed buttons to activate the escape pods landing sequence. But just as the flaps deployed to move the ship through the air of the planet, they where sheared off by speed he was going through the atmosphere.
"Buck!" He yelled as he flew over the land. 'i'm coming in too hot!' He thought as he looked out the escape pods window. He saw a old rustic like village with what looked like a Crystal castle fly below him. Nova calculated that he will crash into the hill just outside the town. He tried to pulled up on the controls, but the ground was too close.
"Well, buck!" Was the last thing he said before the pod crashed into the ground, causing him to launch forward and slam his muzzle into the control board, knocking him unconscious.
"As you can see Princess Celestia," a purple alicorn by the name of Twilight Sparkle said as she led Princess Celestia and Princess Luna through her castle. "We are ready for nightmare night this week, Pinkie pie has the decorations at ready, Rainbow dash, I don't know what she will be doing, Rarity will be busy with some of the costume work, Fluttershy will be taking care of the animals, and AppleJack will bring her famous apples for the Apple bobbing game." Twilight said as they entered the castles balcony.
"That is good news Twilight, and I am sure that-" Princess Celestia sudden looked up.
"What's wrong Preincess?" Twilight asked, looking up in confusion.
"Yes, sister, what is troubling you?" Luna asked. Princess Celestia looked around the sky as if she was scanning it. "Somethings coming. I sense a massive amount of magic heading this way." She said. Twilight looked around, then she sensed it, the magic that Celestia felt and her eyes widen.
"Its... it's massive! it feels like there's more magic than you or me heading this way!" She said. Suddenly there was a quick flash of light and she saw something on fire heading towards ponyville. She did some calculations and figured out that it was going to hit the hill next to ponyville. "It's going to hit that hill over there, next to the everfree!" She yelled, pointing a hoof over at a hill. The flaming object flew over the castle of breakneck speeds, causing the three alicorns to stumble. Then the object slammed into the ground and twilight saw a small plume of dirt fly up into the air and a small tremor going through the town. Spike suddenly ran onto the balcony.
"What was that!?" He yelled, looking scared and worried.
"I don't know, but it could be trouble. Go and get the others and tell them to meet me by the crash site, ok?" Twilight said. Spike nodded and ran off. Twilight than looked at Celestia, who seemed to stare off at the crash site. "Princess Celestia, shall we get going to the crash site?" Twilight asked. Celestia looked at twilight and nodded. The three of them jumped off the balcony and flew towards the crash site. But something was bothering Luna.
'This presence, it's familiar. It's like I've felt it before In a dream.' She thought, then it came to her. 'That's it! Could it be, could it be that alicorn from that unknown dream that I've been watching for a couple of days.' She pondered the thought.
"Where here." Celestia said as she landed near the crater. Twilight landed next their celestia and Luna next.
"Twilight! Princesses!" A familiar voice yelled. Twilight turned around and saw her friends running towards her.
"Good, your all here." Celestia said. Pinkie was looking right at the crater with amazement.
"Oooooh, I wonder what could be down there!" She yelled. "Oooh, there could be space ponies down there. Oh I hope they like parties, oooh and cake! I hope they know how to dance as well, I wonder if space ponies can eat cake, or dance, maybe they have antennas in their mmmph" Applejack shoved her hoof In pinkie's mouth.
"Sugercube, now's not the time, all right?" Applejack said. Pinkie nodded and Applejack took her hoof out.
"If there are aliens down there, I am going to kick their butts!" Rainbow Dash said.
"But if their friendly, th-then that will make us the bad ponies." Fluttershy squeaked.
"I hope they know some fashion." Rarity said. Everypony looked at her with a deadpan look. "What! I need new ideas!" She huffed.
"If there are aliens down there, this could be a scientific discovery! We'll be able to learn new things about them, know that there is life outside our planet! oooh I am getting fidgety about this!" Twilight said, just as part of her mane became frazzled.
"Be careful, we don't know what we're dealing with, it could be dangerous. So stay on your guard." Princess Celestia said. The group nodded and they made their way down towards the crash site. As they made their way down, some of the animals that where around, scattered from the crash site in fear. Fluttershy saw this and gulped. As they reached the bottom, they saw a big metal thing.
"What... what is that thing?" Spike asked. Twilight slowly stepped towards the metal object. She looked around and saw bits and pieces of metal on the ground as well, which meant that this object is damaged.
"Twilight, please be careful. We don't know what this think is. It could hurt you." Celestia said.
"It's damaged, I don't think it will hurt anypony, if it can." Twilight pointed out. As she went around the front, her eyes widen, the front had glass, which was cracked and broken in some places. She could see smoke pour out from inside.
CRACK, HISS
Twilight jumped back at the noise, and gasped as the glass started to rise. All the smoke flew out, and started to clear. As the smoke cleared, twilight stepped closer as well as her friends and the princesses. She gasped again at what she saw what was inside the metal object. Inside the object, was a alicorn! She saw the alicorn eyes, which were like twin suns look at her, but she could see pain in them.
"Help...me..." the alicorn said, before it's head flopped down and the alicorn lost consciousness.
Twilight, her friends, and the princesses gasp at the alicorn. Princess Celestia's horn glowed as she check the alicorns body. Her eyes widen.
"He needs medical attention, now!" She yelled as she lifts the alicorn out.
"Wait, he!?" Rainbow Dash said. Princess Celestia nodded. Twilight saw something out of the corner of her eye and saw a bag of some sort. She lifted it with her magic and was surprised to see that it was heavy. She saw a name on the bag. Nova Gear was what was written on the bag. She looked at the alicorn.
"I found a bag that has his name on it, princess." Twilight said. Princess Celestia looked and nodded. "Bring it, he may want it when he wakes up." She said. Twilight nodded, and Princess Celestia's horn glowed and in a flash of light, they were at ponyville hospital. The receptionist gasped at what she sees. Princess Celestia talked with the receptionist and she nodded. Immediately, doctor and nurse ponies came in with a stretcher and looked the unconscious alicorn away.
"Wait, this bag is his. He may want it when he wakes up." Twilight said. One of the unicorn nurses nodded and took the bag with her magic, then followed the doctors.
"I hope he wakes up soon, cause he will have some explaining to do." Twilight said. Princess Celestia nodded the looked a little worried.
"That's if he wakes up." She said. Twilight looked at her and blinked. "What?" She asked.
"As I checked his body, he had a heavy heart, like he didn't want to live anymore. I could tell that he lost something, something very important to him. Something I have felt as well when I lost Luna to nightmare moon." Celestia sighed.
"I just hope he wakes up." Twilight said again.
"We just have to wait and see, only time will tell." Celestia said.
"The Ponyville medical center." The nurse said. Nova gear moves his head towards the voice. His vision blurry.
"Ponyville?" He asked.
"Yes...we heard the ones who discovered you, found you in some...thing, they didn't know what. But you were inside, barely alive. They rushed you here as fast as they could...I'm nurse Red Heart. What is your name?" She asked.
"Nova gear." He said. His vision clears and he sees nurse Red Heart.
"Well, I've never heard such a name before! But then again, what can you expect when everypony has a unique name of their own." Red Heart said. She smiled slightly as she removed the cold compress from his head, which wasn't so cold since its been there for about an hour. "How do you feel?" She asked.
"Sore, tired, and somewhat in pain." Nova said.
"Well, you've got a broken right foreleg, a few ribs completely snapped in half, possibly a slight concussion, a few torn and sprained muscles, and severe blood loss. The blood loss came from being impaled through the right side of your abdomen by some metal shaft thing. In other words, you're pretty banged up and lucky to even be alive!" She said. Nova's eyes widen.
"I never knew it was going to be that bad, and I have been through bad stuff." He said.
"It's quite incredible if you ask me. Nopony has ever survived injuries like yours!" Red Heart said. She let out a sigh. "It was so stressful...I have never taken on a case like yours. I've never had somepony else's blood on my hooves before, yet I found myself with three other doctors sitting her for four hours trying to save your life." She said. She stares at her hoofs. "I didn't know the first thing to do...nobody did." She said. Nova goes through a coughing fit. Nurse Red Heart trots over to the sink where she grabs a plastic cup from one of the cupboards and fills it with water from the sink before trotting back.
"Here. Have some water." She said. She gave him the cup and yawned loudly, struggling to keep her eyes open. Nova gear grabs the cup with his magic and drinks it all.
"Thank you." He said. Red Heart's head drooped as she nodded.
"I'm so tired..." She said.
"You should probably get some rest." Nova said.
"I can't. I'm on duty. I was up so late...saving your life..." She said.
"And I am grateful for it. But do you have another doctor that can look after me while you get some rest?" He asked. Red Heart shakes her head.
"They're all busy trying to catch up on the other patients after half of us were dealing with you. Need anything? You must be hungry." She asked.
"I see. And I am hungry, but I don't know what you serve." He said.
"Food." She giggled. Nova gear sighs with irritation.
"Then I will have that." He said.
"Do uh...pancakes and eggs sound good?" Red Heart asked. Nova gear nods.
"Yes, that sounds good please." He said. Red Heart yawns.
"Alright. I'll get you some from the," She yawns in the middle of the the sentence. "Cafeteria." She finished. She smacked her lips before heading out the door, first missing and hitting the wall. Nova gear slightly laughs at that.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Sorry...just really sleepy..." She said. She groaned and walked out of the room. Nova gear looks around the room, taking in the new sights. She returns a while later with a plate of food. "Here you are." She said. She set the plate down on his lap. Nova gear starts to eat.
"Thank you." He said.
"N-no...problem..." Red Heart stuttered. She suddenly fell forward onto the floor and soon began snoring. Nova looks around and sees a blanket on the chair. He uses his magic to cover Nurse Red Heart with the blanket.
"There you go. You needed to rest." He said. He continues to eat. There was a knocking at the door. Nova looks at the door.
"Come in." He said. The door opens and six ponies walks in. Nova tilts his head.
"Um, hello." He said. He saw what looked like a unicorn at first until he saw the wings at her side was the first to enter, followed by the six others. He saw a tall pegacorn come in last after the other five. He could tell that she had power radiating off of her, which ment that she was in charge.
"Um, hi. I'm Twilight Sparkle. These are my friends, Princess Celestia, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy." The purple pegacorn said. Each of the ponies took their turn to give a slight wave upon hearing their name being called. Nova gives a slight wave with his left fore hoof, but winced slightly at the pain.
"Hello, my name is Nova Gear." He said.
"We know that." Twilight said.
"If I may ask, are you even from Equestria? Me and my sister Luna saw you falling from the sky in some sort of pod." The tall pegacorn, who he assumed to be Celestia, asked. Nova shakes his head.
"No, I'm not from Equestria. In fact, I'm not from this world at all. And that pod you saw, was called a escape pod." He said.
"Then how is it you're a pony? And an alicorn at that?" Celestia asked.
"Alicorn? That's what it's called? We've been calling it pegacorn. And the reason why I am a alicorn, is that before, I wasn't a pony. And if I may ask, where is my clothing?" Nova asked.
"Burnt and torn to shreds in the wreckage!" Pinkie pie said. She smiles wide, along with that little duck quack. Nova looks down with a sad look.
"I see." He said. He looks around and sees his bag and smiles that it's unharmed. "At least that's not harmed." He said.
"What's in it?" Celestia asked.
"What I have left from my father's starship. Some clothes, my candy stash, a photograph of my family, my family's heirloom, and a model of my father's starship." He said.
"Who's your father? You said you came in an escape pod...so...did something happen on the ship?" Twilight asked. Nova looks down with a sad look again. A tear falls from his face.
"It's gone." He sniffed.
"Awe, what happened?" She asked.
"Sugarcube, I think it's best we save those questions for later. He just woke up from near death and all, so Ah don't think he's ready to be bombarded with that stuff." Applejack said.
"Oh, you're right." Twilight said as blushes from embarrassment. Another tear falls from Nova's face as he sniffs. He uses his magic to levitate his bag close to him. He hugs it as he mutters.
"I think it's best we leave him be for now." Celestia said. She turns and walks out of the door and soon the others follows.
"Sorry about your father." Applejack said. Nova doesn't say anything, but continues to mutter. Applejack opens her forelegs for a hug. Nova sniffs as more tears fall from his face. He looks at Applejack with a look of deep sadness. Applejack hugs him.
"I know what losing your father feels like...Ah lost mine when Ah was just a filly..." She said. Nova tries his best to hug back as tears streamed down his face.
"It was the hardest thing in mah life to go through." She sniffed. She teared up as well, and soon began crying along with Nova. Twilight peeks back into the room and was about to say something but only closed the door instead.
"He... could have made it." Nova said.
"Ah'm sure he was a great stallion." She said.
"I... I think I'm ready to tell you guys how it happened." He said. Applejack wipes her tears.
"Are you sure?" She asked. Nova gear nods.
"Yes, I need to get this off my back, or else it will make me feel more terrible." He said.
"How about you tell me, an Ah'll tell them. This room is too small to be crowded and with your injuries you need your space." She said.
"Before I awoke here, I was on my father's starship, the Hermes. It was quite a fast starship, one of the fast ones. It was full of humans and ponies. One day, I was talking with my father, who was a human. He said that he was so proud of me. When he left for the bridge, I left for my room, when the ship shook violently." He said.
"And then what?" She asked.
"I looked out a view port window and saw asteroids hitting the ship. I quickly grab my bag, which is what I have here. And ran for the special escape pods for me and my father. I got in and activated the escape pod. I got out of the ship and saw more asteroids hit it. I saw a massive asteroid hit the ship, near it's engines, causing it to explode, k-killing my father and the crew." Nova said.
"I'm so sorry to hear that.. Maybe he got out too?" Applejack asked. Nova shakes his head.
"He didn't. Because his automated will came on. And that only comes when... when someone died. And... that's not the worst part." He said.
"I'm so sorry." She said. Nova looks down.
"Today... today is my birthday." He said.
"I wish I could say happy birthday, but it doesnt seem very-" Applejack began to say, but was interrupted when the door bursts open and Pinkie pie bursts into the room.
"Did somepony say it was their birthday!?" She yelled. Nova gear sighs with sadness.
"Yes..." He sighed.
"Who!?" She yelled, looking around.
"Me..." Nova said.
"Pinkie Pie I think it's best of you don't do the whole singing and shooting confetti from your party cannon and stuff this time." Applejack said. Nova sighs and hugs his bag.
"Oh, why not?" Pinkie pie asked.
"It's just best we don't. He's not in the mood for it." Applejack said. Nova looks at Pinkie pie.
"Maybe... later when I get out of the hospital." He said.
"I don't think that will be for quite some time. Maybe a week or so." Applejack said.
"But with my augmentations, I should be out of here in slightly less then a week." He said.
"Augmentations?" Twilight asked as she poked her head in.
"Yes. I was on a starship, which means advanced technology, which means augmentations. I underwent surgery and got augmented. I am stronger then any normal pony on my starship, faster then the pegasi, and am able to do very advanced magic without trouble." He said.
"If you haven't broken the sound barrier you still aren't the fastest since I did that as a filly!" Rainbow Dash said proudly.
"Actually, I did that in my father's starship training facility. I beat the other pegasi quite easily and clocked at speeds of two hundred miles per hour." He said.
"Not possible. You can't go two hundred miles per hour straight, it's just not possible. You're bluffing!" She yelled. She crosses her legs across her chest. "Nobody is faster than me!" She said.
"It's true. If I was to go into a dive, I would probably surpass that." He said.
"Balonga." She said.
"Yea, yea, yea, you weren't the only one who said that." Nova said.
"Only cuz me and this anonymous guy are right!" She yelled.
"Rainbow ah think that's enough. We haven't seen him fly, so there is no telling if we can or can't belive him." Applejack said.
"You know, uh, Rainbow Dash was it? You remind me of someone from my father's starship. He had a big ego and always acted before thinking. And from my perspective, that's what you do. Act before you think." Nova said.
"Ugh! I...I do not!" Rainbow Dash yelled.
"Sadly, Ah have to agree." Applejack said. Nova yawns.
"Come now, my little ponies. Nova Gear needs his rest." Celestia said. Nova nods and yawns again. Celestia and the others slowly walk out of the room, closing the door behind them. Nova uses his magic to place his bag back on the table next to him and closes his eyes, falling asleep a few minutes later. Nurse Red Heart slowly wakens as Nova began snoring. Nova mutters something, but continues to sleep. Red Heart grunts as she stood.
"I'm gonna be so fired if anypony knew I was sleeping..." She said as she left.
Nova gear snores slightly as a little bit of drool falls from his mouth as he slept. There were voices whispering outside of his door. He snorts as he rolls over on his side and resumes sleeping. The whispering continued for a time. Nova smacks his lips as he slowly opens his eyes. The door opens, causing him to look, and Nurse Read Heart walks in.
"I see you're awake. I don't mean to be a bother, but I have a few guests who would like to speak to you." She said. Nova tilts his head.
"Visitors? Well, let them in." He said.
"You two may come in." She said. Two stallions walked in. Both earth ponies with brown manes, but one was an orange yellow with a handle bar moustache, and the other a light blue with a monocle. Nova looks at them.
"How may I help you?" He asked.
"Yes, my name is Dr. Hoofington, and this is my college, Dr. Swartch. We are here to simply ask a few questions, laddy." The blue one spoke up. Nova nods.
"Go ahead." He said.
"How old are you, lad?" Dr. Swartch asked.
"I'm 17." Nova said.
"Ah! So you are a minor. I hear you aren't exactly from Equestria, and you've made peace with Celestia. Now that you are here, and a minor without a home, we'll need you to fill out this form." Dr. Hoofington said. He gave Nova a small packet of papers, held together by a single staple in the corner. "Just sign your name, age, date of birth, and things like that in the marked areas." He said. Nova gear does what he was told.
"This is to let us know that when you are discharged from the hospital, you will be staying at the orphanage." Swartch said.
"We're not sure if you're alright with that, but it's how things work." Hoofington said. Nova's eyes widen.
"Wait, what!" He yells.
"We can't let you be roaming the streets on your own homeless." Hoofington said.
"W-we are sorry if you don't exactly agree with this, but it's what needs to be done. " Swartch said, looking slightly nervous. Nova looks down and sighs.
"As soon as you are discharged, we'll be back to pick you up." Swartch said.
"We wish you the best of health," Hoofington looks at the signed form. "Mr. Nova Gear." He finished. Nova doesn't say anything.
"Sorry to bother you." Hoofington said. He gets up and leaves along with Swartch. Nurse Red Heart sighs.
"I know this must be hard on you. I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel..." She said. Nova still doesn't say anything and continues to look down as a tear falls from his face.
"Awe, don't cry..." She said, hugging him. He hugs back as more tears fall.
"It will be okay. I promise." She said. Nova sniffs.
"Thank you." He said. Nurse Red Heart nuzzles him.
"Now anything you need?" She asked. His stomach growls.
"Same thing as yesterday?" She asked. Nova nods.
"I would like that." He said. Red Heart smiled.
"Alright then." She said. She trots out of the room. Nova sighs as he looks around. The only sounds to be heard in the room were the ambience of the beeping heart monitor, and his slightly heavy breathing. He leans back and stares at the ceiling. He thought only of his father, since that was all he could think of. He felt selfish for leaving without his father, and had paid the price by watching him die, right before his eyes. A tear streamed down his face and cheek. Now he finds himself here, unable to get out of bed, with casts on his right foreleg and both hind legs, and his neck, soon to be shipped off to some orphanage home.
"I'm sorry...father. I... should have stayed." He muttered. Nurse Red Heart walks back in.
"Here you go! Hot and fresh!" She said as she set the plate down on Nova's lap. Nova sits up. "Enjoy!" She said. She nuzzled him and trotted out of the room. Nova eats in silence. Celestia appears at the door with Luna.
"May we come in?" She asked. Nova looks at her.
"Yes..." He said.
"If it isn't too much trouble, my sister, Luna would like to meet you." She said. They both stepped into the room.
"Yes, what is it that you would like to meet about?" He asked.
"My sister has told me a little bit about you and how you arent exactly from Equestria, and my interest had been peaked, so I asked if she could bring me to see you." Celestia said. Nova looks at Luna.
"So it was you that I've seen in my dreams." He said. Luna nods.
"It's nice to meet you face to face." She said, smiling.
"Ever since I saw you in my dreams, I always wondered who it was." He said.
"Tia also explained how you wound up here, and for that I am ever so sorry." She said. Nova looks down.
"I should have stayed with him." He said.
"No, you would have died as well..." She said. Nova sniffs.
"I have no one now. I have no family..." He said. Luna exchanges worried glances with Celestia. Nova starts to cry.
"Hey now, don't cry..." Luna said.
"He's lost everything, Luna. He needs to get it out of his system..." Celestia said. Luna sighs. Nova cries hard as he remembers everything. Luna gets on the bed with him and holds him close. He hugs and cries against Luna.
"Shh, now. It'll be alright." Luna said. She stroked a hoof along his mane, humming softly. He slowly stops crying until he is only sniffing. Luna smiles.
"There you go. Can you give me a smile?" She asked.
"I...I cant. Because...because I am going to be shipped off to some orphanage." He said.
"Oh, that's never fun..." She sighed. "Please try to be happy, though, okay?" She asked.
"I...I will try..." Nova said.
"Good." Luna said, hugging him tighter.
"Sorry for my silence, since Luna appears to have it covered." Celestia said. Nova wipes the tears from his face.
"Thank you. I... I needed to get that out." He said.
"I...I know this may seem sudden, but what if I were to adopt you? I know I'm not fit to be a mother, nor would I expect you to think of me as such, but just to keep you out of that place." Luna said. Celestia looked quite surprised.
"Are you sure about this, Luna? He would legally be your responsibility, and," She began.
"And you're gonna lock me away if I mess up?" Luna interrupted. "Celestia, We've been through a lot, I think I can take care of a child!" She yelled.
"I guess you do have a point. But it's up to him if he wants you to adopt him." Celestia said. Nova's eyes widen.
"Are... are you sure? I don't want to be a problem and be a distraction." He said.
"The moment I walked in, I was heartbroken to see you like this, and to see you cry, knowing you have lost everything, I can't see myself letting you go to that orphanage. I want to adopt you, Nova." Luna said.
"I... I don't know what to say, except this. I accept your offer." He said. Luna smiles and hugs him.
"I'll have the hospital discharge you and we can tell the orphanage I'm adopting you, and we can go home where I will take care of you." She said.
"That is very generous of you, Luna. I'll go fetch Nurse Red Heart." Celestia said. She got up and left the room.
"But it may take a while for me to get used to it." Nova said.
"That's just fine." Luna said. She nuzzled his cheek. Nova smiles and hugs back. Luna still holds him.
"I hope this isn't making you uncomfortable." She said. Celestia comes back with Nurse Red Heart.
"So, Luna decided to adopt you already? And she's requested you a discharged from the hospital, which I have taken care of already." Nurse Red Heart said. She pulled in a wheelchair from the hallway. Luna used her magic to levitate Nova onto it.
"Thank you kindly, nurse." Luna said. Nova uses his magic to levitate his bag and sets it on his lap.
"Thanks again, nurse." Celestia said.
"No problem!" Nurse Red Heart said. She smiled as Celestia teleported herself, Luna, and Nova out of the room and into her's and Luna's bedroom.
"Well, here's the bedroom." Luna said, giggling. Nova's mouth drops open wide as he looks around. There were white pillars along the purple painted walls around the room, a large arched grid window door which led out to a balcony, and a bed to either side. One had a yellow blanket and pillow with the image of a sun on them, with the other bed was a bit smaller, and had blue and purple covers and a pillow with the image of the moon. The floor seemed to be made of white marble, and decorative plants were spread about the room, giving it a vibrancy of colors.
"This is where me and Tia sleep, and there's a guest wings just down the hall where your room will be! Shall I show you?" Luna asked. Nova was still in surprise and couldn't say anything, but nods.
"Wanna go slow or fast?" Luna asked asked as she wheeled him out of the room.
"It doesn't matter. It's up to you." He said.
"Well, yeah, but I want my son to choose." She said, giggling a little.
"I guess we can go slow, because of my condition." He said.
"Alright." She said. She pushed him along at a walking pace, nuzzling his cheek as she did. As Luna pushed Nova, he looked around amazed at how beautiful the place is. He was going to look at Luna, when he heard the sound of clopping hooves running towards them. He saw a white unicorn with a blonde mane come towards them.
"Luna! I need your he-" The unicorn stopped talking as soon as he sees Nova gear. "Uh, who is he?" He asked.
"My son. I adopted him just moments ago, I'm taking him to see his room." Luna said.
"Well, um...that's...unusual..." The unicorn said. From what Nova could hear, he was a snooty pony.
"Like the wine on your suit?" She asked.
"That's exactly what I needed to talk to you about!" The unicorn said. Luna sighs.
"You should know how to work the washer, Blueblood." She said. Nova snorts with laughter at the sight.
"No, it's just-" Blueblood began to say.
"No? You mean you've suddenly forgotten how to use the washer?" Luna interrupted.
"My servants spilled this on me!" He yells.
"They're your servants. Your problem. Not mine. What'd you expect? For me to baby you and wash your clothes for you?" She asked. Nova couldn't hold himself as he bursts into laughter. Blueblood huffs, his cheeks turning red from anger.
"You are so impossible to talk to!" He yells, stomping off. Luna giggles.
"I love to mess with him. He's cute when he's angry." She said. Nova comes to a heavy breathing as he tried to catch his breath.
"I've...seen his...kind before. The snooty type." He said.
"Exactly!" She said as she ruffles Nova's mane. Nova smiles as he looks at Luna. Luna smiles back and wheels him into a room half the size of her's and Celestia's. There was still a balcony, and a bed large enough for two average sized ponies.
"I know it isn't much, but it's your to decorate how you please." She said. Nova nods.
"Thank you." He said. Luna levitates Nova into his bed. He sets his bag next to him as he lays down.
"I...I was wondering...if if maybe you'd want me to stay here and hold you again?" She asked, blushing. Nova nods.
"I don't mind." He said. She smiled and got on the bed and opened her forelegs for Nova. Nova hugs her.
"Thank you, Luna. I wouldn't have known what to do if I was sent to the orphanage." He said.
"I saw how stressed you were, and I just couldn't let that happen." She said, smiling. "I still remember what you looked like when you were a little boy." She said.
"Yea, that was... that was before I lost my mother." Nova said, looking down.
"I wish I could have done something, but all I could do was watch over you, I've been watching over you since the day you were born. I just felt this strange connection, and didn't know really what it was. So up until now, I've been watching over you." She said. She began to tear up. "I saw the ship explode too, and your face when it happened." She sniffed as a tear slid down her cheek. "I'm just glad to know you're alive." She said. Nova wipes the tear away and hugs her.
"If only I was on that ship, I could have just teleported everyone out of there...but all I could do was watch..." She said, hugging Nova tighter. "Even if it meant the end of me, I would have tried to save your father." She said. Nova sniffs as a tear falls from his face.
"I miss him." He said.
"I know. I know you do." Luna said, kissing him on the head. Nova wipes the tears from his face.
"I... I would like to walk around when I'm feeling a little bit better. If it's ok with you." He said.
"Of course, Nova. Now, I know I adopted you and all, you don't have to go referring to me as your mother or anything. It would be flattering, but I'm not gonna make you. I hope you get better soon." She said. He smiles.
"Thank you." He said.
"I love you, Nova." She said. She held him still, gently stroking his mane. "I have since you were born." She said.
"I love you too. Thanks for helping me." He said.
"I will assume you are still tired, and maybe you'd want me to leave so you can nap?" She asked. Nova yawns.
"Yea, I could use a nap." He said.
"If you want I shall stay to comfort you." Luna said.
"I would like that." He said. Luna smiles.
"Alright, now sleep, my child." She said. Nova closes his eyes and soon falls asleep. Luna falls asleep as well. Celestia peeks into the room and smiles at the sight.
"Sleep well, you two." She said. She left and closed the door.
A few hours later
Nova gear has a smile as he slept. Luna laid awake, still holding Nova, wishing she could just take his pain. Nova yawns as he slowly opens his eyes. Luna smiles lightly.
"Wakey wakey!" She said, giggling. "Celestia made supper, so would you like to join us in the dining hall?" She asked. Nova yawns again as he nods.
"I would like that." He said. Luna levitated Nova back into the wheelchair and began to push him out of the room. Nova looks around at the beautifully made columns and widows of the castle. She nuzzles Nova's cheek.
"It's a blessing to me to have you here, Nova." She said.
"And the same for you to adopt me." He said.
"Anytime." She said. She kisses his cheek as the enter the dining hall. Nova looks around in amazement.
"We've got tons of everything so just pick what you want." Luna said. Nova sees a plate of pancakes and hash browns. He uses his magic to levitate some on a plate and levitates the plate to himself. Luna moves the chair next to hers out of the way, and pushes Nova into its spot. She then sat down and served herself some food. Nova could see that Twilight was sitting across from Luna.
"Um, Luna...who is he?" She asked.
"He's going to be staying with us. Luna adopted him." Celestia said. Luna nods and hugs Nova. Nova looks at Twilight.
"You don't remember me from the hospital, Twilight?" He asked.
"Of course I do! I was hoping to get a laugh or two out of you since you've been so stressed." She said. Nova suddenly had and itch on the side of his barrel. He uses his free hoof to scratch it, only to yelp in pain.
"Ow!" He yells. Luna gasps.
"Nova, are you alright?" She asked as she looks at him worried. Nova looks at where he scratched and sees stitches running alongside his barrel.
"That must be why. " She said, hugging him. Nova hugs back.
"It'll be okay." She said.
"Awe, that's cute. I feel like you're mothering him." Twilight said. Luna blushes, but only hugs tighter.
"That was the idea." She said. She kisses Nova on the head. "I've known him since he was a baby." She said. Nova takes deep breaths.
"Nova, honey, are you alright?" She asked. Nova nods.
"Yes." He said. Luna sighs in relief.
"Don't scare me like that!" She said.
"Nova, I think you've got a good caretaker on your hooves." Twilight said, smiling at Luna.
"Yeah...caretaker..." Luna said, shrugging.
"You'll be a great mother, Luna." Nova said.
"I can't be mother...I'm not fit for it..." She said.
"You obviously care for this boy, and since you've known him his whole life, I'm sure you'll be fine." Celestia said.
"I'm just his caretaker..." Luna said.
"Luna, you adopted me. That makes you my mother. I'm sure that you will do great taking care of me." Nova said.
"Adoptive mother..." She said, looking down.
"Hey, get a hold of yourself Luna. You adopted me, that makes you my mother. Now don't be sad and look on the bright side, you have a son." He said.
"You...think of me as your m-mom?" Luna asked. She looked at Nova with watery eyes. Nova nods.
"Yes, I do." He said. Luna hugs him tight.
"I promise to be the best mother ever!" She said. Nova hugs back.
"I know you will." He said.
"I love you, Nova." She said.
"I love you too, mom." He said. Luna smiles and sheds a tear.
"Awww." Celestia and Twilight said. Nova smiles. Luna kisses Nova on the head.
"Now let's eat, shall we?" She asked. Nova nods.
"Yep!" He said. Luna smiles as she eats. Nova smiles as he eats as well.
"I can't believe I have a son..." She said.
"Well, he's right here!" Twilight said. Nova laughs. Luna blushes.
"What's so funny..." She asked.
"Your expression." He said.
"Oh, heh heh." She said. She looks at Nova with a smile. "At least you're happy now...right?" She asked. Nova nods.
"Yep!" He said.
"I plan to keep it that way. Now what shall we do as our first thing as mother and son after breakfast?" She asked.
"Well, I can try and walk, if that's fine." He said.
"I know that, but I was talking about something fun! Maybe fishing! Guys like that!" She said.
"I guess I could give it a try, I haven't gone fishing in a while." He said.
"Yay!" She yelled, hugging Nova. He hugs back.
"Now I have to give you an embarrassing nickname." Luna said. Nova's eyes widen.
"No, please, anything but that!" He said. Luna giggles.
"How about My wittle Novie Wovie!" She said as she plays with his cheeks. Twilight giggles.
"That would be pretty embarrassing." She said.
"I think it's cute!" Celestia said. Nova gear groans in irritation. Luna hugs him. He sighs as he hugs her back. Luna giggles.
"I won't call you that when we're around others, okay?" She asked.
"Thank you." He said. Luna nuzzles him.
"No problem." She said. She sighs happily and hugs tighter. "I'm glad to be your mother." She said.
"I glad as well." He said.
"Now lets finish eating." She said. Nova nods.
"Let's." He said. Nova grins slyly.
"On my father's starship, I had the Nick name 'Black Hole' because I could never stop eating and I was quite fast at it too." He said. Luna giggles and whispers in his ear.
"Novie Wovie the black hole!" She whispered. Nova facehoofs.
"Now, we start in 3...2..1...GO!" She yelled. She pretty much shoved her face into her plate, quickly sucking down its contents. Nova does the same thing but with more ferocity, practically eating everything whole, except the plate. And finishes in a couple of seconds. He burps loudly. Luna finishes mere seconds after Nova.
"Well, you sir are a worthy opponent, but you cannot defeat NIGHTMARE MOOOOOON!!!" She yelled. She changed suddenly, and in a few seconds, she had sucked up everything in existence. She burped slightly. "Excuse mwah." She said. Nova bursts into laughter. Luna stared at the surrounding, or the lack thereof, since they were now floating in space.
"Uh...lemme fix this..." She said. Her horn lit, and with a pop, everything turned back to normal. "So... I WIN!" She yelled. Luna cheered as she changed back to normal. "How many points do I receive!?" She yelled.
"From my perspective, all of them. And if I may ask, what was that?" Nova asked.
"What was what?" She asked.
"That other form you changed into." He said. Luna looks away.
"Oh...I don't really like explaining that..." She said.
"Don't beg her either." Celestia said.
"Oh, uh, okay, I won't ask if you don't want to talk about it." He said.
"Now, how about we go fishing!?" Luna yelled. Nova nods and slowly gets out of the wheelchair.
"Be careful!!" She yelled. She helps him stand. Nova grabs Luna and slowly stands to full height.
"Thank you." He said.
"No problem. I don't want my little boy falling down on me." She said.
"Well, I wouldn't call myself little." He chuckles. He looks down at Luna.
"True, true, but you're still my little boy!" She said, nuzzling his neck. Nova smiles. Luna looks up at him smiling.
"Think you can walk." She asked.
"I think I can." He said.
"If you fall over, you're grounded." She said, giggling. Nova chuckles.
"Okay." He said. He slowly limps forward, his legs shaking from not walking for a while. Luna stays at his side to support him. Nova slowly but surely, he limps normally. Suddenly his legs gave out and he falls. Luna catches him.
"That's one week." She said. She giggles and helps him up. "I'm just kidding" She said.
"Sorry, my legs fell asleep from not moving in a while." He said. Luna smiles.
"It's to be expected, honey." She said. He slowly walks again, slower this time. "Novei Wovie." She said, giggling. Nova notices other ponies stare at him. He ignores them as he stretches his wings.
"I've always wanted a son, you know." Luna said. Nova looks at her.
"And I always wanted a mom." He said.
"Well, no I'm your mom, and you my son." She said. She kisses his cheek. "And I love you very much, Nova." She said.
"I love you too, mom." He said. He was about to say something else, but he bumps into a pony, causing him to fall. He looks at who he bumped into and sees that it was Blueblood. Blueblood grunts.
"Watch where you're going!" He yells.
"Hey, you can't yell at my son!" Luna said.
"You ADOPTED him! He is NOT your son!" He yells. Nova stands up and towers over Blueblood. He leans in close to him.
"What did you say?" He asked.
"You. Are NOT. Luna's. SON!" Blueblood yells. Nova gear unfolds his wings and has a pissed off look.
"How, DARE YOU!!!" He yells so loud, that it shakes the entire castle. "YOU DARE SAY THAT LUNA IS NOT MY MOTHER AFTER SHE ADOPTED ME!!!" He yells, leaning in closer to Blueblood.
"I dont dare, profane child. It is the truth!" Blueblood yells.
"Blueblood, I expect you out of the castle immediately." Luna said.
"Mutanny! That this is!! Mutanny!" He yells before storming off. Luna sighs and tightly hugs Nova.
"I'm sorry, he's quite stuck up...please dont let him get you down. You will always be my son." She said. Nova starts to go through a coughing fit.
"Man, that hurts the voice." He said in a dry raspy voice. He hears hooves coming towards them. He looks and sees Celestia and Twilight running towards them.
"What happened, we heard yelling!" Celestia said. Luna was softly crying as she held Nova. Nova continues to cough as he leans against Luna.
"What's wrong Luna?" Twilight and Celestia asked. Nova breaths heavily.
"Bl...Blueblood." He said.
"What did he do?" Twilight asked.
"Said Nova isn't my son..." Luna said in a shaky voice. Nova rubs his throat.
"Ow, that hurt." He said. Luna cries into Nova's chest.
"Where did he go?" Celestia asked. Nova points in the direction that Blueblood went.
"That way." He said.
"I...I know im not really your mother, but...I...I wish I was...then you wouldn't have gone through so much pain..." Luna stuttered. Celestia runs off down that hall. "I'm sorry, Nova!" Luna yells. Nova hugs Luna.
Nova gear limps alongside Luna as they walked with Luna allowing Nova to lean on her for support.
"It's a nice day out isn't it?" Luna asked. Nova nods.
"That it is." He said. Luna smiles as they walk, getting several waves and bows from other ponies.
"You're a wonderful son, did you know that?" She said.
"Yep. And your a wonderful mother." He said.
"I hope so." She said, smiling. Nova looks at her.
"Don't worry, you'll do great." He said.
"I know we just met, but do you really think of me as your mother?" Luna asked. Nova nods.
"I do." He said.
"Thanks." She said. She nuzzled him as they came to a river. Nova limps close to the river. Luna sits down and conjures up two fishing rods and a bucket of worms and gives Nova one of the rods.
"Thank you." Nova said. He uses his magic to levitate one of the worms onto the hook and tosses the hook into the water. Luna smiles and nods before throwing hers into the river. Nova flops down next to his rod and relaxes.
"No. We came to fish, now fish!" Luna said, giggling. "Or you're grounded!" She said. She smiles and sits Nova back up and hugs him. "I love you Nova." She said. Nova hugs back.
"I love you too, mom." He said.
"I won't ground you. I can't see myself doing that." She said. Nova was about to say something when his rod begins to move.
"Hey, I got something!" He said. He grabs the rod and starts to reel it in. Two horns, one white and the other a light blue poke out of the water.
"What in the world is that?" Luna asked. Nova yanks the rod back, causing whatever he had caught to appear, but causing him to fall on his back. The creature appears.
"Discord! What are you doing in the river!?" Luna yelled.
"Taking a bath my dear." Discord said, squeaking his rubber ducky. Nova sits up, shakes his head and sees Discord.
"Gaaah! What the heck are you!" He yells.
"A dracenequs..." Discord said. Nova raises a eyebrow.
"A...what?" He asked.
"A mix a several animals." Discord said.
"Ahh, ok. It's just that I've never seen anything like you before." Nova said.
"So who's the new alicorn?" Discord asked.
"My son." Luna said.
"WHAT!? You never told me you had a child!" Discord yelled.
"I adopted him yesterday. Although it would have been nice to be the one to have given birth to him..." she said.
"Hey, it's going to be okay." Nova said.
"I hope so, Nova. I just want to make you happy." She said.
"Awe, isn't that just cute!" Discord said. Nova hugs Luna.
"I know. You'll be a great mom." He said.
"I know. I just wish I really was your mom, but just having you call me mom is good enough." She said, kissing his head. Nova smiles.
"Well, you two seem to be having a moment so I'm just gonna go." Discord said, disappearing in a flash. Luna smiles at Nova. Nova nuzzles Luna.
"Thank you. Thank you for everything." He said. Luna hugs him tight.
"That's my job as your mother. To keep you happy." She said. Nova smiles again and notices three fillies walk towards the lake. Luna didn't see as she was still hugging Nova.
"Um, who are they?" He asked. Luna turns to see the fillies.
"Oh, Applebloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo." She said. Nova looks at the fillies and waves a little hello. The fillies wave back and began playing with a red ball.
"Nova?" Luna asked. Nova looks at Luna.
"Yes?" He asked. Luna she put a hoof to his cheek.
"Some ponies may say otherwise, but no matter what you will always be my son and I will always love you. It's a blessing to have you, Nova, and I couldn't be happier." She said. She smiled as a tear fell from her eye. "Thank you for being a part of my life." She said. Nova smiles as a tear falls from his face. He hugs Luna. Luna hugs back.
"I will never stop loving you." She said.
"Same." He said.
"Now let's continue fishing, shall we, my son?" She asked. Nova nods.
"Let's." He said.
5 minutes later
Nova gear carried a bucket full of fish as they walk back. Luna nods. Nova looks up and sees a rainbow trail.
"Huh? Are we expecting anypony?" He asked.
"That's just Rainbow Dash." Luna said.
"Ah, the pegasus that acts before she thinks." He said.
"Pretty much." Luna said, giggling. Nova chuckles. Luna smiles as they walk back into the castle with a hello from the guards. Nova smiles when he looks at Luna, when he was suddenly tackled by a pink blur. Luna giggles and rolls her eyes.
"Here we go." She said.
"Do I see somepony new!?" Pinkie pie said. Nova looks at pinkie pie.
"Hello pinkie pie." He said.
"...How did you know my name, Nova?" Pinkie pie asked.
"You met me at the hospital. And even asked who's birthday it was when I said that it was mine." He said.
"I know I was just playing!" She said, nuzzling his cheek.
"Um pinkie pie, can you get off of me, I don't think my stitches would like you on me any longer." He said.
"Sorry!" She said, getting off of Nova. "So what brings you here?" She asked.
"I adopted him as my son." Luna said.
"Aweeeeeeeeeee!!!" Pinkie yelled. Nova stands up.
"Thank you. And yep, that makes Luna my mom." He said.
"That's nice! Luna did you know yesterday was his birthday!?" Pinkie pie said. Luna gasps and looks at him.
"NOVA!!!! You never told me!! We gotta have a party for you!" She yelled. Nova has a sheepish look on his face.
"You never asked me." He said.
"You still should have told me!!" She yelled, looking crossed. He looks down.
"I know, but I wasn't in the mood, remember?" He asked. Luna sighs.
"I know honey, but you still gotta tell me these things okay?" She asked. She kisses his head.
"Okay." He said.
"Now give me a hug you silly filly." She said, opening up her forelegs. Nova smiles and hugs Luna. Luna hugs him.
"Happy late birthday, Nova." She said.
"Thank you." He said.
"Now, then! We are leaving again to get you a nice cake!" She said. Nova's stomach growls as soon as she said that. Luna puts him on her back. "Pony back ride!" She said.
"Moooom I'm a bit too old for that." Nova said. Luna looks back at him.
"I don't really care." She said. She looks forward again and trots on with Nova upon her back. Nova sighs.
"Something wrong?" She asked.
"Nothing's wrong. It's just me on your back. A grown stallion on your back." He said.
"And your point is?" Luna asked.
"That I should be hurting your back." He said.
"Not a chance." She said. Nova shrugs. Luna keeps trotting, while Nova looks around. Suddenly Luna slowly starts turning into a filly.
"Oh no! What's happening!?" She yelled. Her horn was glowing faintly.
"Luna!" Nova yelled. Luna becomes small as a newborn foal and begins giggling. Nova picks up foal Luna and runs back towards the castle. She is still a foal and begins laughing her flank off.
"I got you good!!" She yelled as she turns back to normal. Nova looks at her angrily as he sets her down.
"...What? It's April Foals day anyway..." She said. Nova facehoofs and sighs. Luna looks down as she sat.
"Even though you got me good, I was worried." He said.
"You seem angry with me now..." She said.
"I am a little upset, but I will get over it." He said.
"I am sorry..." Luna said. Nova hugs Luna.
"Please don't ever do that again." He said.
"I was just trying to make you laugh..." She sniffed.
"Please, don't cry." He said. Luna hugs him tight.
"I'm sorry..." She said. She softly cries into his chest.
"No, I'm sorry. I should have laughed." He said.
"No, I went too far..." She sniffed. Nova continues to hug Luna.
"I'm sorry, Nova." She said.
"I'm sorry too." He said. Luna hugs. Nova hugs back.
"Still wanna go get that cake, my son?" She asked. Nova nods.
"Sure." He said. Luna smiles slightly and begins walking. Nova follows. Luna walks into sugercube corner. Nova follows inside and sees that it's dark inside.
"You had better prepare yourself." Luna said.
"Uh, be prepared for what?" He asked. The lights turn on and ponies burst out from their hiding spots, one being pinkie from behind the counter.
"Happy birthday!" She yelled.
"That." Luna said. Nova to jump back in fright.
"Gaah!" He yells. Confetti shot into the air and balloons rose to the ceiling.
"Happy birthday Nova." Luna said.
"You.. did this pinkie? All for me?" He asked. Pinkie smiles wide and nods. Nova smiles wide and hugs pinkie.
"Awe!" Pinkie said, hugging back. "Now wait out here while I get your cake!" She said. Nova nods and walks to the punch bowl. Luna stays by Nova's side and nuzzles him. Nova smiles at Luna.
"You're the greatest son I could ever ask for." Luna said.
"Your the greatest mom I could ask for." He said. Luna blushes.
"That can't be possible...I've never had a child therefore I must have many flaws." She said. Nova places a hoof on her.
"Relax, I'm sure that you will do good." He said. Luna smiles at him. Nova smiles back.
"Cake is here!" Pinkie pie said. She came out with a cyan blue four tier cake that was three feet wide and five feet long, and one foot tall, with pink frosting. On the top of the cake said happy seventeenth birthday in the color of Nova's fur on top of a flawless image of his father's starship. Nova mouth drops open wide.
"That's... that's incredible!" He yells.
"I didn't know what your father's starship looked like, nor do I know what starship even is, but I just guessed!" She said. She smiles wide, making that little duck sound again. Nova uses his magic to make his bag appear. He opens it and takes out a small disc. He pushes a button on it and a holographic model of his father's starship appears and he looks it over.
"It's a perfect match." He said.
"Heh...I'm not surprised." She said.
"Wow...it IS a perfect match!" Luna said. Nova pushes the button again and the hologram dissappears and he places the disc back into his bag.
"Well, let's not wait. Let's eat!" He said. Pinkie pie faceplants into the cake. "Hey! That's mine!" He yells. He levitates a piece for himself and Luna. "Here you go Luna." He said.
"Thanks!" She said, taking the piece of cake. Pinkie pie removes a cake filled face from the cake. Nova takes a bite of cake and his eyes widen.
"Like it!?" Luna asked. Nova nods as he takes another bite.
"It's really good!" He said.
"It's ice cream cake with a chocolate crumble layer inside, with strawberry frosting!" Pinkie pie said.
"This is the best cake I have ever eaten!" Nova said. He takes another bite of cake. As he ate a mint green unicorn walks up to him.
"Hi! So your name is Nova gear huh? I'm Lyra!" The mint green unicorn said. Nova looks at Lyra.
"Hello Lyra." He said. Lyra looks up at him.
"Are you taller than Celestia??" She asked.
"Well, I'm taller than Luna." He said.
"What's she doing here anyway?" She asked. Nova leans in close.
"She adopted me. So, she's my mother." He said.
"Really? Wow!" Lyra said. Luna smiles and drapes a wing over Nova, pulling him against her side.
"Which makes him my son." She said. Nova nods.
"That it does. So Lyra, you came to me for a reason, you wanted to tell me something?" Nova asked.
"Oh, no, I just came to wish you a happy birthday!" She said. Nova smiles.
"Thank you, Lyra." He said. He looks at Luna and sighs sadly. "I miss my father, he was a good human captain. He wouldn't want to miss this at all." He said.
"Did you say...human?? Your dad was a HUMAN!? You mean humans exist!?" Lyra yelled. She stared at him with wide eyes. Nova looks at Lyra.
"Yes, he was a human. And yes, humans exist." He said.
"Well...sorry about your dad anyway..." Lyra said. Nova sighs.
"But I mustn't let it get to me. I'm sure that he would be so proud of me." He said.
"I'm sure he is. You've got wonderful friends, and a great place to live." Luna said.
"I also have you Luna." He said. Luna smiles.
"You always will." She said, kissing his head. Nova smiles.
"Now, let's continue to party." He said.
"Wanna dance?" Luna asked.
"Not much of a dancer, but okay." He said. Nova and Luna danced for a while, ate alot of cake, met other ponies, and had alot of fun. Nova flops on the ground, tired and full of cake. He groans as everypony starts to leave.
"Told you not to eat so much ya silly filly." Luna said. Luna puts him on her back. "Let's go home, shall we?" She asked. Nova nods and uses his magic to levitate his bag and the rest of the cake that pinkie pie put away in a box and tries to stands.
"I'm ready to go." He said.
"No. You're tired and weak, still with recovering legs. I don't care, it's in my best interest for your health you ride on my back." She said. Nova flops back down on Luna's back and nods again. Luna nuzzles his cheek.
"I love you, Nova." She said as she trots out of the bakery.
"Love you too, mom." He said. Luna smiles and trots into his room, laying him on the bed. Nova sets his bag and cake down on the table and closes his eyes. Luna lays down and holds him again.
"Sleep well my son." She said. Nova falls asleep with a smile on his face. Luna holds him closer and falls asleep as well.
