It is, and I wholeheartedly agree. In context, though, there are three major factors in retrospect:

1) This is the first story I have not actually been happy with. I was writing it, sure, but it was more because I felt obligated to write something.

2) This is the first story that has not been pre-read at all. Not just proofread, no pre-readers.
