Interesting thing, at least for all of us here.

I'm pretty much stalled on anything pony related at the moment, plus I've got over 100 fics on Read Later and 10+ chapters of favourites to get through, discounting a ghost chapter. So I decided a bit ago that I'd go back to some fics I had finished the first draft of years ago, when I had a writing partner. I also decided, since I didn't like the characters she had any more and I wanted to change things up a bit, I'd rework things. Of course, I've changed three things right at the start that have knocked on all the way through.

First up, characters - I decided to change them around and use a particular group as the main set, which meant that because some only got created later on in the original version, things changed up, namely a couple of encounters.

Secondly, forms - In the original, everyone was random, but since I've rejigged, there are only five types of dragon that are in, meaning everyone is one of them and it meant that another encounter got altered because the character being used actually looked similar to his sister in the new version.

Thirdly, detection - I needed a reason for things, which ended becoming something of a feature. The changed, the dragons, can smell those that can become dragons because the DNA for that form is already there.

End result of that? Well, there's a certain army recruit that gets introduce whose scenes I'm focusing on right now and instead of being strangled by a gryphon, she's fought a challenge match against a dragon and become that dragon's carer. She's also found a few things out that she didn't learn until later in the original version, which should be interesting when I write the scenes. Right now the girls are relaxing and chatting in the pool after taking on a madclaw or bad changed, one of those that never had dragon DNA so ended up a monster.

The Lost Element

After breaking into a hidden laboratory in Manehatten, the Shadowbolt leader, Nightshade flees the scene having encountered something more than she was expecting. On the way out of Manehatten, she spots her friend and former captain, Spitfire, boarding a train to the Princesses alone know where.

Joining up with Spitfire to escape the supernatural and her pursuers, Nightshade soon finds herself hunting for more ghosts at Spitfire's urging, investigating rumours of crowns made for previous bearers of the Elements of Harmony, including a rumoured seventh element.

The version of the Shadowbolts in this is my own fanon version, which is going off them being Wraith Squadron to the Wonderbolts being Rogue Squad for those of you that are Star Wars EU fans, or the British Armed Forces' Special Air Service and Special Boat Service with a side of Red Arrows for both.

This is a 'Ghost Hunting Adventure' spawned in part by Darkling Room's The Lost Crown and will probably have more than a few ghostly encounters for the intrepid duo before the end, though I'm not giving away what or when.
