HERDUSON'S HOLIDAY SALES ARE A RIOT!
While most businesses across Equestria are waiting until Friday to start their sales and bargains for Hearth's Warming Eve shopping, most businesses in Herduson are jumping the gun, and offering unbeatable deals across town, with most businesses offering 100% off. Not only are there doorbuster deals to be had, but in many cases, windowbusters as well.
"The only better deal would be to pay them to take products for free, and that's just not smart business," said the Zebra owner of Stripes Potions.
The jump-started holiday sales come off the heels of the announcement that there would be no indictment against the unicorn law enforcement officer who killed zebra Whiten Black during an altercation. As riots broke out after sundown, business owners put a twist on the unraveling chaos.
"We have to paint this in the best light possible. After all, if word got out that zebras were destroying their own community, no sane business owner would dare stay in this town. So as far as we're concerned, these are peaceful protests alongside chaotic holiday shopping, so I honestly don't see the problem here."

HA!
Clever for the long-term, but first ya gotta convince outsiders that everyone's shopping for weapons and Molotov cocktails.
So wrong, yet so funny.
Could someone tell me, exactly why Officer Daren Wilson wasn't indicted?
5311413 Some would argue, and the grand jury concluded, that he did nothing wrong.
5311413
Little to no evidence of wrongdoing on his part. Regardless of what both sides of the media hype train say, the facts are the facts.
Nice! I'm honestly surprised Ferguson isn't just ash after all the fires and riots. I have to give the jury credit for not letting threats of violence sway their verdict.
5311413 No solid evidence, detectives finding that some of the supposed eye-witnesses hadn't been their at all and were just repeating what others were saying, proof that Brown was indeed running TOWARDS Wilson with the intent to cause harm, and finding surveillance videos that show Brown committing armed robbery minutes before Wilson showed up. Is that a good enough reason?
5311450
Wait for it, the day is young. But honestly, the media really did nothing but add fuel to a fire like they always do to incite people and raise tensions between groups of people.
So if I understand correctly certain zebras are rioting in protest of a unicorn being able to defend himself from a violent criminal? That's kinda racist against the unicorn isn't it?
5311413 Because a grand jury indictment requires 9 votes and there were 9 white people on the jury.
Gettin' me one of those.
No joke here. It's exactly what's happening. Thank you for that line.
5311413 Because The Grand Jury couldn't find enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was guilty. They've been debating this for months, and looking over every piece of evidence. People should be grateful they took the time to gather all the facts, instead of just handing down a verdict within a week of the incident, in hopes that it would put the issue to rest.
5311455 And evidence consistent with Brown's supposed attempt to grab for the gun, such as powder burns on his hands and a bullet graze on his left hand.
Dammit man.
Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor info to have my own opinion on the subject at hand.
5311401
A Rushin' sale :D
Problem? What are you talking about sir, I don't see a thing but a peaceful protest!
5311497
I honestly wished that this whole matter had been settled in a week instead of letting the news and people who honestly have no idea where Ferguson is on a map to start jumping on a bandwagon. People always want to be part of a movement and yet don't even get some of the most basic facts of what they're fighting and screaming about. Then they take it to the internet and post their feelings up so that they can show everyone else how involved they are. It's like an epidemic of mass delusion .
Nothing like a riot to really get the Holidays going!
5311504 I didn't actually hear about that. Thanks for bringing that up.
Fuck the media.
S'all I gotta say.
5311595 And evidence that Brown actually attacked him inside the car, such as more blood than could be transferred with simple contact.
5311560 I think it's near his appendix, but I'm not 100%
5311416
No, the grand jury concluded there were insufficient grounds for a criminal indictment*. The two statements are not synonymous.
*Which is the only thing a grand jury is empowered to rule on.
If anyone wants to know what evidence the grand jury had, here you go. Turns out most of what's been kicked around in the news for the past few months was a steaming pile of bull, according to the forensics.
5311483 least now we know who is the butt hurt social justice warrior handing out downvotes. Thanks :D
Edit: turn out MM wasn't the mysterious downvoter, so to whoever you really are, bring it on, bra!
5312064 Uhh...I haven't downvoted anything. I just read, dropped one comment, and left. The only thing I'm doing about the whole Ferguson thing is watching from a distance and facepalming.
5312071 Ah, then apologies for lumping ya in... I made an assumption and I was wrong. Forgive my mistake.
5312073 It doesn't really matter to me who downvotes. It's the blindest thing they can do. They rarely come to the comment box and TELL me why this offends them.
To their credit, I probably wouldn't care all that much.
5311590 Not much different from the types of riots you get in stores when they start their Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving. I mean seriously, you hear all these stories about Black Friday but I'll bet you anything that no news network ever covers it.
I'm going to go ahead and say that I think joking about the riots is pretty offensive.
5312071 i am doing the same thing. the correct thing to do is appeal to a higher court.
5312159 I think the fact that the idiots are rioting is offensive. *shrug* I'm actually surprised the cops didn't go weapons free last night considering what happened. (Several cops were shot, walgreens was lit on fire with the employees trapped inside, groups of people carrying around gas cans committing arson, etc. Hell, in most states once they start pouring gas on something, lethal force is authorized.)
5312674
I think they're justified. I've been telling them to go violent for a while now.
5311497

5311422
Grand juries are not courts, though. Their job is not to weigh whether or not the person is guilty, but whether or not there is enough evidence to merit a trial. What the prosecutor in this case did is incredibly, incredibly uncommon for a grand jury. This is from a public defender on why no indictment is highly suspect, but if you really want a higher standard...
The national bar association is saying 'Hey, no indictment here is incredibly sketchy if not downright corrupt'. Note that, because I made the same mistake, the NBA is primarily African-American in makeup - but it still highlights what is so problematic about the process.
Honestly, I do think if he were brought to trial, he would not be convicted; what I've read of the forensic evidence suggests the story is closer to his version. But that is what a trial is for, and a grand jury is not a trial, at all. Furthermore, for a case of this magnitude, there is no reason a special prosecutor shouldn't have been used here for impartiality reasons, because there are massive conflicts of interest present with the local guy.
To the
ZebbersZebras of Herduson,The Great and Glorious Princess Twilight Sparkle would like me to inform you that Princess Celestia would like to offer her assistance to the
ZebberZebra population of Herduson. Princess Celestia welcomes any and allZebbersZebras who want to to come and stay at Canterlot Castle. Free of charge even! Bring as many family members as you want and stay as long as you like! There is only one caveat, everyZebberZebra must bring at least one lit Molotov cocktail to gain entry. When you leave, feel free to take any piece of Castle property that is not on fire, burned to a crisp or nailed down. Actually, feel free to take anything that is nailed down that you can pry up. But remember, everything is being given away on a firstcumcome firstseverserve basis, so try to be civil. Rioting and killing Princess Celestia will result in a harsh talking to.Signed The Great and Glorious Princess Twilight Sparkle's loyal slave and gofer,
Neko Majin C.
KBO.
5311413 It's quite simple, the prosecutor threw the case. He didn't call for an indictment, which is apparently extremely rare. To my understanding this decision would have determined whether a trial took place, not whether or not he was guilty. It seems the system didn't even want him to stand trial, gee I wonder why? Couldn't possibly be that the victim was black, could it? No, of course not (can you hear the sarcasm there, I hope so).
5313722 I think the more likely reason is that they wanted to provide enough time to determine whether or not the officer's story matched up with the evidence provided. If there was enough reason to suspect that the officer was guilty, they would've made sure he stood trial.
The whole reason it has taken this long, is specifically because the victim was black, and they wanted a verdict that was fair and unbiased. Had they said the officer was guilty, just because of what a few people said, and not because of what the evidence proved, then it would've ruined the very judical system that this country is founded upon.
5313745 I understand that, but for the prosecutor to not call for an indictment apparently almost never happens. It's almost an expected event. If it has taken this long to determine if there is enough evidence, it suggests that there may well be enough evidence and hence a trial should happen. I believe that a trial should have taken place, even if the decision turned out to be not guilty, at least then he faced justice. This is dodging justice if you ask me, and I'm not even American.
5312674
Now from what I've heard, not seen but heard, is that several building have been burned to the ground. What possible positive impact was this honestly supposed to make? What happened to peaceful protest? Where people would unite together against actual oppression and say we will not be moved with violence, no matter what. Now it just seems to have all gone down hill.
5313836 That's the thing though, the grand jury decides if there is enough evidence for a trial, but the prosecutor can drop charges at any point.
Either way, it was overly politicized and purposely spun to cause civil upset.
The smart thing for the guy to do would be to either (A) move out of town and lay low for a while (B) move somewhere tropical without an extradition treaty.
Truthfully, the entire .gov is corrupt. The fact that the President is calling for a different investigation after the officer was cleared is just another point to support it.
Then again, in the US there are a lot of similarities to pre revolutionary France and Germany shortly before the Kristallnacht. Things are only going to go downhill and get more violent unless people shut up and stop fanning the fires. I doubt they will though.
5313884 Simply put, they were goaded into doing it. Between the media, politicians, and other jackasses* the flames were fed hot and fast.
And yeah, lots of buildings burned down last night. Off the top of my head, a couple of autozones (oh joy, flaming chemicals) a few gas stations, a Little Caesars pizza, hell they lit a Walgreens off WITH the employees barricaded inside.
*In regards to jackasses, one guy who's live stream I was watching was at the front of the crowd inciting violence. If you flipped to his twitter feed, the guy follows lots of terrorist groups and mentions how much good they are at punishing the US.
5314047 And people listened to him? I would think that being connected to a terrorist group would be a major red flag for most Americans.
5314080 Well it's not like anyone in the crowd was checking. It was just some crazy guy holding a camera and yelling about crap.
5314013 I want to be clear here that I don't agree with rioting as a protest. Violence is never the answer. All I want to point out is that the prosecutor was grossly incompetent. He's now 0-5 in getting indictments in cases of officers shooting unarmed susects, when getting indictments in such cases should be the simplest thing for a prosecutor. Listening to the statements of that prosecutor makes it clear that he had no interest in doing his job properly. Americans, and everyone else for that matter, should be outraged. Just don't go taking that rage to the streets and destroying everything.
5314348 But if the evidence doesn't support an indictment, they won't charge or just will no bill the officer. In this case, the no bill was warranted as it was legal self defense shooting. Doesn't matter if the prosecutor is 0-5 or not. If the law says it was legal is all that matters.
Considering witnesses, forensics, and video all said it was defensive, my money is on it being defensive.
That said, I do agree in essence with the non violent protest bit. I don't ever see it happening though. Human nature and all that. I'm currently watching a live feed from Oakland from a police helicopter of several people in the crowd carrying lit molotov cocktails.
I don't know about California law, but up here in Alaska lethal force is authorized and encouraged the moment they act like it is getting thrown.
5314362 Whether or not ALL the evidence is fully supporting of a criminal charge is irrelevant. As long is there is SOME evidence that supports it. It's the prosecutors job to present the evidence in a way that makes it look as if a crime was commited. That's how you get an indictment. He didn't do that, he presented all the evidence, leading to confusion, and then didn't even call for an indictment. He more or less said, do what you want. Of course the grand jury didn't give an indictment on that. If he had done the job of a prosecutor, there is no doubt in my mind that an indictment would have happened. I'm not saying that he would have been found guilty, he probably wouldn't have, but a trial should have happened. That's why everyone is rioting. Of course they shouldn't riot, but I understand why they are angry.
That ending made me lol hard
In other news people continue to prove that the human race is an amalgamation of hate, idiocy and a general disregard for common sense.
You know, me as an Austrian could care less about what's happening with
Americathe Zebras but I kinda find it frightening that shit like this is happening in a 1st world country. Shouldn't there be only problems like what to wear for breakfast in bed and shit like that in such countries?Other than that though...funny chapter
They seem to be going to continue trying to prosecute him until something (maybe unrelated or tangentially so) finally sticks. 'unpaid parking ticket? 5-10 years!' Hopefully I am wrong about that.
When people refuse to listen to reason and consider the irrefutable evidence....
