Mordane is probably my least-fairly dropped HiE, it was the first HiE I think I read on this site and I still remember a lot of what happened in the story despite it having been like at least a year since then, it's very memorable. I thought Mordane accidentally faking his death with the way you made the lightning magic work in your magic system was SO clever! I also really liked the Party King bit.

I just couldn't handle the tonal whiplash at the time and haven't found the energy to pick it back up with so many other stories in my Tracking half-read. The start with that love interest dying and having Mordane leading Ponyville into a bloody battle with Diamond Dog slavers, I just wasn't sure what kind of story it was trying to be with that kind of very dramatic start then flipping back to the joke character Child Stalker actually being a chill dude and helping Mordane on his journey to the two towns who were mirroring each other, that part made me roll my eyes a bit. I might be misremembering some things, it's been a little while.

But I eagerly await the rewrite! I loved all that I read of it in spite of that. Mordane is full of really cool concepts and a promising story in a genre rife with formulaic Incompletes that don't think about the story beyond the isekai vehicle. Your story was clearly a cut above the rest and I look forward to rereading from the start when the rewrite comes out! :]
