Rainbow Dash is livin a good and free life as the Princess of Cloudsdale. But when she has come of age, she faces the worst time of a mare's life- getting married. At least for Dash. Will she pay the price her freedom will cost?
Rainbow Dash, the Princess of Cloudsdale, lives the perfect life. Or so we think. Her dreams of being a Wonderbolt are shattered when she is informed that she is gonna get married! Will her efforts to save her freedom and to live her dream bear fruit? Or will it cause havoc amongst her kingdom? NOTE: This story is based on Disney Pixar's Brave. I really found the character of Merida similar to RD (And me! :P) so I made this fanfic.
In the Whitetail Woods was the campsite of the Royals of Cloudsdale. There the Queen was playing hide and seek with her daughter.
"Where are you? Come out, come out! Come out now!" A filly with a rainbow coloured mane was hiding just under the table where Firefly was searching near and giggling.
"Come on I'm gonna GET YOU!" She looked under the table she was standing near, but the filly had already escaped. "Hmm. Where is my little birthday girl? I'm going to GOBBLE HER UP WHEN I FIND HER!" The filly was just near Firefly and as she was about to escape- "GOTCHA!" Firefly grabbed the filly and began tickling her. "Mom! Stop it!" the filly said in the middle of giggles as she tried to break free. Suddenly, a violet stallion with a rainbow coloured mane, similar to the filly, put down his weapons on the table. "Rainbow Blaze! No weapons on the table." Firefly said in disgust to her husband.
The filly ran to her father and saw the weapons. "Oooh, Dad, can I have something like that?!" She asked, picking up the weapon. "Why not? Use your very own!" Rainbow Blaze said, handing her a mini bow and arrow. "Happy birthday Rainbow Darlin'!"
Rainbow Dash aimed the arrow to the target point. "Now, just concentrate on the target." Her father told her. " Stretch the arrow backward, and- RELEASE!" As RD released it, the arrow went somewhere into the deep into the forest.
"I missed."
"Go and fetch it then! " Her mother assured her. As soon as Rainbow was out of sight, Firefly looked at Rainbow Blaze in disgust. "A BOW, Blaze? She's a lady!" Blaze just playfully punched her and laughed.
"Oh come on! She needs training to become a warrior one day!" RB joked.
Rainbow Dash looked around in wonder as she searched around for her arrow. Suddenly, she found it . It was stuck onto a tree branch. As she pulled it out, she heard a noise. Rainbow looked around. There, at the back of her, was a floating like blue creature. "A Will-o'-the-wisp!" she whispered under her breath. As soon as she tried to catch it, it disappeared. "They are real!" She flew back to the camp as fast as she could and shouted "I SAW A WISP!" then she panted and repeated "I saw a wisp.
Firefly was looking amazed. "You saw a wisp?! You know some say, the Will-o'-the-wisp's, lead you to your fate.
"Or an arrow!" Rainbow Blaze interrupted. "Come on let's go. Before we see a dancing lion. Or a giant......" he continued.
Firefly just rolled her eyes. "Your father doesn't believe in, well, things that seem impossible. Though nothing is impossible in Equestria!" she chuckled.
"Well he should believe cause it's real!" RD said. Suddenly, Rainbow Dash saw a dark being overshadowed the mother and daughter. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"she screamed.
The others became aware. "Mordu! ATTACK!" Blaze cried. All the guards attacked the beast, but were defeated. Firefly carried Dash onto her back and flew away as fast as she could, while Rainbow watched her father's defeat in disbelief. Then Blaze himself faced the beast and screamed at the top of his lungs. "COME ON YOU!" The beast led out a bloodcurdling roar and attacked the purple pegasaus.
"Some say our destiny is tied to the land. Others say fate flies anywhere like a cloth, for it reaches us when we least expect it. Some want to change it. It's the one thing we search for. Some never find it! But there are some who are led......"
The Kingdom of Cloudsdale.
"The way my father lost his foreleg to the Manticore, Mordu, became a legend. I'm a big sister, to three new sisters, Sky High, Sweet Melody and Sunny. They call themselves the Incredibly Awesome Trio ......."
The IAT took some apple pies from the bakery and put them in Sunny's scooter. Then Sunny scooted off before Mrs. Cherry could catch them.
"......who are wee devils, more like. They can get away with Mrs. Cherry. I can never get away with anything! I am the Princess. I've got duties, responsibilities, expectations and stuff. My whole life is planned out! For the day I become, well, the thing my mother is! What was the word....oh, yeah, Queen."
Rainbow Dash was practicing her, well, speech. "The day I become queen I shall rule my..."
"Rule this!" Firefly corrected her.
Rainbow Dash continued. "And then I shall rule my.."
"You should remember all the points of this speech when you are taking your oath, or it's all for not!" Firefly said.
"This is all for not." RD muttered.
"I heard that! On the core....."
" A princess must be knowledgable about her kingdom..." While teaching RD about her kingdom she caught her red-handed doodling. " A princess does not doodle!"
While Rainbow let a pigeon loose, it attacked her father straight, who was standing right in front of her. She was laughing like heck at the sight! "A princess does not snort!" Firefly said, who was standing right over there. "A princess must be compassionate. Cautious! Clean. Rises early! And above all, a princess strives for, well, perfection." Firefly said finally, as Rainbow Dash stared at her in disbelief.
"But every once in a while, there was a day I don't have to be a princess! No lessons, no expectations, a day where anything can happen! A day I could change me fate....."
Rainbow Dash picked up her bow and arrow and along with Tank, flew off to the Whitetail Woods. "Well, now I'm gonna perform so AWESOME tricks that the Wonderbolts would take me in first hoof!" Rainbow said confidently to herself. Then she started with her Phase 1 (Again!). She looked for the highest trees in that forest, and then flew in circles around 10 trees 2 times. Then she closed her wings and began to fall to the ground. As soon she was nearly 10 inches apart from the ground, she opened her wings and flew up even faster than a rocket. Then she came dashing down like lightning.
"So, Tank, how was THAT?" RD asked.The only reply she got was Tank curling inside his shell. "Oh, well, I guess all that scared you. But that means The Wonderbolts are gonna think this is 20% cooler than their tricks even!" Dash said proudly.
Tank looked at her like "Dafaq?!" But RD didn't notice it.
She performed many crazy tricks, but here was the one she had never, ever, done in her life! First, RD took her bow and arrow. Then she took the arrow in her mouth and adjusted it with the bow. She pointed the arrow towards the sky. Then she stretched the arrow backwards and then she released it. As soon as the arrow went towards the sky, Dash took flight as well. Then, at the speed of lightning, she went towards the arrow and caught it. Then, without wasting another minute, she performed the sonic rainboom. But this time, she performed it zig -zagging, not straight.
After all this, she took rest for a while. "Phew! THAT was tiring! And awesome! Hmmmmm. Maybe I could do one last trick....." Tank was like "Oh shit. Not again!" "But this time it's not going to be tiring! It's going to be fun! Tank, you are going to accompany me."
Tank just rolled his eyes and nodded his head.
Rainbow Dash tied her wings and looked at the huge waterfall in front of her. "Firefalls," she said. "well, I'm gonna climb this WITHOUT my wings. For fun!" She said, looking at her tied wings. Then she started climbing the mountain. At many points she slipped, but finally she reached up. Then she drank the water from the falls. "Ahhhhh!" she said. "How refreshing! After all those crazy tricks!" The sun was setting. Rainbow Dash saw the sun setting from above there. THAT was a sight to see!
After a really tiring day, she and Tank flew back to their kingdom.
"Phew! What a tiring day! I'm starving! You're hungry to I guess." she asked Tank. But the only reply she got was Tank blinking, that too slowly. "Sooooooo.......I'll take that as a yes?" Then she smiled awkwardly and went inside the kitchen. There she stuffed an apple in her mouth and took a plate of cream buns in her hooves. As soon as she entered the family dining room, the same old scene was playing: Her father bragging about how he defeated the Manticore, Mordu.
"His face had a SCAR with ONE.DEAD.EYE..." Sweet Melody and Sunny were bored to death while Sky High was imitating her father. ".........I do my sword, AND....."
" Whoosh!" Rainbow Dash interrupted. "The bear escaped and then CHOMP! Dad's foreleg was CLEAN OFF! Then Dad slayed the monster...."
"Aw, that's my favourite part!" Rainbow Blaze said proudly.
"Mordu has never been seen since." Dash continued. "And he's roaming awhile, waiting his chance of revenge. ARGHHH!" Then she made a wacky impression of Mordu. When she placed her bow on the table-
"Rainbow Dash, no weapons on the table" Firefly said.
"Mom, it's just my bow!" Rainbow Dash said, slightly annoyed.
"Princesses should not have weapons, in my opinion."
Rainbow Dash ignored that little comment and said "Mom, you'll never guess what I did today. I practised many new tricks, and drank from the Firefalls!" Though Firefly didn't seem interested, The ears of the Trio pricked up.
"Firefalls?! They say the great kings were only brave enough to drink from the fire!" said RB, winking at Dash. She laughed at her Dad's little compliment.
"What did you do dear?" Firefly asked, as if she didn't hear a thing.
Depressed, Rainbow Dash just said "Nothing."
"Hungry aren't we?" Firefly said.
"Mom!" Rainbow Dash said in disgust, depressed by the fact that her own Mom had no appreciation for what she did.
"Blaze, look at your daughter's plate!" Firefly said, pointing towards the plate with the stack of cream buns. "So what?" RB said, while he was attacked by their pet dogs. "Ugh. Girls! Don't play with your bitter gourds!" Firefly said as she saw Scootaloo putting the bitter gourd near Apple Bloom while AB was pretending to gag.
"How would you know you like it unless you try it? It's nice, yum yum!" she tried to assure. A servant came holding a tray with three letters.
"Here you go, my lady." "Thank you Cherry."
As Firefly was reading the letters, Rainbow Dash tried to grab the attention of the IAT. "Psst!" she said, and pointed towards the tray of cream buns. Then she put the tray under the table. The Trio too went under and started munching on the buns. When they saw their one of their Dad's forelegs near them, a mischievous smile came upon their faces.
While Blaze was STILL being licked by those dogs, Firefly whispered "All accepted!"
"Accepted what?" RB asked, finally shoving away the dogs. Firefly looked towards the Trio.
"Girls, you are excused." As the Trio was going they stuffed cream buns wherever they could and took the buns with them. Sensing the smell of cream buns, the dogs followed them.
"What did I do now?" Rainbow let out a big, awkward smile and batted her eyes all innocent like.
"Your father has something to DISCUSS WITH YOU!" As soon as Firefly said these words, Blaze spat out the water he was drinking.
"Blaze?" Firefly pointed her eyes towards Rainbow Dash.
"Oh, that, um......" He stammered nervously. "Okay. Rainbow Dash. You are....um...."
"Shit. Rainbow, dear, the clans accepted have accepted the marriage proposals we sent!" Firefly said happily.
"WHAT?! DAD!!!" RD looked towards her Dad in shock. Only he understands and values RD's dream of being a Wonderbolt.
"Hey, it's not me! I didn't ........Firefly?"
"Honestly, Rainbow Dash, I don't know why you're behaving like this. The’re going to come here and compete for your hand!"
"WHY DOES A PRINCESS HAVE TO DO WHAT SHE'S TOLD?!" Rainbow shouted in anger.
"A princess does not raise her voice! Rainbow Dash, this is what you've been preparing for your whole life!"
"No, It's what YOU'VE been preparing me for my whole life!" Rainbow got up and and left the table as tears of anger escaped her eyes. Firefly just rolled her eyes and followed Rainbow to her room.
Seeing all this, Rainbow Blaze got up. "Um....Rainbow Da.....Wha?!" He looked down as he saw one of his foreleg's tied to the table and as he got up the whole table fell down! "GIIIRRRRLLLLSSS!!!!"
Rainbow Dash was hitting her bed with her sword. "Mom, Suitors? MARRIAGE?!"
Firefly just picked up a set of chess kept on a table. "Once there was an ancient kingdom....."
Rainbow just rolled her eyes. "Oh, MOM! Ancient kingdom?! We're in the middle of a huge problem here!"
Firefly ignored her and continued. "It's name is long forgotten. It was ruled by a wise and fair king who was much beloved! One day, he gave both of his two daughters different jobs. The oldest one got the job of rising the sun and younger one got the job of rising the moon. But everyone gave the oldest one more importance, and the younger one was neglected. One day, a dark power of jealousy filled her and she became evil. She was out of her mind and even tried to kill her own sister! And she became, what we now know as Nightmare Moon."
"That's a nice STORY." Rainbow said sarcastically. "And, BTW, Mom, we know the story of Nightmare Moon. And we defeated her. And this has nothing to do with our problem here."
"It's not just a story, Rainbow. Legends are lessons they are connected to truth!"
"But, but, I....."
"I don't want to hear anything else Rainbow Dash! And it's just marriage, it's not the end of the world!"
As soon as Firefly went out, Rainbow slammed the door in frustration. Then she flew out of the small window in her bedroom and muttered to herself."It's marriage, not the end of the world! Yeah right! Of course it's not the end of the world, but the end of MY life and MY dreams!" Then Rainbow just lay on a cloud and muttered to herself.
"Rainbow! We're so glad to see you again!"
Rainbow looked down from her cloud and saw Twilight and her friends. "Oh, Hi guys!" Rainbow felt good to meet her friends again, but after all this marriage fiasco, she was kinda depressed and a frown came on her face.
"Um, Rainbow, aren't you happy to see us again?" Fluttershy asked.
"Huh? Oh, of course I'm happy!" RD plastered a fake smile on her face.
"Ah'm pretty sure something's botherin' you. What's the matter, sugarcube?" That's when RD almost blurted out her feelings. Well, almost.
"Well, the thing is....wait, first let ME ask something; what are you all doing here?"
Pinkie answered cheerfully, "Oh, we're here for your MARRIAGE PARTY!" Then Pinkie started making kissy faces and noises.
"Soooooo......who's the lucky boy? Maybe that Wonderbolt Soarin? Oh, we all know you like him!" Rainbow just rolled her eyes. "Ugh. It's something and nothing like that. Just because I saved him from falling to his death when we were in Rainbow Falls, it doesn't mean I like him or anything!"
"Oh, but it was sooo romatic! Seeing both of you together is just.....PERFECT!" Rarity said dreamily. Twilight shushed both Rarity and Pinkie.
"Forget them, Rainbow. Tell us what's bothering you."
That's when Rainbow got all emotional and blurted out everything. "Well, my parents said that these three clans people are gonna come and present their suitors for my hand. But I don't wanna get married! You all know that I also cleared that Wonderbolts exam test thing and I was so close to living my dream! But all this marriage fiasco started coming in my way! After getting, you know, married, we have to see the house and.....it's just so complicated!"
Fluttershy felt really sorry for Rainbow and flew next to her. "Oh, Rainbow Dash, I really wish we could do something about all this!"
That's when a lightbulb struck inside Pinkie. " Hey, hey, I know what to do!" Rainbow's eyes lit up.
"What?!"
" You could marry Soarin and then ask him to get you into the Wonderbolts and problem solved!"
AJ punched her hard. "Pinkie!" AJ said sternly.
"Ow! Whaaaaat?"
Rainbow just sighed. "That's a good plan, but......it's alright. Anyway, I do feel really better seeing you guys!" Then she waved. "Bye! See you later sometime, I guess." Her friends waved back.
"GOOD LUCK FOR.....um....NOT GETTING MARRIED!" Pinkie shouted at the top of her lungs.
Rainbow just rolled her eyes and chuckled to herself. " Typical Pinkie."
"&£%#*+€$@" Firefly was in her room, working on the family tapestry she had been working on for years and muttering. "You're muttering!" Rainbow Blaze said as he entered the room. "I don't mutter." "Yeah right. You muttered last when something was troubling you!" "Stuborness. She is gone towards your side of the family."Firefly said. "Speak to her dear." "I DO speak to her! But she just DOESN'T LISTEN!" Rainbow Blaze sat down. "Okay. Pretend I'm Rainbow Dash. Speak to me!" "Comet! I can't do this!" "Sure you can! Just give it a try!" Then Firefly pretended to frown.
"There! There! That's my Queen!" Then Blaze took in a deep breath and spoke in a girlish voice. "I don't wanna get married I want my mane flowing in the wind, flying out towards the sunset!"
Firefly seemed amused, and then she spoke. "Rainbow Dash, all this work, all the time's been preparing you, schooling you, giving you everything we never had. I ask you what do you expect us to do?"
"CALL OFF THE GATHERING!" Rainbow Dash said to herself while kicking some clouds. "Would that kill them? You're the Queen, you could just tell the lords the princess is not ready for this, who, in fact, might not EVER be ready for this, so that's that, bye bye to you!"
"I understand this might all seem, well, unfair," Then Firefly let her voice low. "Even I've had some serious issues myself!" Rainbow Blaze became a bit suspicious. "But we can't run away from who we are!" "I don't want my life to be over! I want to live my dream! I want some freedom!" "But are you willing to pay the price your freedom will cost?" "I'm not doing any of this to hurt you!" "If you could just.....try to see what I do, I do out of love!" "But it's my life it's......" Rainbow sighed. ".......I'm just not ready." "I think you will understand......" "I think I can make you understand if you would just....." "Listen." "Listen!"
Tank just blinked. Rainbow just sighed again and looked up at the sky. "Well, my bad luck. But I swear, Tank, whatever I said is not going to happen in a hundred years." Then she just nudged Tank.
Today was the big day. A Parachute with a proud Unicorn stallion sitting in it was rising up from some clouds. Then some drums began to beat. The Unicorn looked in surprise at his left and saw a parachute with an Earth Pony stallion holding up his head proudly. His fellow stallions shouted "MACINTOSH!"
Then the Unicorn heard some trumpet noises and turned right and to his right and to his surprise he saw another parachute with a Pegasaus holding his head up proudly. Like before, the Pegasaus' fellow stallions shouted "HURRICANE!"
Then the Unicorn turned to his fellow stallions and shouted out his clan's name. "BLUEBLOOD!" His fellow stallions repeated the same. Then the parachutes of the three clans went towards the castle of the Royals of Cloudsdale.
Meanwhile, Firefly was getting Rainbow Dash ready for the big day. She brushed RD's messy mane, adjusted her dress and packed RD's wings in the dress. Firefly finished off by hanging a pendant around Rainbow's neck. "So, how does it feel?" Firefly asked, looking pleased. "I can't BREATHE!" Rainbow said, trying to inhale some air. "Oh shush. Now give us a turn!" "I can't move! It's to tight!" Rainbow turned around like a chicken who can't walk. "You look beautiful!" Firefly gushed. That's when she suddenly got all emotional and took a step towards Rainbow Dash. 'Rainbow Dash....." "Mom?" Rainbow expected to hear something sappy or something. "Just........remember to smile." Then Firefly walked out of the room. Rainbow Dash just stared straight. "What dafaq just happened?"
The preparations were going on well. Everyone was buzzing around with excitement! Firefly was in charge of everything. "Places everyone! Places!" Just then Rainbow Dash came there with a frown on her face and sat on the seat she had to sit on. Firefly came and adjusted the short red strand of Rainbow's mane hanging in front of her forehead. Firefly adjusted the strand with the neatly tied rainbow coloured mane and went to her seat. As soon as Firefly went, Rainbow just glared at her mother and pulled out the red strand.
Suddenly, the three clans bursted in and stood before the Royals. Commander Hurricane, being the shortest one, said "Aye." A servant brought a stool and Hurricane stood on it.
Rainbow Blaze stood up from his seat. "So.....um....here we are! The....meeting of.....the...clans...and..a" Firefly placed her hoof over her head and came to RB's rescue. "The presentation of the suitors!" "The presentation of the suitors." Blaze repeated.
Everypony cheered.
"Clan Macintosh, begin."
Lord Macintosh stepped forward and began his presentation. "Your majesty, I present my oldest son," A healthy crimson coloured stallion came forward. "He scuffled the enemy tribes and that too with his bare hooves!" As soon as his father said these words, Small Macintosh broke a thick tree branch with his bare hooves.
"Clan Blueblood."
"Your majesty, may I present my son and heir, who finished off the invading Buffalo Tribes just with his sword!" After Lord Blueblood finished, a handsome young stallion (if you want to call it like that) showed of his fencing skills.
Rainbow Dash just rolled her eyes and covered them with her hooves. 'He's a unicorn. Duh! Of course he can finish anypony off with his magic. This is so not impressive.' She thought to herself.
"Your majesty, I present my only son," Commander Hurricane said and pointed towards a huge stallion with a LOT of muscles. Rainbow Dash uncovered her eyes and was shocked! Even her parents were shocked! "He drove away the Griffons like this: With one hoof he-" He looked to his right, frowned, and pulled a wimpy looking stallion from behind the muscle stallion. Then he raised up the wimpy stallion's arm and continued, " With one hoof, he punched one Griffon ten times, and with the other, he held his mighty sword, and slayed all the Griffons in one second."
"Lies!" some pony shouted.
Commander Hurricane's ears pricked and he searched around for the pony who said that. "Lies! I heard that! Show your face!" Or are you a little, scaredy kitten, afraid to show your pretty heir?" he teased.
Lord Blueblood stepped forward. "Atleast WE have heir!"
"As if we don't!" Lord Macintosh said. Even Small Mac said, something. "Fgvdfhhbhujjuuguiimhgjh!"
No pony understood a word. Awkward silence.
Finally Lord Blueblood spoke. "Well, at least we're not short and skimpy like you little troll!"
Every pony laughed at that little joke, including RB. He was laughing like a madpony!
"You wanna laugh, eh? SMALL TORNADO!" The wimpy stallion's ears pricked up. Then he flew over and started biting Lord Blueblood like a squirrel! And then a mini war ensued!
Rainbow Blaze was watching it like he was watching a football match! "Yeah! Kill him! Way to g-" Firefly glanced at him. "Oh, alright." Then he got up from his throne and shouted "CUT IT!"
Everypony stopped fighting.
"What are you doing? You're here for my daughter's hand, not to start a war! Show a little decorum." While their father was saying his stuff, the IAT crept up from a drain hole and hit Commander Hurricane's foreleg with a club.
SWACK! "AAAAAAAAAAHHH-" He was stopped by Prince Blueblood punching him. Then the war ensued.
Again!
This time, Blaze lost control and jumped over 10 stallions and joined the war!
Firefly put her hoof over her forehead and got up. As she proceeded, the war's anger became cooler, and cooler until-
"Ow! Ouch! Shit!" Firefly grabbed her husband and the lords by their ears. Then she released them and went towards her throne and stood there.
"I'm sorry dear I-, OK, fine." Rainbow Blaze went to his throne and gave the lords the evil eye.
Then Firefly spoke. "Now, where were we? Ah, yes, in accordance to our laws, by the rights of our heritage, only the first born of each of the great leaders may be presented as suitors,"
At this part, Rainbow's ears pricked up. "First born?"
"The suitors must prove their worth by the use of strength or hooves in the games,"
Suddenly a lighbulb lit up in RD's mind.
"It is customary that the game should be chooses by the princess herself-"
"ARCHERY! Archery!" All eyes looked at Rainbow Dash.
Then Rainbow Dash stood in a royal lady-like pose. "I choose archery."
Cloudsdale was buzzing with excitement. Everyone put up stalls of food, games and many more things. The food stall of Mrs. Cherry Pie was the aim of the IAT. When Mrs. Pie wasn't looking, Sky High tied a rope to one of her hoofs and started going down From the roof while Sunny and Melody held the rope. As soon as Sky picked up some pies, Mrs Cherry caught her and IAT fell down into the barrel of pies. "Now, I've told you, you're not allowed to-" But Mrs. Pie got cut off as she saw the barrel itself started moving! Sweet Melody, who was born a unicorn, moved the barrel with her magic.
All the hectic activity was over as a horn blowed. It was time for the games!
"Archers to your marks!" Firefly said cheerfully.
"Aye, archers t-to your marks!" Rainbow Blaze repeated.
"And may the lucky arrow find it's target." Rainbow Dash just grinned and put her bow and arrow behind her seat.
Rainbow's friends too were present there. "I can't believe Rainbow was in such a bad mood yesterday and today she's all cheerful!" Twilight said, pointing towards Rainbow Dash who WAS looking really cheerful.
"Yeah, you're sure right. Ah wonder what's cookin' up in her mind! She's not the one who's gonna be easily convinced, in mah experience!" AJ said.
"I cannot BELIEVE Prince Blueblood is here to compete as well! I hope he doesn't succeed, so Rainbow dear wouldn't have to have someone as stinky, stupid and foolish as him!" Rarity said, glaring at Blueblood, who was being all pampered by the mares surrounding him.
"Um, I dunno, I just hope Rainbow Dash is just actually happy about all this on the inside." Fluttershy said. She was the only one who knew RD really, REALLY well.
"Aye, get on with it!" Blaze shouted as he seated himself onto his throne.
"I CAN'T WAIT!" Everypony present there glared at Pinkie Pie. "Ooops."
Small Macintosh went first. He adjusted the arrow with the bow and aimed towards the target. As he released it- He missed it. "Nope." Then Small Mac just put his hoof on his forehead and backed away.
Rainbow whispered to her Dad "I bet he wishes he was a Pegasaus to fly away to never show his face again!"
"I hope not dear!" They both laughed at Rainbows little joke.
Next Prince Blueblood went ahead proudly. He was sure to hit the target as he could use his magic! He stretched the arrow backward and- "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" The arrow was NEAR the target, and Prince Blueblood was throwing a hissy fit like a filly!
Rainbow seemed amused. "Well, THAT'S attractive!"
Prince Blueblood hit the bow everywhere and finally threw it at the crowd. "I got it!" Somepony shouted from the crowd.
Rainbow turned to her father and said "That pony has a good hoof!" "And such lovely, flowy locks!" "Blaze!" Firefly glared at her husband. "Whaaaaat?"
At last Small Tornado came forward. He took the arrow in his mouth, and tried to adjust it with the bow. After a while, Rainbow Blaze got annoyed and shouted "Oh, come on, SHOOT IT BOY!" Hearing the kings words the wimpy stallion let go off the arrow and-
"YES! YESYESYES!" Commander Tornado danced around like a maniac as if he won a billion bits! "MY SON HAS HIT IT! MY SON HAS HIT THE TARGET! EAT YOUR HEART OUT, LORDS!"
Firefly and Blaze were speechless. Finally, Rainbow Blaze spoke. "Well, that's just......grand now, I guess. Guess who's coming to dinner tonight! By the way, hope you don't mind being called the lady." He turned to his right, only to find a black dog instead of Rainbow Dash.
Suddenly, some pony planted a flag with a lightning bolt in it. Then a Pegasaus wearing a cape around her head came forward. Then she uncovered the cape from her head and spoke. "I am Rainbow Dash, first born descendant of the Royals of Cloudsdale," Then she turned towards her parents. "And I'll be shooting for my own hand!"
The lords turned towards Firefly. She got up from her seat. "What are you doing?!"
Then Rainbow tried to stretch her wings out from that tight dress. "Ungh...Oooof!" "Rainbow Dash!" "Curse this dress!" Rainbow stretched her wings with so much strength that the dress tore at some parts. But she didn't care about that. Relieved from that dreaded dress, Rainbow flew upwards and aimed her arrow at the first target. She released it and the arrow went straight into the red circle. "Rainbow, stop it right this instant!" Firefly flew towards the field. Rainbow ignored her mother and flew towards the second target. Again, she hit bulls-eye. Then she flew and aimed towards the final target- the target of her freedom. "Rainbow Dash! I forbid it!" Firefly flew towards her daughter, but it was too late. Rainbow had already released the arrow. And the arrow went in such a way that-
CRACK!
The arrow went straight through Small Tornado's arrow and through the target board. Rainbow smiled at her victory, but that smile quickly faded into a frown as she met eye to eye with her mother.
"I've had enough of you spoiled brat!" "You're the one that wants me to-" "You embarrassed them. You embarrassed ME!" "I followed the rules!" "You don't know what you've done!" Firefly slammed the door behind her. "I don't care, I-" "There'll be knives and swords if it's not set right." Firefly warned. "Just LISTEN!" "I am the Queen! YOU. LISTEN. TO. ME!" "AAAARRGH! This is so unfair!" Rainbow Dash took a sword in her hooves as she said those words. "Ha, unfair?!" "You're never there for me! This whole marriage is what YOU want. Did you ever bother to ask what I want? No!" Rainbow swung the sword back and forth as she spoke. "You have no right to tell me what to do, what not to do, trying to make ME be like YOU! Well, I'm not going to be like you!" "You're acting like a child." Rainbow went towards the family tapestry with her sword. "And you're a BEAST! That's what you are!" Firefly saw what was coming and gasped. "Rainbow Dash!" "I'll never be like you!" Rainbow Dash brought the sword closer to the tapestry as she spoke. "No, stop that!" "I'd rather NEITHER BE LIKE YOU!" Rainbow split the tapestry onto two parts: One with she and her Dad, and the other part had her Mother standing alone.
Firefly stood speechless for a moment. Then her face turned red with anger and she walked angrily towards Dash. "Rainbow Dash, you are a Princess," She took RD's bow and arrow and by mistake her promotion letter to the Wonderbolts too! "I expect you to act like one!" "Mom, no!" Then Firefly threw both Rainbow's bow and and promotion letter into the fireplace near her.
For a moment, Rainbow stared in horror at her burning bow and letter. Then tears escaped her eyes and she dashed out of the door.
"Rainbow! Rainbow Dash!" Suddenly Firefly heard some crunching noise from behind her. "Oh no!" She flew and picked up the sword RD was holding and got the bow and letter out of the fire. But it was too late.
"Oh no! What have I done!" She stared in horror with tears of gultiness in her eyes as she saw what was in front of her: only a burnt bow and ashes of the letter. Ashes of anger.
A streak of a rainbow and a flying turtle passed through the deep and dark Whitetail woods. It was now cloudy. Rainbow Dash flew as fast as she can while hot tears escaped her eyes. "How can Mom do this to me?! Does she even care about me? My feelings? My dreams? Anything?! Is she even my mom or what?! How can she ju-" Rainbow didn't look where she was going and she hit a tree branch and fell to the ground. "Ow! Oh shit." She looked at one of her wings which was kinda broken. Then she looked around and started to panic. "Tank? Tank! Where are you?" But she was soon relieved as she saw Tank slowly flying towards her.
"Ah! There you are! But what is this place?" She looked at the huge stones in front of her. "Shit! I never knew there was a place like this! How come-" She stopped as she saw a small, blue floating figure. This seemed familiar! Rainbow went towards the figure and as soon as she tried to catch it, it disappeared. "The Will-o'-the-wisps!" Then she saw a long trail of the Wisps. "Come on Tank." Tank just curled up inside his shell.
"Tank!"
No reply.
"Forget it." Rainbow turned towards the Wisps and followed the trail. As soon as she neared the last Wisp, it disappeared.
No more Wisps.
Rainbow saw a small cottage with a thatched roof in front of her. "Why would the Wisps lead me here?" She proceeded towards the cottage. As soon as she entered the cottage a bell ringed. She looked around the place. It was filled with bear carvings and bear stuff. "Uh....."
"Oh, you can see whatever you like. Everything is half off!" An old voice spoke. Rainbow turned around and saw and old unicorn carving something.
"Who are you?"
"Just an old wood carver."
Rainbow picked up a pot with the face of a bear carved on it. "Um.....I don't understand- Gasp!" The unicorn startled her.
"Do you like it? Perhaps you can take this see-saw to brighten up any damn chamber!" The old unicorn said as she pointed toward a small wooden toy-looking type with two bears on a see-saw. "But the Will-o'-the-wisps, they lead me-" "Oh, this is one of a kind!" The unicorn pointed towards a wooden portrait with bears carved on it. "It's a really good one, you'll never find anything like it anywhere!" Then the unicorn saw Rainbow staring at a crow. "Oh, a-a-a-a, that's that, heh heh."
As soon as RD tried to touch the crow's beak, the crow snapped it's beak and talked! "Stop it." Rainbow backed off in shock. "The c-crows talking!" "That's all I can do. Lalalalalalalalaal-" A broom knocked off the crow. Assuming the crow was dead, the broom started sweeping it. The crow quickly recovered and snarled at the the broom, much to the broom's shock.
Seeing all this, Rainbow exclaimed. "You're a WITCH!" "Wood carver." "That's why the the Wisps led me here!" "Wood carver!" "You'll change my fate!" "WOOD CARVER!!" "You see, it's my mother-" "I'M NOT A WITCH! To many unsatisfied customers!" The unicorn said as she pointed a knife towards Rainbow Dash.
Then the Unicorn became all friendly like. "If you're not going to buy anything……GET OUT!" A silver aura came out of the unicorn's horn and she picked up several sharp objects and then she went towards Rainbow Dash. "No, the Wisps led me here!" Rainbow said as she backed off. "I DON'T CARE! GET OUT! GET OUT SHOO! GET RID OFF WITH Y-" "I'll buy it all!" Rainbow shouted finally. "Wait, wh-what was that?" "Every carving." "Heh heh, and how are you going to pay for that, sweetie?" "With this." Rainbow took out the pendant she was wearing held it towards the old unicorn. "My, thats lovely that is!" The unicorn tried to grab the pendant but Rainbow took it back. "Every carving and, one, spell." "Hmm. DEAL!" The unicorn took Rainbow out of the cottage. "Never conjour where you carve! Very important." The witch (I'm gonna call the unicorn the witch now.) opened the door of the cottage. This time, it was dark inside the cottage and there was a huge cauldron inside the cottage.
"Last time I did this for another Princess! She demanded demanded she wanted to rule the whole Equestria. When I asked her what would she give me in return, she gave me this," The witch showed Rainbow a necklace with the crescent moon on it. "For a spell. A spell that would change her fate."
Rainbow looked at the necklace closely. "And did she get what she was after?"
"Oh of course she did. Now let's get started with you!" The witch went towards the huge cauldron and threw many odd things in it like a lizard, some dirt and then whispered something into the talking crow's ear. The crow nodded and flew towards Rainbow Dash. Then he plucked out a small piece out of Rainbow's multicoloured mane with his break.
"Ow! That hurts you know!"
The crow handed over the piece to the witch. She smiled and added the piece to the cauldron. Then she started mixing it. Rainbow came over to see what was happening and stared at the odd mixture. The Witch then put a mask on her face. She did the same with the talking crow. Rainbow still stared at the cauldron as it started to glow. "What the-" The witch covered RD's eyes before she could say anything else. Then the mixture in the cauldron beamed brighter and brighter till it like blasted out light.
"Ah, now what have we here?" The witch took out something from the bubbling mixture. She then placed it on a table. It was a cake!
Rainbow Dash looked at it in disbelief. "A.....cake?" The witch glared at Rainbow. "You don't want it?" "Yes! I want it! But....you're sure if I give THIS to my Mom, it would change my fate?" "Oh, of course! It will do the trick."
Rainbow went out and took the cake in a small plastic bag and smiled.
"Enjoy your spell! You'll get the rest of your delivery within a fortnight!" Then the Witch tried to remember something. "Oh..oh, um, what was that thing About the spell?!" "Did you say something about...." Rainbow turned around but instead of a cottage she saw nothing. "…The spell? Was I dreaming? But the cake is still here! Anyways." She went towards the stones and saw Tank still curled up in his shell. "Come on Tank. We're going back."
Rainbow Dash entered the kitchen room and looked around to make sure she was alone. The she took a tray, poured some tea in a cup, and placed they're tea, cake and a fork in the tray. Just then, Firefly entered the kitchen. "Rainbow Dash!" She went towards Rainbow and looked at her affectionaly. "I've been worried sick of you! What did you think…where did you, oh, look at your dress!" Firefly looked at Rainbow's dress which was looking worse than ever.
"Oh, um, that, uh, I kinda fell down. But I'm not hurt!" Rainbow Dash tried to hide her broken wing and plastered a fake smile on her face.
"Well, you're home now. So that's the end of it." Rainbow's eyes lit up. "Honestly?!" "I've pacified the lords for now. You're father's like, well, entertaining them! Of course we both know a decision still has to be made." Rainbow's smile quickly faded into a frown. Then she remembered the cake. She took the cake and held it towards her Mom.
"For me?!" "Meh, I just read a new, um, recipe somewhere and so I made this specially for you!" "Thank you. I can't believe you actually got interested in cooking!" "Well, I guess I just remembered Pinkie and made this cake. Now Mom, eat it fast! I can't wait to see if you like my recipe thingy!"
Firefly ate a piece of the cake. Suddenly her face became like she had eaten something really bitter or something like that. "Interesting…flavour!" "So do you feel anything new? Different?" "Geamy!" Firefly quickly took some water and drank it. "So, have you changed your mind about the marriage and getting me into the Wonderbolts and things?" "Ah, now that feels better. Now, let's go out and discuss the matter with the lords!" Firefly said as if she didn't hear a word Rainbow said. Suddenly as Rainbow and Firefly were proceeding towards Firefly went dizzy. "Rainbow Dash!" "Mom! What happened?" "I don't know. I'm suddenly feeling a little dizzy and sick." "So have you changed your mind?" "RAINBOW DASH! Oh just help me to my room."
As Rainbow helped her Mom to her bedroom upstairs, the lords saw Firefly and ran towards her. "My lady! What have you thought? Will my son marry your daughter?" "No, MY son will! My lady you see-" "Lords, I'm completely out of sort at this moment. But you shall have answer-" Then Firefly let out a big burp, much to the lords disgust." Presently. Now if you'll all, excuse us!"
Rainbow Dash covered her Mom with a blanket. "It's gonna be alright Mom. As soon as you will be well, you could tell your opinion about the marriage!" "WHAT was in DAT CAKE???!!!!!!!" "Cake?!" Then Firefly just fell down from her bed. "Uh, Mom? Sooooo……I'll tell them the wedding's off then!"
No reply came. Only groaning.
"Uh, Mom?!" Rainbow went to see what happened to her mother.
Again no reply came. Only more strange noises.
"Mom?"
Just then, from the blanket rose a tall, black figure with sharp claws instead of hooves. As soon as Rainbow saw what was in fron of her, she backed away in fright. "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Rainbow Dash pointed towards the figure and screamed "BEEEEEEEEAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!"
The figure turned around, saw a its own shadow of a bear and backed away. The the bear looked at Rainbow Dash. Dash screamed again "AAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!"
The bear was surprised Rainbow didn't recognize it and looked at itself in a mirror. The bear was so shocked at it's reflection that she feld down on the bed. When the bear tried to get up, it hit it's head on the wall. Seeing the actions of the bear, Rainbow realized who the bear was. "Mom, you're a bear! Argh, that gammy witch gave me a gammy spell!"
Firefly glared at Dash. "What? It isn't my fault! I didn't ask her to change you into a BEAR I just wanted her to change...." Rainbow gave an uneasy smile. '......You."
Firefly was so angry that she growled like heck!
Rainbow Blaze and the other ponies downstairs heard the the growl. Rainbow Blaze asked "Did you hear that?"
"Stupid witch. Why didn't she tell me this?! When will this spell end?" Rainbow turned towards her now bear Mom, who was trying to find her robes and crown. "Mom, we gotta get outta here!"
Firefly hesitated.
"Mom, did you forget about Dad? The king? If he sees you like this you're dead!"
Firefly nodded and agreed to escape hesitantly.
Rainbow Blaze and the others went upstairs. The others were just chatting and talking while Blaze kept guard.
"Mom! Come on here! And Stop making those noises!" Rainbow Dash and her Mom walked through a passage way while Firefly held a large plate to cover her body. Finally Dash lost it and whisper-shouted at her mother. "Mom! Why are you holding that plate?! You're not naked! And you weren't when you were a pony as well. It's not like anypony's gonna see you!"
A cream Pegasaus dropped the plate she was holding as she stared at Rainbow and the bear with her. Then she screamed ""AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"
Dash looked at her Mom and frowned. "Now you've done it."
The screams of the cream Pegasus was stopped when she saw Rainbow Blaze. "What happened Cherry? Why are you looking scared?"
"B-B-B-"
"Spit it out Cherry!"
"A BEEEEEEEEAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!"
"I KNEW IT! CHAAARGE!" All the ponies behind Rainbow Blaze foloowed him, almost trampling Mrs. Cherry alive! They went straight towards the spot where Firefly and Rainbow Dash were. Rainbow Dash saw the huge army and looked at her Mom.
"Mom! Come on! This way!" Rainbow went towards the left into a passage, but when she looked around, she didn't see her Mom. "Oh, FOR THE SAKE OF CELESTIA!!!!!!!"
Firefly went towards the right and into a room. She saw the Trio Playing with the stuff in the room. As soon as the IAT saw the bear, their jaws dropped open.
Rainbow Dash searched everywhere she could. What if her father saw the bear? What if they did something to her? When she went towards the room where her Mom was, she tripped on a trunk kept there.
"Ouch! That's two injuries in a day."
Then, with a bruised hoof, she went into the room. "Finally, there you are!"
The IAT pointed towards the Firefly. Firefly pointed towards them. Dash sighed. "Look, a witch turned Mom into a bear and it's NOT my fault. I need your help!"
The Trio exchanged glances. Then they turned towards Rainbow Dash and shook their heads. "Okay, you can have my desserts for two, no, THREE weeks!" They still shook their heads. "Okay fine! A year." The Trio nodded their heads. Like a boss.
Sweet Melody worked with the bear sounds. She screamed into a hollow vessel, which sounded like a bears growl. Sunny worked with the shadowing. She took a wooden bear and placed it in the light in such a way that Rainbow Blaze and his army thought It was the shadow of the bear. "THERE IT IS!!! GO GO GO!!!!!!!!" All of Blaze's army people followed him and charged. Sunny took the wooden bear, lantern and ran around and cleared the coast for Rainbow Dash and Firefly.
Sky High gave the signal to Rainbow and Firefly. "Grunt! Come on!" Rainbow dragged her Mom by force to the kitchen, which was their exit.
Sunny and Melody kept their father and his army busy. Sunny led the army, by the help of the bear shadow, to the top of the castle. As they all reached the top, they looked around for the bear. "Why, the beast disappeared into thin air!" "Maybe something took it." "A dragon, perhaps!" Blaze sighed. "Come on, let's go back." He tried to open the exit door, but it didn't budge. "It's locked!" "Well, that's no problem!" Commander Hurricane stepped forward and flapped his wings. "We Pegasi can fly down in a nick of time!" "But what about us unicorns?" "And Earth Ponies?" Blaze rubbed his chin. "Hmmmmm."
Sunny and Melody took the key of the exit of the roof with them, and met Sky High, Rainbow Dash and Firefly down in the kitchen. The Trio gathered and smiled at their sister and mother. "Rainbow Dash, remember your promise? Desserts for a year!" Sunny said. Rainbow rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I do."
Firefly put her paws at her chest and looked at her three daughters affectionaly. She looked like she was about to cry! "Mom, they will be Okay. Won't you girls?" The Trio nodded. Then Rainbow and Firefly turned to leave. "Oh, and help yourselves to anything you want, as a reward!" Then Rainbow and Firefly left.
The Trio turned around and the first thing they saw to eat was a half eaten cake. They crept up to it and stared at it.
"This looks delicious!"
Rainbow Dash looked around the stones she saw before in disbelief. "Come on Wisps! Come out! Lead me to the witch's cottage!"
Firefly looked at Dash like she was a mad pony. "I was standing right here and the wisps appeared right there and-"
Firefly signalled Rainbow to stop and then she went somewhere like something was leading her somewhere. "What the hell?" Then Rainbow followed her mother.
After walking for a few minutes, Rainbow recognised the place they were in. "Wait Mom! I remember this place. The witch's cottage is this way!" Dash ran straight ahead until she saw the same old cottage with the thatched roof. She turned to Firefly who was following her. "See? What did I tell ya?"
Then Rainbow Dash stepped inside the cottage, expecting to see weird bear carvings and stuff. But when she entered, there was nothing or no one but darkness. "What? How the hell could this happen?" Then Rainbow remembered what the witch did. "Oh, I got it!"
She went outside for a few seconds and then entered the cottage. But still nothing. "No, there's gotta be some mistake!" Rainbow Dash tried it many times.
But- "No." "No" "Nono!"
But this time when Dash and Firefly went inside, a bell rang. Suddenly the cauldron in fron of them started to glow. Then who's face but the witch's appeared in front of them! Then she spoke. "Welcome to the Crafty Carver's! Home to bear furniture and decor. I'm completely out of stock at this moment! But if you want bear furniture, pour glass 1 into the cauldron,"
Rainbow and Firefly looked at the set of glasses kept on a table in front of them.
"If you want wooden bear portraits, pour glass 2. If you're that rainbow-maned mare, pour glass 3."
Without wasting another second, Rainbow poured the stuff in glass 3 into the cauldron.
The witch recognised her. "Princess! I don't have a lot of time to talk as I am in Canterlot right now. I won't be back until spring. But there was one bit I forgot to tell ya 'bout the spell. At the second sunrise, your spell will be permanent!"
Rainbow gasped. "So is there any solution for this?"
"Oh, of course there is. Just remember these words: Fate be changed, look inside! Mend the bond, torn by pride."
Rainbow looked confused. "Fate be changed....mend the bond...what the hay does that mean?!"
"One more time! Fate be changed, look inside! Mend the bond, torn by pride."
Rainbow Dash still didn't understand. But this time she listened carefully.
"Okay, tata! Thank you for visiting Crafty Carver's!" Saying this, the witch disappeared.
"No! This can't happen!" Rainbow poured the stuff in the other glass into the cauldron.
"Welcome to the Craft Carver's! Home to..."
"WHAT?! WAIT!!!" Rainbow poured the stuff in all the glasses in panic. But it was of no use. It only made the situation worse!
"Your spell....home to.....blah,blah blah blah......" Then it seemed like the cauldron was about to explode! Firefly hugged Rainbow tight.
"Blah blah blah........have a lovely day!" Then the whole cottage bursted.
Surprisingly, Firefly and Rainbow Dash were pretty much alive.
Rainbow Dash took some wood from the forest and built a small shelter for her and Firefly, as it was raining hard.
After completing the shelter, Rainbow turned to her Mom. "We'll sort it out tomorrow." Firefly, who didn't seem convinced, just turned her head sideways and fell asleep.
Rainbow sighed. I'm such a jerk. Can't believe I did THIS. What if- oof, forget it Rainbow. Just sleep.
As she slept, many flashbacks came to her mind. She remembered the time when her friends found out she was a Princess.
"Rainbow, so for how many days are you going to Cloudsdale?" Twilight Sparkle asked. "Uh, actually, I'm going there for, like…forever." The five ponies were shocked. "FOREVER???!!!"
"Why? Why? WHY?! Why are you leaving us? Is there anything we did? Is it because of my continuos talking? I Pinkie Promise I'll never annoy you again! BUT PLEASE DON'T LEAVE US!!!! You know how much I panicked when you went for your Wonderbolts training thingy!" "Um, actually, Pinkie, it's not because of you. It's actually-" "What is it?" "Are you in the Wonderbolts?" "Um, Rainbow, just-" "CUT IT EVERYPONY!!!!!"
The mane 5 stared at Dash blankly. "Okay, I didn't mean to be rude to all of you, it's just…" "Go on, Rainbow." Applejack assured. "I'MACTUALLYTHEPRINCESSOFCLOUDSDALEBUTIDIDN'TTELLYOUALLBECAUSE-" Twilight put her hoof over Rainbow's mouth. "Dash! Tell us slowly!"
Rainbow Dash took in a deep breath. "Okay, fine. I'm actually the Princess of Cloudsdale. I didn't tell-"
She was cut off by Pinkie shouting "WHAT?!"
"I didn't tell you all 'cause of…some reasons." Applejack raised an eyebrow. "An' what were those reasons?' "Look, when I was like really small, like 5 years old, a Chimera or Manticore or something attacked my family, so they sent me here to be safe. After some years, I actually forgot about my past life and family and met you guys and…. you know the rest. But today I got a letter from my parents and they told me to go to Cloudsdale, as I have come of age or something. So I am going now. But I will visit you guys every month here!"
The others were dumbfounded by shock. The silence was broken as an announcement was made. "The next train for Cloudsdale is arriving in 20 minutes!"
Then Twilight spoke up. "Wait a sec, let me get this straight. You are a PRINCESS. You came HERE to be safe, as you said. And NOW you're going back. Forever. FOREVER!!!!" "Yeah, I never told that to y'all as I thought you would never treat me normally. And, I eventually forgot about it."
Pinkie held Rainbow's face in her hooves and shouted in her ears. "RAINBOW DASH!!!! THINK ABOUT US! AND WHAT ABOUT YOUR THRONE IN TWILIGHT'S CASTLE???!!! IT WILL BE EMPTY!! AND IF IT WILL BE EMPTY IWILLREMEMBERYOUANDCRY!!!!!!"
"Whoa, slow down Pinkie!" Rainbow gently shoved Pinkie away from her. "I'm not gonna die you know! I'm just going to Cloudsdale, not to space. Anyway, as I said, I'm gonna visit you every month!" Rainbow assured. "Oh, and for my throne thingy at Twilight's castle-just let Discord have it. Okay, Fluttershy?" Dash turned to Fluttershy, who was quite the whole time and sniffing to herself.
Fluttershy gave a small nod.
Twilight signalled Fluttershy to talk to Rainbow Dash. Fluttershy shaked her head. Twilight glared at her. Fluttershy sighed and flew towards Rainbow Dash. "So, um, Rainbow Dash - I dunno what to talk, you just said everything about yourself, so, I just wanted to ask, uh, are you gonna be okay there?" "Oh, I'm just gonna be fine. Almost. It's just that I'm gonna miss all of you a lot! Oh, and where's is Scootaloo?"
"She and the Crusaders are in their clubhouse. Sweetie Belle told me they've got some important work to do." Rarity replied. "I cannot BELIEVE they have something so important at the time you're leaving!"
"Oh, Okay." Dash replied, looking kinda sad. "Anyway, the bright side is I'll get more time to practice some new tricks in the nearby forests to impress the Wonderbolts!" "What? But you're a Princess! You have duties and responsibilities!" Rarity said. "Whoa Rarity! You're saying that like you're my Mom! Hey, I've got a dream and I'm gonna fulfil it, and nothing can stop me! Especially when I'm so close to it!"
Then suddenly Rarity's face turned red and she bursted into flames. "PUH-LEEZE!!! WHY IS FATE SO CRUEL WITH ME?! YOU TWO, TWILIGHT AND RAINBOW DASH, WHO DON'T EVEN WANT A FANCY AND ROYAL LIFE, HAVE IT!!! AND I DON'T!!!"
Everypony present there stared at Rarity. "Ooops. I guess I just lost it. I'm sorry, Rainbow and Twilight, it's just that I suddenly got jealo-"
She was cut off by a familiar voice shouting "ARE WE LATE? DID RAINBOW DASH GO ALREADY?!" It was the CMC!
"Crusaders? Spike? You're here? I thought Rarity said-" Rainbow turned to Rarity. "Okay, Rainbow Dash. I lied to you because we have planned a surprise for you." Rarity signalled to Spike. Spike nodded and brought out a small gift box from Scottaloo's Scooter. Rainbow looked at the box. "Thanks guys! There was no need for this!" "No need for all that, sugarcube. Just open the box." AJ said.
Rainbow opened the box. The first things she saw were three of the latest Daring Do novels. "I actually found these in the new library in my castle. I have read these already, so I thought about giving it to you!" Twilight said. "Wow! I haven't even read any of these! Thanks, egghead Princess Twilight!" Rainbow said jokingly.
The next thing was a rainbow coloured gem. "Lemme guess…this is from Spike, right?" Rainbow said and looked at Spike. Spike blushed. "I didn't actually know what to give you. But when I found this gem, I tried hard not to eat it and gave it to you!" "Thanks! Though I'm not a fan of diamonds and stuff, gotta admit, this gem does look kinda awesome!"
One by one Rainbow got crazy, but memorable, gifts. The last one was the Cutie Mark Crusaders' cape. Scootaloo spoke up. "I had no idea-" "Ahem!" Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle glared at Scootaloo. "WE had no idea what to give you. So we thought of giving you something that will remind you of us. Only, Apple Bloom added some more features to that cape!" Sootaloo pointed towards the cape.
The cape had a red lightning bolt in it and a picture of Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. "Thanks!" Rainbow said, and ruffled Scootaloo's mane.
Suddenly a lightning bolt struck Dash in the wings. "AAAAHHH!"
"AH!" Rainbow Dash got up as pain shot through her broken wing. "Phew! It was only a dream. Ow! That wing is paining more than ever!" Then she looked at the sky. It was stormy. The sky was lit up by lightning. Rainbow went back to sleep. This time, she remembered a night. A night just like this one. But a better one.
Firefly was embroidering her tapestry and singing a lullaby while filly Rainbow Dash played with her toys. It was stormy outside.

Rainbow Dash heard the sound of thunder, screamed and went in her mother's lap. Firefly chuckled. "Oh, you little scaredy cat! Whether anything comes you may not fear, I'll always be right here." Rainbow Dash smiled and hugged her Mom. Then they both sang together.
"Little baby, here my voice I'm beside you, O maiden fair Our young lady, grow and see Your land, your own faithful land Celestia and Luna, guide us To the hour of our glory and honour Little Baby, our young lady Noble Maiden fair..."
The last three notes of the lullaby faded as Rainbow Dash slowly woke up. In front of her blurry vision she saw Firefly with some kind of…thing. Rainbow Dash walked towards Firefly who was sitting at a huge stone-dining table. It had two forks,two glasses of water and some berries on two stone plates. "Mornin' Mom!" Firefly nodded to Dash in response. Rainbow settled herself and put her bow on the table. Firefly got an attitude about that and started scolding Rainbow. In bear language. Rainbow blinked. "Sorry, I don't speak bear!" Firefly stared at her glumly. Then she put one of her claws up as if to say no. Then she pointed towards the bow and then at the table. "Oh, no weapons on the table." Dash said glumly as she put her bow aside.
Firefly smiled. Then she took up a fork and tried to pick up one berry with the fork. But as she did, the berry hit Dash on the nose. "Ouch! Mom, be careful!" Firefly gasped. Then she took the berries one by one On each of her claws. Rainbow looked at the berries closely. "Found those by the creek, didn't cha?" Firefly nodded. "They're munchy berries!" Firefly continued to eat. "They're poisonous." Firefly's ears pricked up. She quickly spat out everything she had eaten and washed it down with the water. "Where did ya get this water? It has worms!" Firefly quickly spat out the water and banged the table, which caused it to fly away. Dash chuckled. "Come on here."
Rainbow Dash looked at the river beneath her. She aimed her eyes carefully for her target fish. As soon as she got the chance, she grabbed it in her mouth. She took it to her Mom.
Firefly looked at the fish carefully. Seeing how slimy and disgusting it was, she backed away. Rainbow put the fish back in the water. "Oh come on! You let that catch go easily!" Firefly glared at her. "Okay, I admit, I am the one who threw it. But, seriously, how would you know you like it if you don't try it?" Firefly still shook her head. "You said that yourself before." Rainbow mumbled.
Rainbow Dash groaned as she put the fish on the stick above the small fire she lit up. After the fish roasted, Dash gave it to her mom. Firefly looked at it, took a small fork and took a piece of the fish and tasted it. Like a queen. Suddenly something got into her and she began eating like a madpony bear, as Rainbow watched in awe. After completing her meal, Firefly raised her finger and signalled Rainbow to bring one more fish. Rainbow rolled her eyes and went towards the river.
After finishing the fish, Firefly signalled Rainbow for two more. This went on and on until finally Dash got frustrated and said "Come on! It's your meal, go fetch it yourself!" Firefly looked at her for a second. Then, taking in a deep breath, she went towards the river, while Dash followed her.
Firefly and Rainbow Dash were in the river. Firefly tried to catch a fish, but ended up spitting it out of her mouth, as it almost choked her! Rainbow showed her the correct way by picking up a fish in her mouth.
