My dad is an alcoholic. He drinks like a fish and I live with him to ensure he doesn't overwork or overdrink and give him company.

My dad is an alcoholic. He drinks like a fish and I live with him to ensure he doesn't overwork or overdrink and give him company.
So i seem to have beaten back the roaches. Boric Acid does wonders as ever. The duct tape and baking soda traps I made aren't catching anything now.
I've had a few days to relax and tap out the final prep work for Lord Barleycorn and chapter work is commencing.
I am at my uncle's trailer in florida. its a humble little place, quiet, remote... and full of huge ass roaches.
I am sadly stuck here for 2 weeks and I have an intense hatred for vermin like roaches. moreso than the usual person. And these things are the size of matchbox cars. I walked 3 miles carrying a 70 lb bag to walmart so i could get groceries for this trip. I am more than willing to walk 2 just to make a dent in these bug's population.
I'm heading to florida for 2 weeks on the 12th. two days travel, and I'll have a lot of time to write when I get to my family's mobile home. I'll have no drama, distractions, or disasters to get in my way. I look forward to having a real taste of freedom for once, even if I gotta travel by amtrak and greyhound. 8 hour connections will give me a lot of time to think of plot threads.
wish me luck, I'm a little anxious since I've never traveled this way before.
I need a task at sugar cube corner my blind protagonist can do besides washing dishes. I have a few ideas, but I wanna throw this question out to those that have stuck around this long.
After two months I finally got things moving. I'll be taking amtrak down to florida to get away from my father who's being an ocean of negativity, and my sister who's not exactly the most pleasant of people. I'll be headed toward a trailer my family owns, where I'll have internet, food, and peace and quiet.
For those not in the know, (and even I didn't know until a few days after it happened) a train carrying 100,000 gallons of Vinyl Chloride, Phosgene gas, and other chemicals derailed in East Palastine, Ohio. The EPA and other services are trying to clean up the mess, but the volatile nature of Vinyl Chloride required them to burn the chemicals in a dug out trench. The ohio news chose to bury the story for a few days, and have been giving conflicting information. Fish and animals have been dying,
Things are finally settling down.
I FINALLY got the money out of paypal despite their numerous attempts to stonewall me. I have my new computer, and work on Lord Barleycorn has begun in earnest again. Best of all, the christmas season is far behind us and my family's put the drama back in the box for next year's holiday season.
Yes, I live.
So just got back from my buddy who knows computers. We both thought it was a hard drive issue but it turned out to be the motherboard. Because it just started blue screening, restarting, bluescreen, reset, and got into a loop like that. My buddy's helping to search for a refurbished computer that's within my price range.
good news is that I keep my chapters on a google drive so the glacial progress I've made hasn't been lost.
