As for the battle with the Timberwolves, I have to say I did not like it at all for the most part.
If you wanted to kill off the pack I would rather have seen Case take more of them out prior to the party's intervention.
If Fluttershy was using even part of the Stare it should only have failed due to the number of wolves (possibly circling around and out of the field of vision), not their wills.

Chapter two wound up being the revised story's version of chapter one, as several elements of the previous version made their way into the revision. Snake being discovered by someone, knocking them out and hiding them in a bale of hay a la Assassin's Creed, venturing into the Everfree Forest, unknowingly tailing Applebloom; all of those things had their genesis in the original version of the story.

Chapter three contains one of the earliest iconic images for the story that I came up with: Solid Snake punching a Manticore in the face. Early on, I wanted Snake to get into a fight with Equestrian wildlife, and the logical conclusion was a Manticore. So that came from the first draft of the story, while the Applebloom subplot came from the second.
