Rainbow Dash sighed. It was twelve o' clock and it was time to go and teach a lesson to Soarin'. A while back that idiot said that he could fly faster than her! So to prove it, they decided to have a race, and the race was today. Rainbow walked over to her door and opened it.

"Bwahh!" she said in surprise. Soarin' was standing right there. "Um, how long have you been there exactly?" Rainbow asked.

"Um...like fifteen minutes. Not my fault you’re a slow poke," He snickered.

"Oh, It's on," Rainbow suddenly flew up into the clear blue sky. "If you’re so fast you wouldn't mind racing here would you?"

"Uh, buh," he stuttered. "Of course I wouldn't mind!" he said, zooming up to her,

"On your mark, get set-"

"Go!" Soarin' yelled, dashing away.

"Oh no, you don't!" It was only one lap around her house and she won by a long shot. A few seconds later she could hear the steady beat of Soarin's wings.

"Whoa! You’re really fast! How are you not a Wonderbolt yet?" he asked.

"I dunno. You’re a Wonderbolt and I fly waaaaaaay better than you,” Rainbow Dash replied smugly.

"You do not fly waaaaaaaaay better than me!" Soarin' replied, offended.

"Wanna prove that?" she said, flapping her wings eagerly.

"No, no thank you."

"Ugghh!!" Rainbow dash groaned. "I've tried flying, my wings are sore. I've tried reading, my eyes are sore! there's nothing to do in this boring house!" Rainbow was bored out of her mind. She needed some excitement, she needed...Her friends! She could just go talk to her friends. The first pony that came to her mind was Rarity, that pony always had something dramatic going on. Rainbow started to fly over to her house, but, halfway there she passed Fluttershy.

"Hi, Rainbow Dash. Did you come to me to hear the story about how I fell in love with Discord?" She asked batting her eyes. Oh no, this happened every time. She would pass Fluttershy and without fail, she would get roped into hearing their love story. Again. She could already feel the bile start to rise up in her throat.

"Sorry, gotta dash." She said and zoomed away. Rainbow quickly found her way to Rarity's shop. She caught her breath before walking in. "Hi, Rarity!" She yelled.

"Oh hi, Rainbow darling!" Rarity called from upstairs. Rainbow trotted up.

"What's up, Rarity?"

"Oh, nothing much, Spikey wikey, could you pass the ribbon?"

"Sure, Rarity." Spike said bringing a diamond encrusted ribbon.

"Oh, Sapphire Shores will love this!" Rarity said excitedly as she wove the ribbon into her costume.

"Wanna talk, hang out?" Rainbow asked awkwardly.

"I'm so sorry, darling, I'm much too busy. Sapphire Shores want a whole new line by next week!"

"Oh, okay. I'll just see what Twilight's doing."

..................

"Sorry, Rainbow." Twilight said sadly. "Princess Celestia needs me to go to the Crystal Empire today and I have to get ready."

"That's fine, I'll just go see what Pinkie Pie's doing." Rainbow said a little saddened.

.....................

"I'm REALLY sorry, Rainbow Dash. Cheese and I have a really big party planned for Screwball's birthday." Pinkie said as she blew her party cannon.

"Oh, then I'll just see what...Applejack is doing." Rainbow said and flew over to Sweet Apple Acres. It was not hard to spot the pony, like normal she was bucking apples. Rainbow was about to speak, but got interrupted.

"Rainbow! I was just about to give you a visit!" Applejack said and ran up to Rainbow, giving her a hug.

"Oh, hi, Applejack. Did you want to talk?" Rainbow said a little surprised.

"Oh yes I did. So ever since Trenderhoof and I got togeder I was thinking. All of our friends have special someponies: Twilight has Flash Sentry, Fluttershy has Discord, Rarity has Spike, Pinkie Pie has Cheese Sandwich except for you." Applejack said pointing to her. "You have no special somepony and that got me thinkin'. I mean I know yer dad is retired and livin' in coudsdale, but, other than that, you have no pony. And you must be sooo lonely and-."

"Woah, woah, woah. Applejack, I'm not lonely, I have you ponies."

"Oh, look at that, yer in denial. It's just a good thing I got your date set-up. Oh I hope I'm not too late. If I hadn't done this in time, who knows? You might've ended up in an insane asylum-."

"Applejack, what are you talking about?"

"Yer gonna go on a date, silly." She said excitedly.

"Woah, you mean like, a blind date? No way, blind dates are lame! I'm waay to cool to fall in LOVE." She said making a gag noise.

"Just wait till you find out who it is, oh, yer gonna be so excited."

"Wait... who is it?" Rainbow asked worriedly.

"My brother!"

"Well...It's a beautiful day out." Rainbow said awkwardly.

"Eeyup." Big Mac said.

"Do you even like blind dates?" Rainbow asked annoyed. How did she get roped into this stuff?

"Nope." Big Mac said staring up into the sky.

"Are you doing this just to make Applejack happy?" Rainbow asked suspicious.

"Eeyup."

"Ugghh!" Rainbow said with a face hoof. She sat in silence. "Do you like anyone?" She asked curiously.

"Eeyup."

"Really...? Wow, I mean, I'm surprised... I always found you, well not that you are, a bit...emotionless."

"Emotionless?" He asked turning to her with one eyebrow raised.

"Well, yeah. I mean, the only words I've ever heard you say are: 'eeyup' and 'nope'. It's sounds a bit...well, emotionless."

"Well I love my sisters a lot."

"Well yeah but,..."

"Do you think Cherilee would like me more if I showed a bit more...emotion?"

"Cherilee? You like- Bwaa ha ha ha!" Rainbow laughed hysterically. "Sorry, I just, uh." she snickered. "Well of course she like you more," She said actually thinking about it. "I mean, I don't know if you've noticed, but Cherilee shows a lot of emotion." Big Macintosh nodded thinking about it. They waited a while. "Well this was fun, but, if you don't mind, I have to go. And it seems to me you have a mare to talk to." Rainbow said with a wink.

Big Mac smiled. "Eeyup." He answered heartily.

Applejack. Rainbow was about ready to kill that pony, she had set up another blind date, and with another relative! Braeburn stared dreamily into Rainbow dash's eyes.

"Has anypony ever told you your beautiful?" Braeburn asked.

"Loads of times." Rainbow answered sarcastically.

"Can I touch your hair?" He asked reaching a hoof out.

"NO!" Rainbow said in fear, grabbing her head. It was just plain creepy, and no pony had ever touched her hair, ever. Not even once. She never let ANY PONY touch her hair.

"Okay, I'm just trying to please, Applejack. Couldn't you play along?" Braeburn said dropping his act.

"Why would I play along?!" Rainbow said disgusted.

Braeburn put a hoof over his mouth and leaned closer. "'Cause she's watching us." He whispered.

"What the- huh?" Rainbow jump into the air. "Where?!" He nodded his head to the left. Rainbow's eyes squinted. Sure enough the orange pony was there, hiding in the bushes. "I'm gonna kill her." She murmured under her breath. Rainbow flapped back down to Braeburn. "So you don't like me?"

"Of course not, blind dates are supposed to determine whether your good for each other. Though, when we first met, to be honest, I though you were pretty cool." Rainbow's ears perked up.

"Really? You...Liked me?"

"Well...yeah. Does that surprise you?" He asked.

"Well, I never thought anypony would like ME."

Braeburn raised an eyebrow. "Your joking, right?"

"Well, I know I'm awesome and all-."

"Oh dear, here comes the awesomeness lecture."

"Actually, I have to go." Rainbow said and started to fly away, she needed to think. Suddenly, her hoof was caught and she was dragged to the ground. It was Applejack.

"What was that?" Applejack asked mad.

"You shouldn't be spying on me, Applejack." Rainbow said angrily.

"Well guess who your next blind date is, Caramel." Applejack said annoyed.

"No, Applejack! I'm tired of you setting me up with your relatives! Just- just...leave me alone."

"Rainbow Dash!" Applejack said in shock.

"No, I just want left alone." Rainbow Dash said and flew away leaving Applejack shocked and alone.

Rainbow Dash sat in her room alone, was it possible that somepony could like her? Maybe even, love her? Maybe she was lonely like Applejack said. Rainbow found herself wanting to be back with Braeburn, not like dating, but in his company.

"No, I just want to be alone." She said to herself. But, maybe it was the opposite. Her brain hurt. Then, she heard a soft knock on the door. "Who could that be?" She went to the door and opened it. "Soarin'?" She was surprised to see Soarin' at her house. He was all smiles and happiness until he saw her face.

"Is something wrong?" He said worried.

"Everything fine." Rainbow growled.

"Don't lie to me." He said his tone and face hardening, but then, softened again. "Can I come in?" Rainbow pushed the door open in response. When she sat on the couch he sat with her. "Now tell me, what's wrong?" He asked putting a comforting arm around her. Rainbow didn't know why, but she started crying. She put her head in his lap and cried some more. "Hey, it's alright I'm here." He said gently and stroked her mane. And she let him.

Rainbow Dash's eyes fluttered open. Some point while she was crying she had fallen asleep. Her eyes were puffy and sore. Soarin' was gone. Soarin'. Why had he done that? It was so kind. He was so kind. Rainbow thought of how he stroked her mane. She had let him, but, why? Oh, and the way he was so gentle- she should thank him. No, wouldn't that be weird? He was just being a good friend...unlike Applejack. No, Applejack just thought she was lonely, and Applejack was right. As a matter of fact she was a bit lonely right now. She flew outside her house and down to the hard ground. Applejack's place was the closest to her right now, and she better apologize, actually, Applejack is one who should apologize. She shouldn't have pressured her into that! It was Rainbow's business weather she had a boyfriend or not. Was Soarin' doing anything? But, why would she want to hang out with Soarin'? A voice in the back of her mind told her. Because Soarin’s your friend. But then something hit her, she didn't know where Soarin' lived. Maybe she could hang out with Pinkie Pie. But, Pinkie was busy.

"Ugghh!" Rainbow said in frustration.

"Rainbow?" The familiar voice of Twilight Sparkle spoke.

"Twilight?" Rainbow said in surprise, she hadn't heard her come up. "What are you doing here, I thought you were supposed to be at the Crystal Empire?"

"Actually, it was a false alarm." She answered with a giggle. Then her serious face came back. "Is something wrong?"

"It's nothing. Applejack just keeps trying to force me together with other colts." Rainbow was surprised by how upset and angsty her voice came out.

"That's why your so upset?"

"It's ridiculous I know-." Rainbow started.

"No, it's not. It's just that well, it's a bit ridiculous for you. But, every pony has their ups and downs even you." Rainbow stomach grumbled.

"When's the last time you've eaten?" Twilight questioned. Rainbow thought about it. Actually, she didn't know when the last time she ate. The silence made Twilight's frown deepen. "Well, Rainbow Dash, no wonder your so grumpy, you haven't eaten! You can't work on an empty stomach!" But the thought of food made Rainbow's stomach churn.

"No thanks, Twilight."

She scowled. "Nonsense!" Before Twilight could do anything, Rainbow zoomed away. Maybe she was tired, but the thought of sleeping didn't sound very appealing either. What was wrong with her? Whatever it was she knew Zecora could help.

"I can tell what's troubling you so, you may not like the answer though." Zecora said after a ful inspection of Rainbow.

"What is it?" Rainbow asked worried.

"I suggest you take this as a sign from above, my dear Rainbow, for you in fact, are in love!"

"Whoa, whoa, what? Man, sometimes I wish you would just make sense." Rainbow said confused.

"I'm afraid I do not have a cure, for that would make you heart impure."

"Never mind, I had to go anyway." She said zooming away. She shook her head. None of the stuff Zecora sai made sense. She decided to go back to her house. When she got back there she was surprised to see Soarin' standing there again.

"Hi Soarin'." Rainbow said confused.

"I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have bothered you, I was just worried after what happened yesterday-."

"It's fine." She said putting a hoof over his lips. "I actually kind of wanted to hang out." She took her hoof off, smiling.

"Really? Cool!"

"C'mon in." She opened the door invitingly. "I'm sorry about yesterday, I shouldn't have flipped."

"No, no! It was cool, it was fine." She smiled. He returned the smile. Something happened when he smiled, Rainbow didn't know what, but her heart skipped a beat. "So you wanna watch a movie or something?"

"Well, I was going to say play air hockey or something, but I can tell you don't want to be beaten by a girl again."

"Hey!" Rainbow raised an eyebrow as if daring him to even say something. "Yeah, I like the idea of a movie." He laughed.

"I'm afraid the only movies I have are Daring Do movies."

"Daring Do! I love Daring Do! I've read all the books, but I didn't know there were movies!"

"Sounds like there's going to be a Daring Do movie marathon tonight!" Rainbow said excitedly.

Rainbow barely watch a second of the movie, she was so distracted by Soarin' sitting next to her she completely forgot about it. She liked it when he put his wing around her and pulled her closer, she also liked to listen to his heartbeat. It somehow always beat in time with hers. The best part was looking into his emerald eyes. They were the deepest, clearest eyes she had ever seen, and they had a little twinkle in them. Rainbow was happy to have such a great friend, even though he hadn't seen her at her best last night he still stayed loyal to her. When he left Rainbow was sad but then smiled about the day they just had, it was fun, they should do it more often.

Rainbow dash sighed in comfort. Today was a good day, especially since she got to sleep in. But, eventually she would have to get out if bed. She leaned on to her left side and fell over, off her bed.

"Bwahh!!" She yelped and hit her head on the floor. "Ow." She groaned and batted away the birds that flew over her head. She wanted something to eat, a muffin from sugar cube corner sounded really good right now. She flew down to the ground and started trotting toward Sugar Cube Corner. Ooh, what a pretty flower! She thought as she passed a daisy. Wait, Rainbow Dash never thought flowers were pretty! Never mind, what she needed was some food. She trotted into the sweet shop, which was bumbling with business.

"Hi, Mrs. Cake may I have two blueberry breakfast muffins please?" She asked.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, Derpy took the last of those." She said with a sad smile.

"Oh, then a chocolate milkshake please?"

"Coming right up!"

"Thanks." Rainbow said hoofing her the money. Rainbow looked for somewhere to sit, the only free seat was next to Big Macintosh and Cherilee. Rainbow Dash walked over. "Hey, Big Mac, I see you took my advice." Rainbow dash winking.

"Eeyup." He said winking back.

"Hi Dashie!" Pinkie Pie said handing Rainbow her drink. "Isn't it weird I'm your waiter? Oh wait, it's not. 'Cause I work here!" She giggled. Yes, it was a good day indeed.

"Oh hi, Rainbow Dash, seeing fancy you here." Derpy said to her right.

"Huh? Never mind." Rainbow smiled. She slurped up the choclatey, creamy substance in her cup and walk out. How could this day get any better? Then Rainbow remembered something she was having lunch with Spitfire and Soarin', this day could get better! It had been almost a month since the crying incident and Rainbow had almost completely forgot about it. Almost. Come to think about it, she never said sorry to Applejack. Then it hit her. She never said sorry to Applejack. Guilt lurched inside her. She had never even spoken to her since then. Oh no. She thought. She had to make things right! Rainbow flew as fast as she could to Sweet Apple Acres. She flew to the barn and was about to go in when she heard weeping. Did she do this? How could she do such a dreadful thing? She slowly pushed the barn door open.

"Applejack?" Rainbow peered in. Sure enough the orange pony was there, she sat in a pile of tissues her ponytail gone and blonde hair covered her face.

"Rainbow Dash?" Applejack looked up from blowing her nose, her eyes were puffy and red.

"Applejack I'm so sorry!" Rainbow said rushing into the barn trying to give the pony a hug.

"Oh, sugar cube it's not your fault. It's that stupid T-Tt- I won't even say his name."

"You mean this isn't about me yelling at you and never talking to you since?" As the words tumbled out of her mouth she could tell she said the wrong thing.

"Oh no, that's only a smidgen of it. I forgave you a while ago. I knew ya didn't mean it, it's that darned Ttt-ttr- oh I hate him!" Applejack broke into another bout of sobs. This time Rainbow did manage to hug her.

"What's wrong?" Rainbow said brushing Applejack's hair away from her face.

" it's, it's Trenderhoof! He broke up with me!" Applejack said collapsing into another montage of sobs that racked her body.

Rainbow sat, head down as Soarin' stuffed his face with apple pie. Spitfire was talking about a mission she was on earlier.

"Hey look, an ant." Soarin' said looking down on the ground.

"Ahh!" Rainbow said and smacked a hoof down squishing it.

"Why'd you do that?" Spitfire asked raising an eyebrow.

"I hate ants!" Rainbow replied crossing her arms.

"Why? They never did anything to you."

"Ants bite!" Spitfire rolled her eyes.

"No they don't, red ants bite, not black ants."

"Yes they do, Gilda told me so, she said she was allergic." Rainbow said frustration started to rise in her.

"That's a lie." Rainbow was shocked.

"That was not a lie!"

"Why not we ask her?" Soarin' asked. Rainbow started to worry, that was forever ago.

"It was a long time ago, she probably won't even remember."

"Ha! Lie." Soarin' said.

"No!' Rainbow said indignantly. "It was probably a prank, anyway. A prank she wouldn't remember 'cause it was years ago." Spitfire and Soarin' shared a look.

"Gilda wouldn't even pull a prank like that." Spitfire said.

"Why would I lie?"

"To prove a point." Soarin' said with a roll of his eyes.

"Wha-wh." Rainbow sputtered. "What point is there to prove?' Her face was turning red. "Never mind." Soarin' and Spitfire both rolled their eyes again. Rainbow felt ashamed and flew off. "Why were they such jerks?" Why was Soarin' such a jerk? Did he really believe that she would lie just to prove a point? Rainbow felt deeply betrayed. She flew into her home and slammed the door shut. Why did she even care? I gave him so much! I put up with Spitfire, I let him touch my hair, I let him do stuff that I never let anypony else do. Rainbow thought. Then Rainbow recalled one time. He called me beautiful, nopony's ever called me beautiful... well besides Braeburn. But I gave him everything! I gave him me, I loved him. Then it hit her. She loved him. She fell on her bed. I loved him and he called me a liar. Rainbow started to sob. Now she knew how Applejack felt. She cried more. she cried and cried until there were no more tears, but kept crying and crying until she fell asleep.

When Rainbow woke up she remembered the events of the previous day, she started to cry again. She went like this for three days, until...

"Rainbow?" She heard a muffled voice and three knocks rapped on the door. "Rainbow?" Soarin' repeated sticking his head in.

"Leave Me Alone!" Rainbow yelled and threw a pillow toward him. It just barely missed his face.

"Rainbow what's wrong?" He asked stepping inside.

"Like you would want to know!" She yelled and starting to cry again, she turned over on her bed so her back was to him. She heard hoof steps and felt Soarin's gentle hoof touch her back. Rainbow paused, her heart fluttering for a moment, but quickly shifted so he could not touch her.

"Rainbow." He said turning her over. She looked over into his green eyes. She felt a sense of longing. There he was, loyal to her as he had always been. She stared into his deep, green eyes, the eyes that stared into her soul. He hugged her and climbed into the bed with her. "You can tell me, I'm your friend." She paused. She felt his arms wrapped around her, holding her tightly, yet ever so softly. He stroked her mane.

"You called me a liar." She said finally. "And it hurt me so bad, because...because...I didn't want you to think I was a liar, I wanted you to think I was someone worth while 'cause...I think your someone worth while...I love you." A tear slid down her cheek and he caught it with his hoof.

He smiled. "I love you too."

THE END...almost.

The words pounded in her brain and she felt in heaven. Then he put his hooves on her face and pulled her in for a kiss. She melted in the embrace and put her hooves around him. She wished it could've lasted forever but he awkwardly pulled away from her. He pointed down. Rainbow remembered he was still in bed with her and their hooves were now entwined.

"I love you and all," He said getting up. "But I don't want to get to tempted." Rainbow laughed and tackled him over on the ground, tickling him. Once the tickling was done they sighed and laid on their backs. He put his arm around her and she put hers around his.

THE END
