373849 Well, you first of all have to favourite the story by clicking the star to the right of a story's name. Once you've done that, when that story gets updated, the star at the top of the page should turn orange and have a number aside it, depending on how many chapters you've missed of a favourite story.

I hope that made sense, I'm not a good explainer. I would have put in pictures if it wasn't for the fact I'm currently at school.
