Twilight Sparkle has never felt so unsettled before. Last night, a disquieted Celestia gave her a bag and whisked her off, sending her by midnight train to the far away hamlet of Ponyville. Unlike her usual surprise tests, the Princess gave her only one instruction: The letter, sealed with the signet of the monarch goddess of Equestria and hidden in the luggage's secret compartment, is to remain unread until after the following sunset.
But she's the student of the Princess herself, after all; she's never let her down before, and she's never failed even the most punishing test. As the train races out of Canterlot, she assures herself that once she arrives, the letter will make her assignment in Ponyville clear. Besides - what's the worst that could happen?
A retelling of the initial episodes of My Little Pony as a low-fantasy picaresque. Heavily influenced by Dickens, Anno, Poe, Lovecraft, and Verne - plus one or two I can't mention without being very spoilery. My entry for Nanowrimo 2013.More Less

But Babs Seed needs a place to crash while she waits out the rainstorm, and his basement is as warm as anywhere. In the process of making herself at home, Babs gets cozy - much to Button's discomfort.More Less
The Stable-Tec Assisted Targeting Spell is a marvel of design, adding certainty to a very uncertain process - combat. With it, you can figure out how likely you are to hit, how likely you are to disable your target. It'll alert you if something which poses an imminent threat to you has sight of you. And it'll do even more in the near future.
But not every head of Stable-Tec believes that the company should be in the fire control business.
(A one-shot written to get the idea out of my head. This story requires familiarity with Fallout Equestria and Project Horizons. Trigger warning: Second person.)More Less
The Changelings were defeated, and so Canterlot was saved... or so the populace was led to believe, anyways. Unfortunately for Equestria, their assailant was prepared - and even a loss at the hooves of her greatest foe served her plans.
Queen Chrysalis's strategems were meticulously prepared, yes. But in all her scheming, all her machinations, there was one small oversight, something her plans never accounted for...More Less
They say that a pony's special talent is neither good nor evil - it just is, and it's what you do with your cutie mark that matters. But when you live in the vegan nation of Equestria, how do you live down a special talent for cooking meat?
