I'm an experienced writer and editor who happens to like ponies.

A brony walks into a piano store · 12:52pm Aug 9th, 2013

So every Friday, my newspaper runs a story called "Shop Local." It's sort of a paid advertisement deal where we write up a story on a local business so they can get customers and stuff. I'm usually the one to write it, but everyone forgot about it until Thursday, so I was in a bit of a panic figuring out who to do the writeup on.

So I started watching Doctor Who yesterday. · 10:13pm Aug 4th, 2013

You know, find out what all the fuss is about. Kind of like another show aimed at children and featuring talking ponies. Maybe you've heard of it.

Incidentally, Doctor Who appears to have had the same results--chiefly, the sudden desire to watch ever episode in existence.

See you later. Or earlier. I dunno, it's a bit wibbly-wobbly.

Baseball is ponies · 1:11am Aug 3rd, 2013

So I was laying out the sports page at work today and decided to run an AP story about what's going on with baseball and suspending players and such. I typed "MLB prepares to suspend" as the headline because that's all that would fit and the best I could come up with after almost 50 hours of work this week.

Then I ran a spell check and realized I had typed "MLP" instead of "MLB."

It was kind of awesome.

Newlywed Adventures - Epic Road Trip of Awesome · 11:31pm Jul 2nd, 2013

Last Friday, I got married to my best friend and the love of my life in Washington.

Right now, I'm lying on a couch in Kansas with a sprained ankle.

Let's see if I can fill in the middle part.

Mawidge. · 1:07am Jun 28th, 2013

So this is turning out to be a pretty eventful week. We had the Supreme Court rulings on DOMA and Prop. 8 yesterday, Nelson Mandela's having health issues, and I'm getting married tomorrow. Also, my bride and I appear to be way better at wedding receptions than my brother and his wife, seeing as we set everything up in 10 hours and they took about 30.

Apparently I'm inspiring. · 10:16pm Jun 24th, 2013

Or at least my stories are, because this person made a song inspired by "Stetson."

Cheers!

Kierkegaard: Critiquing an Episode of MLP · 2:15pm Jun 6th, 2013

So my pal Kierkegaard posted a blog recently about fallacies in critiquing an episode of FiM. This is something I have dabbled in in the past, and it was interesting to see another person express so well my thoughts on how an episode should be critiqued. So rather than try and write my own blog (and inevitably copy just about everything

Spewing random half-baked headcanon: Celestia's School for what now? · 7:15pm Jun 1st, 2013

What is Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns? How many applicants does it accept? How many colts and fillies apply? What do they learn there? Where do they go and what do they do when they graduate? Do they all have to pass the hatch-a-dragon-egg test? If so, why haven't we seen more baby dragons in Canterlot?

And part of me really wants to start playing "This Day Aria." Even though he wouldn't get it. And he isn't even here right now. But whatever.
